Fantastic barbershop! We are visiting Rochester and my husband was in need of a good haircut. Found Hillcrest Barbers on Yelp and made an appointment. Sam cut my husband's hair and we both think it's the best cut he has ever had. Sam did an awesome job! There were two other barbers in there and while my husband was getting his hair cut I was watching them too and they were also really good! I'm a regular here, there's a reason for that. I don't think I ever leave another barber liking my cut. Maybe others from the armed service understand, but these guys are real barbers. They don't just select an attachment size and go. I enjoy the conversation, the ambience, the radio station, hearing "Hey Paul" when I call and "Thanks Paul" when I leave (and I'm pretty sure they don't track and control that with some fancy software). I could go to a cheaper place, but then I'd spend the next 3 weeks waiting for the opportunity for the boys to fix it. read more

Hillcrest Barbers are hands-down the best barbers in Rochester.

My friends and I went here for haircuts and a few of the guys even got old fashioned, straight-razor shaves. The store is a old school looking barbershop in the middle of an old strip mall. The staff was very friendly and quickly started rotating us through the barber chairs. Prices were around $20+ with tip which seemed a little high for the area but overall, everyone was happy with their haircuts and shaves. read more

They definitely go with the old school, rustic and conservative vibe here and I believe have been in business for decades. Barbers are nice. Similar place in Charlottesville called Staples. I'm not a fan of the price or features though. It was about 18-19 bucks for the cut, so ultimately I pay about 40% more than I would at other places which have given me haircuts at least as good as what I got here (which was also a good cut). Besides the pricing, the layout isn't all that comfortable for a nice semi-buffered conversation with your barber. The barber chairs are lined up 3 in a row within about 5 feet of each other and waiting chairs are separated by a short wall and directly face the work area. Cash only. read more

Cut was good, and service was very friendly. However is was extremely overpriced at $18. I think most haircuts should be no more than $12-$15. I'll likely be back though for fear of stumbling upon another barber than may butcher my hair! read more
