What a wonderful surprise! Friendly and lively atmosphere! It was recommended to us so we thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did. Old fashions were tasty but weak by Wisconsin standards. Didn't stop us from ordering more. 1/2 lb hamburger was awesome and perfectly cooked with tasty fries to go along! Salad was fresh and abundant. My rib eye had a delicious smoky rub and was charred perfectly to medium rare. Mashed sweet and white potatoes were a delight as well as the side of charred corn and peppers. But the best was the order of sautéed mushrooms for the steak!!! Portobello and shiitakes! Yikes! Wish we had room for the home made cheesecake. Darn! The pizza looked thin and amazing. Bartender was a primadonna!! At first. I'm not a tourist. I am a local man invited for fish fry What a joke. Was 7 of us and not enuff fish left for all. Then it was all you can eat and My 4 - 1 oz pieces of fish were severely overcooked. I said so but not response. The blessing came at the end when he said there was no charge. Come to find out the chef did not cook my dinner the manager did. I had fun Even tho food sucked. Need new manager that's not related by marriage. I've been there before and it was great. I'd say this last experience was tied to management. He did come out to the bar but acknowledged no one while in the bar area. Plus tourists got extra treatment. Locals got slo service and poor food. Had an awful experience in the restaurant. Waitress ignored empty glasses. When food arrived she refused to bring condiments after asking twice. We come here over the years, but service and supervision has gotten worse and worse. Place is for sale. We're not returning until new owner management. read more

Went on a Monday night for a $2 quarter pound burger special and it didn't disappoint. My husband and I had a burger & fries, a beer, and a couple of brandy old fashion drinks and the tab was $35. Everything was tasty and the burger to bun ratio was spot on. The $2 burger isn't gigantic so if you're hungry order 2 burgers which is what I saw a lot of people order. We stayed at a cabin attached to the lodge over New Years Eve not even realizing we'd be lucky enough to have a bar/restaurant within walking distance. We ate a few meals here including their Friday night fish fry and lunch and enjoyed the food. The drinks are well made and very affordable. The servers were friendly and made us feel welcome. It seems like a hot spot for visitors in the area as it was frequently busy. read more

There's not a lot of places the will "Wow" as much as this place does. First off,a lot of the workers are super friendly and helpful. They're always making sure your okay and happy without being too much or annoying. Second, the environment is absolutely amazing. It just feels super cozy or warm. It feels very old school in there. You've got the mason jar lights,the log walls,the fire place,and the moose head on the wall, it just feels like a nice and comfy cabin. And third,the food,I could talk about the food for hours. They've got there Famous Cuban, which is filled to brim with flavor, the fantastic Artichoke Dip, it's creamy,cheesy,and just all around delightful, and my personal favorite, the Chili Cheese Fries, made with the famous Ed's Chili. A perfect amount of sweet, spicy, and savory! This place is amazing for get togethers, romantic dates,and just having a few at the bar. read more

All four of our food orders were over cooked and dry. The cook(s) need to be retrained by actual restaurant cooks or goto cooking school. On the bright side, the waitress, was nice and friendly read more

We went to check out the famous Cuban sandwich ....it was very tasty! In up north magazine it said they had entrees, we did not find the same menu as mentioned. The staff was very nice. It was tucked away in a campground/ trailer park. It was a bit of a drive from the Minocqua area but we were looking for somewhere different. Good for larger groups. read more

Bruce the bartender is topnotch. We stopped in for some snacks and drinks. The place seemed like they spent a lot of time on on making it very nice inside. The prices seemed a bit high for Northwoods standards, but not unreasonable. We tried the cheese curds and the chili. Cheese curds were good. The Chili was awesome. It was kind of sweet and much different than other chili's I have had. The views here are great! It is a bit off-the-beaten-path, but we were glad we stopped in. I am sure it would be fun to stay at the cabins here. read more

Get the Cuban, you WILL NOT regret it! We visit my husband's parents' home a couple times a year and always look forward to taking to boat to Moose Jaw (longer drive in the winter but still worth it!). Since the new ownership, it's even better. The new staff is very welcoming to their customers even though they know I'm clearly not from up north. It's a nice change from several years ago. Anyway, you must try the Cuban sandwich... it is the best I've ever had and you might feel the same! My only complaint is that the ladies room could use a good cleaning. read more

Worst meal ever. Tried to blame the holiday for a half hour wait for a drink then an hour and a half for salad. Meal two hours with a well done prime rib that was ordered medium rare. Waitress was unbelievable. I think they must have started yesterday. Don't bother unless you have nowhere else to eat. I'm sure they are nice people. The bartender actually came to the table and got in my face. Again unbelievable. read more

I've been a Moose Jaw patron since the late 70's, a 5th generation local. Through the years I've seen a few owners at Moose Jaw and these new folks seem to have the right combination. Family friendly, great food and reasonable prices. After a minor menu snafu, I ordered a fried fish sandwich and a cup of chicken noodle soup. Food was awesome, portion size perfect, friendly bartender doubled as my waitress and my food came out fast and hot as freshly prepared. Best of luck to the new owners! read more

A group of 10 of us went to this establishment over Harley Fall Ride Weekend (Sept 17th) and went straight to the dining room which was empty. To make a long story short we ordered almost immediately as the dining room started to fill up about a half hour after we were seated. All of a sudden we noticed that everyone around us was getting their food and we were now going on over an hour with still no food and very little service. When we asked the waitress what was going on, she explained that "they were serving the smaller groups first". WHAT....are you kidding me? We finally got our food after OVER 1 1/2 hours and some of us got COLD to LUKE WARM food. We asked for our checks right away because it took almost 2 1/2 hours at his place TO HAVE A MEDIOCRE LUNCH. We will never be back and the fact that we had to ride our motorcycles on a gravel driveway into the place added to the pain. All in all....this place just plain sucks!!! read more
