People there are amazing but there process is way outdated. All I needed was an x ray. You are asked to get there 15 min early. So you check in and wait..... they grab you and bring you upstairs where you wait. You then fill out paperwork that you have already done a hand full of times and then wait. They bring you back to meet with a check in person you again give them the same info over and over. They bring you back to the waiting room where you wait. You finally get called back for the xray. That is such a waste its 2025 people. read more

I had a facelift and eyelid trimming at this hospital. Dr Paulsen does most of his surgery in his office but uses this hospital for his higher risk patients. Since plastic surgery is optional, I don't think he takes actual high risk patients. He did my procedures at the hospital because I'm older than his average patient, my procedures required a long time under anesthesia, and I have high blood pressure, and I had to get my blood pressure under control before the surgery or it would have had to be postponed. I was pleased with the hospital my doctor chose. The medical staff was compassionate. I especially liked the kind nurse who put my IV in. She was painless. The hospital is located in the complex where City of Faith used to be. I think it is a faith based hospital. I felt like I was in good hands. read more

I can't count the number of times I've been to OSH for both in- and out-patient surgical care. I've had both knees replaced, two shoulder surgeries, and two fusions in my back. From doctors to kitchen staff to housekeeping staff, the people have made me feel that I was in safe and caring hands. I feel like I'm just working my way through the doctors, but every one of them has been awesome. How this place doesn't have better reviews is beyond me. I just got home from a procedure and OSH was wonderful every step of the way. From the valet who first greeted us, to the liaisons, escorts, techs, nurses, and anesthesiologist, everyone was calm, smiling, and made (a very nervous person (me) feel at ease. I was kept comfortable, and checked in on frequently during my wait. Honestop, I felt almost pampered. BIG thank you for a compassionate and professional experience. I checked into OSH for abdominal surgery. I was very anxious when I arrived at 5:30am. Every member of the team that I encountered, from reception, to transport, to pre-op were kind, patient, and caring. They quickly put me at ease. I went into surgery feeling confident in my choice of facility. During my time in post-op recovery I was cared for by compassionate and intuitive professionals. My care required a 2 night stay. I was surprised that through shift after shift, my care team were professional, engaging, caring, and patient. I did not encounter a single exception to the clearly high standard set by OSH for its staff. Oklahoma Surgical Hospital nurses and nurse techs were awesome! My Dad had surgery and after being sent home to do PT he had complications due to lack of communication between the Dr. and the home health care service. He had to come back to the hospital for an additional surgery by another physician and the nurses/ techs were extremely kind and helpful in both instances. read more

I've had nothing but a wonderful experience here! Staff are absolutely friendly and helpful. The facility is clean, well lit and departments are clearly marked. Never had any issues with parking like some hospitals. They follow Covid guidelines to the T, but don't make it feel so forced. My nurses prior to my ankle surgery, in the OR and after my surgery were all just angels!! Very sweet, friendly, hospitable, caring and attentive. PLUS they all had a great sense of humor. We laughed and joked often. These ladies are just gold! I recently got a letter from my nurse who was with me in recovery. It really warmed my heart to be thought of. I've had two surgeries at this hospital and both experiences were great! After care team was fabulous.

Our son had surgery at this hospital by Dr. Meese. They didn't tell him until the day before surgery that he had to pay over $500 up front or they wouldn't do the surgery to remove his gal bladder so he had to barrow the money to be able to get the surgery done. They never told him or his wife that after the surgery the amount that would be due by them after the insurance. The first bill for dr. Anesthesia and hospital he cake to make payment, the hospital portion refused to take his payment and wanted a set amount and total had to be paid in 12 mos, he couldn't afford what they demanded but was willing to make payments to pay off, they told him that wasn't acceptable. He started making payments he could afford to do via a phone system after just 3 or 4 payments they turned his account into collections even though he was parking in good faith and intent was to pay them off as quick as he could afford to do. He told him his wife was no longer working and the amount they were demanding was to steep but still they would not accept and agree. How do these people sleep at night? Dr. Meese and his office are horrible to do this to a young hard working person who was trying to make payments on his bill. He wasn't asking for a hand out, or any help, he just needed to make payments he could afford. Horrible horrible selfish people just out for the $$$. We would never recommend them to anyone unless you are rich and can afford them. Hum, oh yeah. That's the only clientele they want. Not the real hard working man. I'm a veteran and I use to go to the VA for all of my health care needs but everyone knows the wait times are ridiculous. I rate this hospital the same way I rate the VA GARBAGE. I had a appointment at 11:00am and I showed up a hour early like they said so I could get my labs and admission out of the way it's 1:00pm now and I have seen people that got here after me called to the surgical floor. I got discharged from OSH today, I had some hip surgery done there,the nursing staff on the Orthopedic floor were very rude , yelling and even attacked me when I checked in my room after I got out of recovery,my eye got injured and my wound vac got jerked out,one nurse tried to push me down, I never go back to Oklahoma surgical hospital,what a nightmare read more

