Payton met us upon arrival at the Event Center and gave us an amazing experience. My wife and I have very stressful work and this opportunity to decompress was just the prescription for recovery we needed. We're definitely coming back and bringing our whole family to take advantage of the Gun Range, Event Center and BNB facilities.

Our English Labradors enjoyed the sights as much as we did and our stay was spacious enough to share with them comfortably. Patrick is an amazing host - he is accommodating for excursions at all skill levels and is also happy to share his wealth of knowledge about agriculture and the land that his ranch sits on. We left with a greater understanding and appreciation for what it takes to be a steward to this beautiful place. Patrick's staff is also very friendly and happy to show you around. Aaron and Nathan both helped to show us a great time. Our weekend flew by - filled with hunting and horseback adventures. There are so many other activities that I would love to partake in on our next visit as well as a new hobby that I would love to explore deeper! We can't wait to return!

After finding a couple of places closed, we called Barons Creekside. Best thing we ever did! We spoke to Lasca, who was actually out with her family for dinner Despite this, she got us set up in the cutest farmhouse, gave us directions and instructions to get in, and after her dinner was over, she stopped by to check if we needed anything. The excellent service did did not stop there. We were treated like family, and we really enjoyed walking the beautiful, scenic grounds and hanging out at "The Club" on property! Next time we go to Fredericksburg, we know where we will stay - at Barons Creekside!

The YO is a tough one to review. There's a pile of people who give it 1 star, and another pile of…read morepeople who give it 4-5 stars. I think much of it has to do with what your expectations are when staying here. The hotel is retro western and reminds me of the days of Route 66 themed motels and roadside attractions. The lobby is a large room filled with taxidermy and old western artifacts like cattle brands, peacemakers, Remington style sculptures, etc. The attendants at the front desk were friendly and helped us get squared away with little fuss. We went to our first room and after walking in, we immediately turned back to the lobby to change rooms. The first room faced the parking lot, had some stains on the curtains, and overall didn't feel like a winner. Thankfully, they had a room facing the pool available and the interior was much nicer/cleaner. The room came with a balcony that overlooked the pool that ended up being a nice spot for late night chats with the mild weather we had. I'd strongly suggest getting the pool view because it was night and day from the outer perimeter room we started with. The floors of the hotel rooms are saltillo tiles, and from someone who has lived in many a saltillo tiled homes, keep your shoes on. It's so hard to clean the grout and tiles perfectly, and I'm sure the maids aren't on their hands and knees steaming and scrubbing between stays. Beyond the tile, the bathroom was clean, water pressure was fine. Bedding and furniture was clean. No big complaints. The restaurant was closed for renovations during our stay, which was a bummer. The bar was also closed during our stay because we came on Monday and left Wednesday morning. The bar's schedule is open every day except Monday and Tuesday. We used the pool while staying there and it was fine for sunbathing and a quick dip. The hot tub was closed for maintenance, but it was too hot out for using it anyhow. Long review short, if you like hotels with character, then you should have a fun stay. I'd say the YO is perfect for someone looking for a cheap stay (we paid $220 total for 2 nights) that doesn't mind tile floors, kitschy decor, and rooms with a little age. It's way more interesting than The Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express!

While the lobby area looks amazing, the experience in our room was a different story…read more During our stay in the Rio Grande section, we accidentally spilled some water on the tile floor. When my wife wiped it up, the towel came away black with filth. We addressed this concern with the front desk the following morning; the clerk was polite and understanding, assuring us she would notify housekeeping. We headed out for the day and returned mid-afternoon. While the room smelled of cleaner and there were visible damp spots on the floor, we decided to test the cleanliness ourselves. We wet a fresh towel and wiped the tile again--it came up just as black as the first time. At that point, we decided to cut our trip short and asked to check out two days early. The front desk staff remained professional and informed us that they would authorize a refund once Expedia contacted them. We were pleased to find that the refund was indeed approved two days later. Summary: Aside from the significant cleanliness issues, the rest of the experience was average. However, given the state of the floors, we would not choose to stay here again.
