It was such a fun, unique and refreshing trip to take in the winter. It truly seemed like we were in a real life snowglobe. The resort itself seemed to be about 13 cabins. We were in one that comfortably slept 6 grown adults. We also were able to bring our little pug up with us (For a small additionally fee). The family that runs the resort is as sweet as can be. Very hospitable & has a great resort dog that we saw running around during our time there. The snow had fallen fresh, making it a bit difficult to get out of the drive way but it was plowed in record time. I would of loved to enjoy the back deck of the cabin more (that had an awesome hanging bed!) or been able to have my dog use the dog park - but sadly he was sinking in the snow. The cabin came pretty fully stocked in the kitchen - which was helpful for the meals we were planning. The bathroom/shower was great and had plenty of hot water. Fire wood was abundant for the fireplace within the cabin. And the lake was great to see all snow covered. I hope I get the chance to enjoy this part of the Northwoods in the summer!

Black's Cliff Resort is by far the gem amongst the many other good options. I have to give the credit to my girlfriend who found the place, and also the time of year, first week of June, it was so quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the Birchwood cabin, right next door to the resort keepers place, home to the resort dog a regal golden retriever who seems to be doing very well in his professional role. The cabin was amazing, with a fireplace inside, stocked with local firewood, and a backyard fire pit. A breezeway overlooking the lake with a bed hanging from the ceiling was the perfect spot for a Sunday afternoon snooze after the drive up from Chicago. Later in the evening, after dinner, I noticed the light fading and wandered down the stairs to one of the most thrilling sunsets I have witnessed. And I was the solo witness because not a soul was stirring on that lake in early June, and evening chill negated my girlfriends interest in the natural beauty. That night, on the soft bed, I had the best night's sleep in at least a year.

Upon entry, I noticed that the kitchen table had dried up food and dried up liquid on it. Walking around the lodge, I noted that all three toilets had yellow scum in the bowl. Before my guests came I had to scrub down the table and clean toilet bowls. The deck was full of pine needles and looked like it hadn't been swept all summer. On Sunday, two of my toddler grandchildren stepped in dog poop in the yard. My son scooped up seven piles of dog poop. The vinyl in the kitchen floor is tearing at the seams and heavy duty tape has been placed over the fraying seams in at least five areas. When bringing these issues to the attention of LAKEWOOD RENTAL MANAGEMENT, they refunded me $100.00 and thanked me for telling me of the issues so that they could tell the cleaning crew. I told them that I thought a $100.00 refund was an inadequate amount based on a $4787 rental. It was not adjusted. And the final issue--on the Sunday after we left, I emailed LAKELAND RENTAL MANAGEMENT telling them that my daughter had forgotten to take her diamond stud earrings that were left on the night stand. I named the specific bedroom. No surprise here--the earrings were not found.