We had a bad experience with a PA at this facility, rude and very mean to my 79 year old mother after hip surgery. Because she was having extreme pain in her left leg after a hip replacement, he told you should be walking 50 feet if you don't I'm sending you to a facility, he pretty much argued with her. I guess they think black women can tolerate pain better than white women. I went down stairs for a min and when he came in to see her she wanted to call me and he said No, I don't need to speak with her... I'm sure it's because he wanted to talk crazy to my mother. We will never ever come back here for even a hang nail. So beware if choosing this establishment they mistreat the elderly. One star is to much! The nurses were awesome. My son had a pin inserted in his finger, 12yrs, wrestling with his brother. I was scared as this was first major surgery. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! They are so comforting, welcoming, and thorough!!! They explain everything from the moment you walk in. Guide takes you where you need to go and informs you on everything that will happen. You have a buzzer pager like at restaurants so any time the nurse- staff need you - the pager will alert you. Large waiting reception with free soda, water, coffee and some bagels and muffins!!! Thanks so much, 5am surgery we didn't stop for breakfast. Lots of tvs in the waiting area. As well as rolling screens with patient's updates. So you always know what phase of the procedure your loved one is at. Doctors nurses and anesthesiologists explain everything, answer all questions. Clean and sterile place smelled so clean. While there they had practice fire drill. Whoa talk about freaked out!!!!!! Small garage door like structures dropped down fast and sectioned off the hospital. Red lights flashing and speaker DO NOT PANIC- hahaha we all panicked!but the area that separated waiting and the surgery area there was like metal garage door that came down- automatically- it was like fire barriers idk!!! Know your exits at any place you enter -you never know! We will come back here for every surgery! Free valet parking and the staff wheeled my son down to the car! They are full service here!!! My daughter had an ACL and Meniscus repair surgery at Ok Surgical Hospital and we were very impressed! Surgical Doctors and All Nurses were very helpful and professional. Food was great, care was mostly great. Admissions was great. BUT! The hospital floor doctor told me the day of and right after my surgery, That I needed to ween myself off the pain meds. Really? I just had part of an internal organ removed due to cancer. The Surgical Doctor gave me a prescription of plenty of high performance pain meds to use at home while recuperating. Also, I did wind up back in the ICU at the hospital 24 hours after they released me, due to an infection. The billing department, is very confusing and don't seem to keep their numbers straight. Never received any bills and then received a notice they had turned over my account to Collections. So I went to the hospital and told them I wanted to pay my bill in full. I paid almost $2000 that day. Then 3 days later, I get a call from collections and they stated, If you pay in full today, we will give you a 15% discount. I informed them, I had paid in full 3 days earlier. GRRR! Several months later, my Primary Care Doctor scheduled me for a procedure to be done at OSH. Then OSH called me and said I must pay my account in full before I could have the procedure done. I stated I had paid in full already, then I asked how much they think I owed. They stated another almost $800. Needless to say I was furious as it was from the same time I was in the hospital for the almost $2000 bill. So I asked why this wasn't presented to me when I came in to pay my bill. Oh this new charge was from the doctor, they bill separately, even though their office is in the OSH. Okay! So again, why have I not received any bills before now? They didn't know. So then I ask for a break down of what I paid and what it was for (Itemized statement). Then they tell me when I paid the almost $2000 bill, they only had record of me paying a little over $1600. I thought maybe they credited me the 15% discount for their records, but didn't remove it from my charge. No, They said they put the difference to a bill from almost a year earlier. So frustrating, especially since I never received any bills but I did receive a notice that I had been turned over to collections. If I was trying to get out of paying something, I wouldn't have went into the hospital to pay my account in full. So the key thing to note, Is never pay the Hospital, wait until collections has your account so they can give you a 15% discount, and if you want to be safe, and not owe them for the rest of your life because they keep coming up with bills after I paid in full, just don't use the hospital. read more

Had my first cardiac angiogram here yesterday with Dr. Higgins and crew in the "Cath Lab". Needless to say, I was a little nervous. The staff from the valet parking to the nurses and technicians on the floor quickly eased my tension. The ground staff, greeters and blood lab folks were all very welcoming and friendly even before 6 am. Once to the 4th floor cath lab, the first nurse was a 20 year Navy Corpsmen veteran. This woman was impressive in her professionalism and friendly and put me to ease. I feel horrible I can't accurately remember her name or I would mention it here. She was that good both before and after my procedure. Then came Becky to take me in the "place" for the procedure. She too, was very good and reassuring in her tasks. Hers was the voice I heard, amongst the other "chatter" in the room, as I drifted off. It was peaceful and I cannot thank them enough for that. The teaming the surgical room was hilarious. The banter was high pitched and fast paced. Lol. This banter also aided in my relaxation as this is how act at stressful times. The fast paced activities and jokes continued until like a switch, Becky started her report to the Dr. and the room was silent. That is the sign of a trained, professional and experienced team. I was very impressed and comforted as I went out. Recovery was uneventful as I was back in the care of the corpsmen. Much of this was in a fog for me but my plus 1 (Sue) said the instructions were clear, precise and thorough from her and the Dr. was there shortly after the procedure to provide the details. I appreciated that. I do not recommend the procedure to anyone. But if you have to have it, this is an awesome team to have do it! Thank you for amazing service! read more

