Very quaint condo, hotel, and resort, charming, Northwoods decor, and perfect location for hitting the snowmobile trails. Most of the rooms have a small balcony that in the summer would be perfect for cocktails overlooking the beautiful tree line lake in your backyard. In the winter time, there's a whirlpool tub in the bedroom to look out over the snow, covered trees and beautiful winter wonderland while you soak the stress away. Because it's condos almost all the rooms have a small full kitchen, though it's not well stocked. Small conveniences like a vase for flowers would be helpful. read more

They call these rooms condos because they are owner owned and have kitchen supplies ie plates glasses and Silverware plus knives, sizzles, Pizza Cutter, wine/bottle Opener Etc. My husband had a dinner meeting so we picked up a pizza from Tastys Take and Bake in the early afternoon for me to eat later for dinner. We needed a room for one night. We had already been away from home a few days and were making our way back. I did not pack a swim suit so Rented a room with a jacuzzi. We visited the local Walmart where I was able to pick up some lovely scented epson salt for my achy body. I was kicking myself for not picking up paper plates and napkins at Walmart but was relieved when I saw plates and paper towel in the room. The room itself was comparable to many hotel rooms we stay in. But this one had an actual balcony with chairs facing the highway that runs a bridge between two bodies of water. Has a cute little fireplace but we didn't use it. Took me a bit to figure out the heating/cooling. The room was a bit warm when we checked in so we opened the balcony door to cool it down a bit. (It is Nov 2nd and highs in the low 30s). We like it cool when we sleep. We got to town a little after 11:30. After lunch and shopping I called a little after 1 pm to see if our room would be ready earlier than the 4 pm check in. Lucky for us it is the off season and our room was already ready! The price was cheap too for a jacuzzi king room. The clerk who answered the phone was friendly and welcoming. The location is great at the edge of town. It is a large hotel so if you want to use an elevator to haul your luggage in/out you may have to travel a bit. Otherwise you will be hauling it up or down stairs. We didn't stick around for the Complementary breakfast as we know of a great coffee shop in town that has excellent oatmeal etc. I have no idea what these rooms go do in high season but for $135 plus tax a night it was a comfort. read more

My sister stayed at the Pointe over Labor Day and highly recommended it, so we decided to take a quick weekend break here. I think all rooms have water views but I'd advise trying not to have rooms in the 20's as they front the highway and can be noisy. Our room was spacious, had a (fake) fireplace and a 2-person whirlpool tub. We also had a patio overlooking the water and a small kitchenette set up with a small fridge, microwave and toaster. Breakfast is included - it's a pretty basic spread but it's free. WiFi is free too, and worked well for us. The grounds are well kept, with fire pits, picnic areas and nice docks on the lake. There's also a pool in the main building. No bar/restaurant but there is plenty in easy walking distance - downtown Minocqua is just across the bridge. I was really impressed at how CLEAN and comfortable everything was. They're serious about Covid with enhanced cleaning, masks required in common areas and more. Staff was really friendly too. We will definitely stay here again. read more

We have been going to the Point every year for several years now with a large group. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure we have a great experience. Exceptional. Respects the pandemic. Room was spotless, necessary precautions in place throughout the hotel. Courteous staff. Sparkling pool and whirlpool (indoors). Complimentary breakfast was a little less than most places, but I can only judge that from traveling in the "before times." It was apparent this offering was set up to not have anything that could be cross-contaminated by many people interacting with it. Not a complaint. Location, location, location!! This is my kind of "up North". I don't fish, I don't have a boat, I don't hunt, nor do I have a snowmobile. Regardless, I still love getting away from Milwaukee and waking up to the sounds of the loons. I love standing on a dock and staring at the lake. I love the sunrises, the sunsets, and the smell of the Pines. I love the proximity to great supper clubs, and I love tooling around small rural towns. Guess where I can get all of that?? Right here. I also love clean hotel rooms, access to an indoor pool and hot tub. But what I really look for in a hotel room is room to stretch out and a whirlpool tub big enough for my wife and I! The Pointe has all of this. We could not have been happier with our decision to stay here during a mid-September weekend. We'll defiantly be back. We might even decide to stay here for good one day. Came to Minocqua very last minute and super late at night to be with my grandpa in the hospital and went to The Pointe at midnight to see if they had any rooms available, which they did. We got a two bedroom suite that had two bedrooms, one with two twins and the other with one queen. There were two full bathrooms, two balconies, a living/dining room area, and a full kitchen. The room was very clean and the décor was very country/rustic. The staff was so friendly, accommodating, and surely went above and beyond for us. Every day we were very up in the air on whether or not we needed to stay another night, and each day the staff delayed our checkout time for us and held the room in case we needed it. They were very reasonable and constantly asked us how my grandpa was doing. The service and staff members are what is driving the 5 stars behind this review. Overall, the breakfast was okay, but certainly didn't exceed my expectations, the hotel was very clean and accurately decorated, the view of the lake from the room and the dock was beautiful, the room was fairly priced, and the service was amazing! This was my family's first time staying on the hotel/condo side of The Pointe. We were unsure what to expect but it was really nice. Each room is privately owned and rented out through The Pointe's rental service. We had 2 adults and 2 children in a one bedroom and bad plenty of space. The views are unbelievable when on lakeside. Staff are nice, rooms are clean and spacious. Kitchen is small but has the things needed to cook within your room. Overall, great experience and we can't wait to stay here again. read more

