They are quick to release patients before they are ready. The communication is terrible between staff, physicians, and patients.

My issue is mainly with unfair business practices and not disclosing prices up front. On my first appointment with the nurse practitioner, I was told that I would need to have bloodwork done and then schedule an in person visit with the psychiatrist to get the prescription. Then I would need to make an appointment with the nurse practitioner four weeks after that and I would need to visit with her every two months following. I had the bloodwork done that day then made the appointment with the psychiatrist as directed. At my appointment he called me by the wrong name. Then he spent 15 minutes rushing through reading to me a pre prepared page about the history of ADHD and such. Then he refused to prescribe me the prescription I had been on before and had asked for. Instead, he prescribed something else. I had never tried that medication so I was willing to try it to see if it worked for me. It did not. The side effects were horrid. He told me to schedule and appointment with the nurse practitioner in two weeks, not the four that I was originally told. I made the appointment and met with the nurse practitioner two weeks later to tell her the prescription didn't work. She recommended something else, I told her I couldn't afford it, and she said there was a generic version. Then the pharmacy informed me that the generic version was $400. No way I could afford that. I had literally just had the appointment with her so I sent her a message saying I couldn't afford it and I'd like to have the medication that actually works. She told me to message the psychiatrist directly. So I did. He told me to discuss it with the nurse practitioner in an appointment. So I sent her a message basically saying I wouldn't be making any more appointments. Okay here are the billing issues...insurance didn't cover the charges even though they said they accept my insurance. And they make you have a credit card on file. I paid $240 the first time, then $111 the second time. Then I got a statement for an additional $193. They charged me for the appointments and also the messages I sent. I called billing to dispute the charges. They didn't have a record of one of my payments and I had to find it on my credit card and give them the reference number. They said I'd owe $74 and I'd know something in two weeks. Then they charged my credit card for the $193 and changed the statement to include the "message charges" in the regular appointment charges. So now I'm out $534 for three appointments and I still don't have the right medication. As far as I can tell, they are in violation of the No Surprises Act stating that prices have to be published publicly so you know what you're getting into beforehand. I would not recommend this company at all.

DO NOT USE PICMED-TULSA…read more My wife needed a health exam to update her health records required for immigration to the US. We took her native country's health records to them and they did the exam. All seemed to go well. And we were glad there weren't any additional shots needed to complete the USCIS requirements. We submitted the paperwork to the USCIS it was rejected and returned as incomplete because PicMed hadn't given my wife the additional shots she still needed to meet US health requirements for citizenship. When I called them about the issue they denied they had done anything wrong! They just passed me off to a manager who was quite rude. Then never offered to make it right by administering the needed shots! Needless to say, we had to complete the medical evaluation AGAIN but had to drive to OKC to get the requirement completed! We PAID total of over $500 + $100 for the interpretor to Picmed-Tulsa. Then we had to pay over $500 + $100 for another interpretor + travel expenses for the exam in OKC. It's difficult and expensive enough to go through the immigration process with the USCIC. But PicMed-Tulsa adder insult to injury when they deny fault and cause is to double our expenses in an already costly and process. This is even harder to take when PicMed-Tulsa is on a PRESCRIBED EXAM PROVIDER for the USCIS. I could only imagine the kind of fraud they perpetrate on poor people who come to the US, trying to enter legally, when neither husband nor wife can speak English!

I have gotten my care all over the country. I know not all locations are great. But - my experiences in Orlando, San Francisco, and now Tulsa (hospitals and smaller clinics) have been nothing but good. Every healthcare worker I have encountered has the heart for the job. They care. I can't speak about the system, but I can vouch for the people. They work *hard*. When I first got to Tulsa Ernest Childers was just coming on line. Now, things move pretty smoothly. Transfers from different areas of the country definitely take more time than they could to be sure. It's not a perfect system. I can say with 100% certainty that the VA system is a far cry above many others. My experience has shown me that if I demand with a flavor of entitlement it gets me - and anyone else - nowhere. People deserve respect. In the healthcare sector they *need* it from patients because sometimes they don't get it anywhere else. Give the healthcare workers some grace. They seriously want to help each patient. I've witnessed it over and over in my 20+ years. Ernest Childers clinic is absolutely a place I feel safe & cared for.

Not to mention, when I walked out of the room to go to the bathroom there was three people working just sitting down gossiping and eating. It is absolutely ridiculous especially when most of the staff was not very friendly at all. Our healthcare system just keeps going downhill.