I had a knee revision (replacing a replacement) surgery in June 2016. This hospital has been my best hospital or surgery experience by far. Everyone is kind and helpful from housekeeping to charge nurses. They take such good care of you, it feels like you're at a spa. The pain protocols are amazing. I had a replacement six years ago at a different hospital, and I was miserable. At Oklahoma Surgical the pain protocol begins BEFORE surgery starts, and the result has been a dramatic decrease in my pain and the amount of narcotics needed after surgery. The hospital has a very large and comfortable waiting room for family with different little seating sections and different televisions in the sections. That is nice because everyone in the whole waiting room doesn't have to watch the same channel selected by whomever got to the tv button first. Staff is nice and pleasant. The down side is that unless you use valet parking, you have a very long walk before reaching the building to have another long walk. read more

Oklahoma Surgical Hospital Speaking as someone who's only experience with OSH is picking up my friend, not able to drive himself home after surgery. On my way driving to the hospital, I get a phone call from a hospital person (my friend gave them my number), explaining which door to come to. Since I am picking up a client, they recommended their complimentary valet parking. I took them up on it. After locating the front desk, I told them who I was. They assigned someone to me, who took me up the elevator to the correct floor and room. Nurses and docs were in the room prepping my friend for surgery. I didn't stick around too long. They guided me to the waiting room. I checked in. They gave me a Waiting Room Guide, an impressive 4 color brochure. In it they wrote down my patient's number. I would need to refer to that number on their monitors. Frequently asked questions are on the brochure, with the five stages your patient will go thru in the process of surgery. Also wireless network connection instructions w/username and pw info. And how to tell which stage of the process your patient is at along the way as you are waiting. PreOp, Procedure, Recovery, PostOp, and Inpatient. The goal is to make it to Inpatient. Then it's over. The waiting room is HUGE. Nicely done. Comfortable furniture. Areas are partitioned off with furniture so families can sit together in their own areas. TVs are on the wall playing news. Many small non-interactive monitors are scattered throughout. Think arrival / departure screens at the airport. Patient info is posted on these monitors by patient number. They are updated frequently, letting you know which stage your patient is in. Refreshments are complimentary: coffee, soft drinks, bottled water, cookies, crackers and granola bars. At one point they brought a phone to me. The surgeon was finished and was calling to let me know how it went. He said it would be about an hour from that point and my friend could go home. After an hour, someone came and got me, taking me to the recovery area. My friend was already up and walking around. Instructions were given and they took my valet parking number from me. Someone came with a wheel chair and we made the trek to the front door. My pickup was waiting for me. Wow ! This is a well oiled machine, from start to end. I would have had to know nothing. They pretty much took me by the hand and led me through the whole process of picking up my firend. If they treat their patients anything like they treated me, I highly highly recommend them. This is not the experinced I had I had a box step back surgery they had to go back in and do twiced then after that their food servers or one of their Techs cleaned off my serving tray and threw away 3200 dollars worth of hearing aids nobody knows what happens.My doctor Cory Smith said he seen the hearing aids but does not know where they went. Had imaging and knee surgery. At all times staff was very friendly and professional. Patient comfort as well as family comfort seems to be a priority with staff helping both throughout whatever procedure you are having. Waiting areas for family are very nicely furnished with plenty of space, televisions, free wifi and a patient tracking system that allows family to know where you are every step of the way. I had a total knee replacement at OSH and this hospital, staff and doctors are nothing short of awesome! I have never received this level of outstanding care anywhere else! Dr. David Nonweiler, MD is my surgeon. He explained the surgery with me in detail prior to my procedure and did an outstanding job with my Mako Total Knee Replacement. The nursing staff went above and beyond to care for me and manage my pain post-op very effectively and made sure I was always comfortable. The food for every meal was delicious, served hot or cold as appropriate and they called me to take my order instead of the other way around! The nurses had me back up on my feet ASAP and showed compassion for recovery. Bless each and every one of you who cared for me! You are a credit to the medical profession!! The same can be said for the Physical Therapy staff at Advanced Orthopedics PT unit at the William Bldg. In the St. Francis complex. My 81 year old father had gall bladder surgery by Dr. Cole 9/21/17. He is just leaving the hospital 10/5/17. Not pleased with the Dr. Cole's care, or nursing care by some nurses. The experience trying to locate a skilled nursing rehab facility disappointing as well. I am in Fort Smith and did visits to facilities with my sister. The Social worker, Jennifer Cunningham did help calling and getting the process started. She visited my father in his room 9am and then left for the day and didn't let myself or my father know the end of the process. Dr. Cole not did not visit his room until 7:30 pm that day. My father expected to get to skilled nursing, I took off work traveled from Ft. Smith to help. It didn't happen until the following day. Not the hospital to go to if you have an elderly patient. Fourteen days, skin breakdown, asked for additional blood as he was anemic. Blood given on day 11. read more
