I removed the rice and sides (because nothing was wrong with them) and I asked if he could replace the burnt meat with new ones. Not only did he say no, but he started telling me I don't know anything and that he's been cooking like that for ten years (a quick look at the menu picture would prove him wrong). I told him meat shouldn't be this burnt and it was probably caused by not cleaning the grill. Plus, burnt meat is really not good for you and I couldn't give that to my children. That's when he exploded with anger and started yelling at the top of his lungs. He threw my plate back to me and told me to go away. Not only that, he was waving the utensils in the air like a madman and I was a little concerned for my safety. At that point I realized it was no use talking to him. I couldn't believe a person such as him who is so rude to the customers is in business. I have never experienced that kind of service from a dining establishment in my life. Just to be clear, Koryo was one of our favourite places in the mall. We went there every time we went shopping. We think the sauce and potato sides are delicious. We will continue going to Koryo at other malls for sure. We just have a problem with the person working at one of their establishments. I'm assuming he may be the owner too because I don't think any employee in his or her right mind would yell at a customer with that much rage over a few pieces of burnt meat. As soon as I walk up, they nod their heads and the chef throws a salmon steak on the BBQ. Its the only Korean BBQ that I visit and the food is AMAZING! Every time I go to Bower mall, I make a point of eating at Korean BBQ. Although, the entire menu is awesome, my favourite meal is the salmon steak with salad & potatoes YUMMY! We're a family of 11 and enjoy dining out together regularly, so some of us were excited to try this place so we can bring the rest of the family. Unfortunately, the situation escalated to the point where we decided to leave before even ordering. If you're going to be this strict, it would make more sense to just charge one flat price instead of putting customers in an uncomfortable position. The only critique I have regarding the food is that there weren't that many side dishes (banchan) and the lettuce on the side was an extra $5. Service was on point. Thu and the woman server, I forgot her name, worked well as a team to make sure everyone was taken care of even though they had to walk up and down those stairs probably 10+ times just when I was there.

The inside is also rather small, they seat maybe 7 tables each with 2-4 people per table. There's tons of traditional Korean decorations everywhere. The staff is also all Korean and greet you in Korean. There's unlimited high quality purple bean rice. The sides are nothing to write home about other than the macaroni salad. They had an interesting take on it by adding imitation crab - I'm not sure I liked that part. Otherwise it's similar to the chain BCD tofu. The ever popular seafood pajeon (a pancake-like dish) is made extremely thick and therefore isn't crispy at all like pajeon normally is. I don't really recommend this item. Interestingly there's a bulgogi dish with vegetables and noodles (thin, clear). Makes the dish much more hearty. The flavor and quality was pretty good. Seafood tofu soup. They do a great job of making it spicy if you ask. The flavoring has that umami feel. Overall, not overwhelmingly amazing. A bit on the pricey side. They do have a very wide range of menu items and some pretty authentic items that aren't normally regularly provided in Korean restaurants. Service is fine - didn't meet anyone rude or anyone particularly amazing either.
