MUCH more crowded MUCH closer to neighbors MUCH more expensive MUCH to many large trees with canopies that shade the sites AND provide ample amounts of tree sap on everything. WAY to many people making way to much noise without regard for neighbors. WAY to many people on a site. Rarely did anyone express a "hello" or any common civility. Camping sure isn't what it used to be..!

However we will not come back. We are Seniors and Thank gosh first 2 nights we had Quiet Peace. Come Friday we were ready to leave. Why on earth would a Campground have so many big rigs amongst the Popups, Tents practically on top of each other. The roads are not wide, curves everywhere. The trees need trimming big time. Into the night Campers driving in, lots of noise, car doors. If you want Peace and Quiet and Serene atmosphere "DON'T COME TO INDIAN SHORES" An Airstrip so close the planes are coming and going into the dark. Very Expensive and No Dump station. Lots of Improvements needed!!! Over 250 sites. DONE. DONE. DONE

My biggest complaint is no plug ins near the bed. Even the lamp was strong across the room to plug in next to the table. The other lamp cord went behind the bed frame that I couldn't move. If you're traveling with a suitcase that is heavy like mine (49 lbs) being on the 2nd floor is a nightmare. No elevator. The young lady at the front desk did offer to help when I asked about an elevator but my suitcase looked bigger than her. But no offering of a 1st floor room. Maybe they were sold out. The kitchen was the weirdest design. All steel or metal. Not really stocked to cook anything unless you brought your own pots and pans. I did call and ask if they had any pots bigger than the 1 cup in the room and they said no. But fridge did have a freezer which was nice. Bed was soft they had a mattress topper on it. My suggestion is only come if you plan to unplug and eat out.

When I just called I was told there is no wait list and that they had posted the available rooms to the reservation sites and booked them without informing me or anyone else on the wait list. When I asked why that was; they hung up on me!! This was extremely unprofessional!! Not to mention very rude. Now our party has no place to stay at this late date. In the end, they were very unprofessional and their word means absolutely nothing!!

Everyone at the resort knew them and all the staff would finish their shifts and hang out with the guests. I can honestly say that I haven't been more comfortable at a resort in a long time. The cabins are fantastic. The lodge is a place where you can hang out all day and night and still be comfortable. Plenty of places to play on land and an entire lake to your disposal. They'll bring in tennis pros, water skiing pros, fishing pros, you name it. They'll make you anything that you want to eat--just thinking, is this place heaven? If you want a fun getaway with the family and/or friends, think about this place, but make sure to book in advance. Families come back here year after year and it might be tough to try and get in.

What defines the salad bar as great are the homemade salads, we tried tuna/pasta/pea salad, three bean salad and cauliflower /broccoli /carrot salad which were all great. We were there on a Friday night and had the fried haddock which is one of the better fish frys I've had in WI. It comes with the salad bar/potato & traditional rye bread. We had the homemade strawberry and the blueberry pies that were devine and I'm told that people put their pie slices on order when they make their reservations. A place not to be missed when you're up north!

Absolutely beautiful, sprawling campground just outside of Rhinelander. It's directly across the…read morestreet from the lake, but the swimming beach is tiny. I called the owner twice; once to make the initial reservation and once when we were checking in for the weekend. She answered promptly both times. She was very accommodating getting us to our site on Friday afternoon and offered to deliver firewood. They require you to purchase the wood onsite ($7 for a 5 gallon bucket) which would be fine if it was dry. Unfortunately it wasn't and it just smoked us out. The campground is much bigger than you'd expect when you pull in. All of the sites are shaded and offer privacy. The shower house and bathrooms were very clean. I didn't actually use the showers but was told they are free. There are quite a few permanent sites but I didn't find the golf cart usage to be overwhelming like you find at other grounds with a large permanent site presence. All the other campers were quiet and respectful. All campsites offer water and electric. We will absolutely camp here again. My only reasons for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the cost ($40/night) and the wet firewood.

We attended a family wedding at the Red Crown Lodge recently. It was a lovely affair in a beautiful…read moresetting. But there were a number of flaws that fall short of a five star rating. The biggest downside was the setting of the ceremony. The lake in the background was stunning, but the seating was all a tilt. Not a single seat was level and the seats in the rear were lower than the seats in front. It was also a difficult venue for the elderly and infirm. If the couple selected this location I would excuse the venue, but as I walked around the grounds I didn't see a better setting for the number of guests in attendance. At least the setting for the dinner was level. And it was a tasty dinner. I don't know if the Red Crown kitchen provides the food or if it is catered in. I'm assuming it was prepared by the Red Crown staff so I'll critique it in my review. The dinner was an up north "surf & turf." The steak was tender and well seasoned. The seasoned crumbs on the walleye filet worked taste wise but were not as crisp as they should be (however probably as crisp as they could be when serving over a hundred plates). The fish itself was not over cooked or under cooked and therefore it was moist and flaky. The sides (potato and veggies) were well cooked and properly seasoned. It was certainly one of the best wedding dinners I've had lately--but keep in mind that Wisconsin is the home of "broasted" chicken wedding reception meals (and as a retired preacher I've lost count of how many times I've eaten greasy fried chicken). The other Red Crown amenities were also very nice. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres were served an a stunning lodge constructed with north woods logs and timbers. The bartenders were capable and able to mix anything you asked for. The Red Crown offers several signature drinks including a unique "old fashioned" that my wife reports was "very good." I can be picky with my reviews and I'm stingy with my stars, but I have to conclude be saying that north of the 45° parallel in Wisconsin, the Red Crown is as good as it gets.

Breathtaking easterly views of Trout Lake. Outstanding service staff...tough to find in the seasonal Northwoods. Excellent food & drinks on their outdoor patios and indoor rustic lounge.
