They only have a few sweet wines the sweetest being the red dolce. It's fruity and sweet. We like it. They have semi sweet and dry as well. They have a porch/patio and inside are some chairs and tables. They also have a loft area. That's where we went. The place was hoping around 1p on a Sunday when we went. A book club was there and several couples. They also had a coffee tasting from a local grower. The smell of fresh coffee was very overwhelming so we had to try. The service is good. Staff is nice. Prices about average. They have some food and you can bring your own. The issue and unfortunately there was one, was that there were thousands of fruit flies invading the place. I guess they crushed grapes for harvest and the fruit flies are a thing that happens. It was very annoying and obnoxious. Wine, food, and you had to be covered because the flies were on every surface. It was rainy so no outdoor escape on the patio. There are ways to control the flies. Use that blue light to attract them or something. If you want people to sit and drink. Make it easy. Flies are not making it easy. We will go back. But I'll call to make sure flies are gone.

It had less variety and square footage than the free city greenhouse, Rockefeller Gardens (stellar place!). My 8 yr old's admission was a joke because she declared it was very hot and stepped outside to the front desk and gift shop within a minute of stepping inside. Honestly, children under 10 should be free with the amount of interest holding them there. There was only 1 other separate room with some bonsais and a caged chameleon that was displayed in a way that was hard to see. In mid April, many flowers/fruits still weren't in bloom or already bloomed or I don't know. The conservatory itself only gets 3 stars in my opinion but the best part is actually the outer grounds and trails. The trails were great and we got to see all sorts of birds (blue jays, mallards, Canadian geese, woodpeckers, finches, etc.), squirrels, chipmunks, deer. The small garden area surrounding the butterfly cage was cute. We also saw the world's cutest dog there that I mistook for a rabbit--a baby French bulldog.

I made an impromptu decision to take my son and boyfriend to Miller Nature Preserve because I knew it would be dry inside the conservatory and from what I remembered, there were some paths along the building outside. We started inside, which is amazing on its own. We paid $2 per person to go inside and experience the warm humid climate and jungle like setting. Tropical plants are everywhere, along with some cactus and bonsai trees. It's a great place to go anytime of year, but I would imagine winter months would be very enjoyable here to warm up and see some greenery. Then we walked around outside in their garden areas, which is really pretty too. Not too much to look at this time of year as everything is transitioning to winter. We were surprised to find a gravel path that went into the woods outside of the parking lot. We didn't pay attention to the map posted at the beginning of the trail, as we assumed it would be a short path. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised and very wrong! We walked through the woods for about an hour. We didn't see anyone else on the path so it was quite magical. The trees were just starting to change and the sun would peak out from the clouds occasionally. At some point the path seemed to feel like we were on someone's private property, and we were very confused, but the garden area we came across was beautiful. All sorts of cool stones, a little pond, and millstones galore. Then we somehow ended up on the trail again, which ran next to a creek. There were benches scattered about the trail as well. I never knew these trails were back there! It was an enjoyable adventure and I hope to come back soon!

They had a ton of different types and strains of garlic on their site, some that I had never heard of. I picked out 4 different bulbs to segment into cloves to be able to plant this November. Hopefully, harvest will be ready between June or July. Just in time for some summer BBQ. The reason for my 5-star review is because the on-line catalog and descriptions were easy to navigate. Ordering was very easy, even though it went through Etsy. Shipping was fast and arrived on time. I ended up having a couple of questions and the response back via e-mail was super quick and detailed with just what I needed to know. All of the bulbs arrived in perfect condition, clearly marked and separated, each in their own net bag. I ordered an Italian Red, a Spanish Red (Rojo), a Metechi, and a German Giant White. I have already got them in 5-gallon fabric pots with a layer of loose mulch on top, per the planting instructions. Since it takes about 9 months from planting to harvest, I will update then on my review. I did take 1 clove from each bulb to try and eat directly (take that Dracula!) Amazingly enough you really could taste the difference between the types of garlic. The Metechi has a powerful, kinda hot, flavor to it. The German Giant was much milder. And there was a difference between the Italian and the Spanish reds. Super excited to go on this journey and happy that I found BJ Gourmet Garlic Farms. In full disclosure, I did happen to hit them at a time when they were having a 50% off sale. But after the arrival condition of their product, their helpfulness and speed of response to my questions, and the quick shipping times, I would happily pay full price. I'll start with a 5-star review for this wonderful experience. I hope you give them a try.
