    Bar and outdoor patio

Falling for fall? There's enough to satisfy every craving at Hillcrest Orchards for the whole family. The farm is further out than some of the other local pick-your-own places, but just as well attended. There's ample parking in the primary and overflow lots without being too far from the main areas. We joined many other families and groups ambling into the farm on a weekday morning, with our first stop being the shed with bathrooms. Be not deceived by the door with the restroom sign on it - there's actually additional toilets on the other side closest to where the patio/bar are. These stalls are separated just by curtains, but in a pinch work just fine. Our favorite spot was the beautiful barn and patio, where the bar serves Hillcrest's own brews. The barn was closed that day for a private event, but all the tables were set out and arranged in appropriately social distance. There's plenty of seating at the picnic tables on the grass as well. Food is available for purchase at the food truck. Menus for both food and drink are online. Food took an inordinate amount of time to get (only one cashier and two people making food in the tiny kitchenette), and they wouldn't take additional orders if say, a family ahead had ordered five sets of fries and nachos. The Mexican Street Corn and Fries are wonderful, but I and many other customers were pretty aggravated by the 20+ minute wait it took to get our orders. At least you can get their fantastic Apple Cider Donuts for $1 each. To pick your own apples, check to make sure they're offering apples that day first, and what kind. Honeycrisp goes fast! It costs $10 per person to enter the orchard, and a 10 lb bag for apples goes for an additional $15, or 20 lb bag for $25. You get a very non-sticky sticker that shows you're not just creeping in the orchard and stealing apples. One of the perks is that they fully condone eating the apples as you pick, so if you're not sure if you want those Jonagolds, you can try before you commit. The orchard is fairly large but a reasonable stroll while being able to distance from others. The tractor hay ride is also an option for kids (and adults) who are lazy - I mean, preserving their energy. The pumpkin patch is just a short distance from the orchard entrance, and most of the gourds have actually already been cut to simplify the picking process. Wheelbarrows and shears are offered if you want the full experience. If I had small children, I know they would have loved running through the corn maze or taking a ride in the small train. Older kids might not be as amused by going around in a small loop, but hey, teenagers don't really like anything. Before you leave, be sure to check out their market for all your fall cooking/baking needs.

Fantastic addition to the Apple orchard! Great service with family on the grounds. Food is fantastic!!!! Not your typical fast food truck... amazing! The perfect social distancing experience!

But what do I want to do? "Fall stuff" that Southern California, as much as I love it, just can't provide. That was our agreement - I will go to football games with him if he will go to pumpkin patches with me. So we found ourselves (now three times at Diamond Hill Farm) which put me in the mood I've always wanted to have in September / October but never have had until this year. It's a beautiful drive out to this working farm and the setting is beautiful once you arrive. There are pumpkins galore - all different shapes and sizes. There are also gourds, straw bales, corn stalks, decorative corn and mums for sale. If you want fall decor, this is your place to be. I'm not sure how their prices compare locally, but compared to California, it's a steal! There also seems to be plenty of fun to be had for the little ones. I didn't study it much because we had no little kids in tow, but it seems for a small fee or season pass, parents can take their babes into the fields for some swinging, slides, a hay ride, etc. Then there are the local goodies you can buy like fresh meats, jams, nuts and a few other things. I bought so many pumpkins and straw bales (remember I noted the reasonable prices?) that I needed a few wagons. Not sure if it was the owners or employees, but whoever came to help load everything into our truck was friendly. Go have a look and a buy if you want a lovely weekend drive and a good taste of fall. Post photos of your porch here after your visit.

Admission was super reasonable at $12 per person and that included all the activities. They also offer a military discount which we really appreciated. The animal area was a hit - feeding the goats (just 25 cents!) was so cute and there were also a miniature donkey, pony, and a rabbit. We were a little bummed the hayride wasn't running when we visited, but there was still plenty to enjoy. The sweet treats and drinks were a nice bonus - frosted pumpkin sugar cookie + lemon shakeup = perfect fall combo! Overall, it was a great day full of classic fall fun. Definitely recommend for families or anyone wanting to soak up the season!

I am really surprised by the previous yelp's I read. This is a small family owned business and they were all running around keeping things clean and in order. I really think people need to be careful right now more than ever leaving a bad review because you may be in a mood yourself. If your heading to an outdoor event I would not expect all people to be walking around outside in a mask. If your that afraid you just may want to stay home an order a pumpkin on line. Don't leave a poor review on a local business working hard to stay up and running. This farm has been in Hartville for a long time. That's why it gets packed so quickly. Loyal customers that enjoy a great service they provide to our community. If your looking for a fun day out I highly recommend stopping here.

At the same time the sun sets, it starts raining. The maze gets pretty muddy pretty quick, and while we're able to find everyone else in our group, we can't find my brother. A short while later, six of us succeed in finding the exit. I get on my cell phone to call my brother. It's still raining at this point. He insists he's fine but very lost and going in circles. So we agree to stand by the exit shouting "Marco" and waving our flashlights to help him find his way out. After about five minutes of doing this, the maze owner comes over. He's pretty irritated because us shouting is "driving him nuts." Only after he's said that does he ask if we're trying to find someone. We say yes. So he heads into the maze. He emerges a couple of minutes later saying he found my brother, but my brother isn't with him - although we can now hear his voice. The man stalks off, so we head back in to get my brother. We then find out what took so long. My brother wasn't "fine" like he claimed. He had slipped in the mud, hurt his back, and sprained his ankle. He can only walk like 3-5 steps before needing to stop. We hustle him out and to the car. As I look towards the gate, the man is sitting there with a couple of other workers, talking. None of them tried to call for help nor tried to get any type of vehicle to pick up my brother nor offered my brother a shoulder to lean on or a cane to help him walk. They just left my brother, injured and barely able to walk, alone in the maze after vaguely pointing him in the right direction. They were more concerned with us shouting "Marco" to get him to safety than the fact someone had been injured on their property. We won't be going back.

Was looking for a corn maze to take my son to last weekend Yelp brought me here. Is it a great corn…read moremaze? No. Is it good enough? Yes. It's about your average corn maze and once we got here I quickly realized the corn maze isn't why people are coming here. It's something to do sure, but people are mostly coming here for the donuts and drinks from my observation. First, the food. The drinks looked delicious! I didn't get anything though. We spent $49.40 on food. We ordered pulled pork nachos, the donut fried mozzarella stick, a cup of ice cream, 1 dz asstd donuts, and a bag of caramel apple kettle corn. My son is picky and DEVOURED the fried mozzarella stick! The nachos were ok. Nothing to brag about. The donuts were about the same. I ate a vanilla cake chocolate dipped donut and it was SO sweet! Too sweet. Like sweet to the point I was regretting not having coffee with it. I tried another one today - with coffee - and it was definitely more of a balance. Kettle corn is good. Activities. The corn maze was cool and $6 for the 3 of us. A little too peopley for me at times. The ground is uneven, but overall it was fine. Paid $6 for my son to do the play area. He liked it and mostly played on the tires and slide. The corn pit was anxiety inducing. There was a whole gang of kids crowding the stairs for the twist slide - dumping buckets of corn over the railing. A little too rowdy and unsupervised imo. Service was quick and efficient. They got a pretty good system there. They also have plenty of photo ops! That's one thing that really stood out to me. I'd love to go back when they first open to take advantage of all the photo ops. Perfect for photos to use on Christmas cards.

Peaceful Motorcycle-Friendly Getaway!…read more Booking through the Hipcamp app was super easy--I picked the exact campsite I wanted without any hassle. I was traveling by motorcycle and ended up arriving late at night, so I messaged the hosts ahead of time. They quickly let me know that late arrivals were no problem and that check-in was completely self-serve, which made things simple. Finding my spot was easy once I arrived. I stayed at Campsite #4, conveniently close to the parking area, which made unloading and reloading my bike a breeze. The little shack at the site was awesome! It even had a tarp you can unroll and secure over the doorway for a bit of privacy when you turn in for the night. The latrine was located near the check-in area, and the whole property had a calm, quiet vibe. There were other campers around, but it honestly felt like I had the place to myself. It's nothing like those packed chain campgrounds with big RVs and noisy crowds--this spot was peaceful, rustic, and relaxing. You can't beat the pride note, excellent value! I'll definitely be coming back for another stay on my next ride through the area!

Cute little place that I never really knew existed!…read more My husband and I came here in mid-October to pick some pumpkins and they still had a decent selection. Not many of the green variety but lots of orange and white ones. Prices seemed a little high ($8-9 for an average-sized one, $10-$14 for the large ones, $6-7 for smaller ones). They also had a nice selection of gourds ($1 each), and other decorative or pie pumpkins ($4). Not bad individually, but if you're looking to buy enough for a family or front yard display, it can add up quickly. We picked out 4 and paid $28. In addition to pumpkins, they had a variety of fall activities including a small corn maze, hay rides, and scavenger hunt ($4/ticket for each, I think). We don't have kids so I can't speak to it from that perspective. We went on a gray, drizzly Sunday afternoon so it wasn't very crowded. Appreciated that they require masks throughout the property, though out on the scavenger hunt trails people weren't always abiding.