We loved this placed, we had a great view, a roomy suite, breakfast was included, and it's located over looking the lake. The place was built in the late 80's and the décor kind of shows it but it still a very nice place. They have a nice pool, hot tub, work out room, and sauna. Our suite included a jetted tub for two, a balcony over looking the lake, an electric fireplace, and a full kitchen. A 3.5 rating would better suit the Pointe, but alas no half stars are permitted. The Pointe is in a fantastic location over looking the lake, which was beautiful in the winter and I assume spectacular in the summer. For me that is where the love affair ended. Built in the late 80s, not much upgrading has occurred, but the place is comfortable enough. The rooms are of a decent size, although the one bedroom suite only had a queen bed. The bedding is on the cheaper side and not very plush. Luxuries are nonexistent, but there are two TVs, and the kitchen, albeit older has a microwave, dishwasher, stove and working ice maker. The rest of the furniture was a little in the cheap side, yet fully functional. The free hot breakfast was a hit in the old conference room, but was lacking in fresh fruit and lighter fare items. Although they did have plenty of waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausage and hash browns if your craving meat and carbs. All in all, i would say this place would be perfect for a budget conscious family wanting nice lake views and access that doesn't need fancy or updated rooms. read more

Amazing-we were Very pleasantly surprised at this relaxed peaceful retreat . QUIET and CLEAN is how I would describe this little place. The price was a lot less for the very immaculately clean resort and room. The staff is very helpful. We have stayed in other places over the years (and across lake 3 other times) and by day two was regretting all the years we skipped over The Pointe Hotel. Every other place over the years we have paid SO MUCH more for far less. We will be going back for sure! Yes, EVERY room faces the beautiful Minocqua Lake-ask to be on the first floor for quick beautiful access to the pathways. We're two school-teachers who desperately seek quiet places when we vacation and this fits our desire for peace, quiet and privacy. read more

This is a nice hotel, but when I arrived at 830pm no one was at the front desk. I made liberty of the computer lobby and registered myself. After another 25 minutes I started looking around until I found the front desk girl (reddish hair with glasses) was sitting by the pool. She saw me and came up front and asked me "can I help you? I don't have anyone else registered for tonight." I informed her that I registered myself and need the key for my room. She gave it to me quickly as if she needed to hurry off and chat with whoever was in the pool area. TL;DR Showed up, no one at the front desk. We had a room booked at the Pointe for a family wedding in Minocqua and after a long drive, arrived to find our reservation had been cancelled and there were no rooms available for that evening. There was no explanation for the cancellation except to say "there's a note in the computer that says you called to cancel". If I had cancelled the reservation, why would I be there trying to check in? The girl at the desk did offer to call other hotels in the area and see if any rooms were available. One was available and when I asked if the Pointe would compensate us for this error on their part, after a discussion with a manager, I was told no, we would not be compensated for our trouble, because again, their computer said I cancelled. I'm a patient person and understanding and know that mistakes can happen, but throughout the whole conversation with the girl at the desk and while she was on the phone with a manager, I was made to feel like I was lying. The Pointe took zero accountability in the fact that this was an error somewhere on their end and instead relied on one line typed in the computer that said "I called to cancel" instead of trying to make amends with an unhappy customer. After discussing this incident with family at the wedding, we figured out where this mystery cancellation came from. Another family member with a similar name to mine had called to cancel their room and the Pointe had in error, cancelled mine. When we tried to clear this up with the Pointe and explain where the confusion came from and the fact that the error was in their side, there still was a denial of any wrong-doing on their end, zero accountability, and most importantly, no apology for the mistake. This could have been a much different review, one with a positive spin if the Pointe had been willing to take ownership of their mistake and least of all, apologize for it instead of accusing me of lying. For the record, we did stay at the Pointe the second night of the wedding weekend because we had no other choice. Believe me, it killed me to do so and I will NEVER stay there again. The hotel is dated. Our room had a very musty/moldy smell to it and the air conditioner did little to cool anything off other than the living room area. read more

They have canoes for free rental but not many other water activities. A sup or floating platform would be nice. Our 1 bedroom suite had a king bed and pull out sofa. Wifi was down all of our stay which is difficult when you are traveling with teens. The person who checked us in said they hoped it would be running by the end of the week but that didn't happen. Breakfast was plentiful if you eat lots of carbs and/or meat. Only an apple was offered as fruit. The kids loved the waffle makers! read more

Stay here on a recommendation of a colleague and glad we did! Quiet and relaxing, beautiful flower arrangements outside. Close to bike & walking paths. Beautiful views of the lake from every room. Had everything you would need in your room including a fan if you need one to sleep with. Breakfast is a little different during the pandemic by taking a tray to the breakfast room and then going back to your room to eat but we all understand that and no one was "hogging" food. Totally fine with not having housekeeping coming every day to my room - do you change your towel at home every day? Nice area for an outdoor campfire & wood provided. You can rent bikes, kayaks or dock your boat at the piers. Social distancing inside & out, everyone were wearing masks as it was posted on the doors for guests to wear. Having a kitchen and living room Is clutch for hosting a soiree with friends and keeping warm via a gas-powered faux flame having fireplace. You will not regret booking a room here with the friendly staff and convenient walk-distance to coveted drinking and eating places, such as the minocqua brewery and polecat and lace. I stayed here in 2014 and gave only a 1 star rating because we had a bad ant problem in our room. We stayed here again in July of 2015, my husband convinced me to try it again, and I'm glad I did, it was a much better experience. No ant problem in our room this time. The staff is extremely friendly + helpful. The free breakfast is more than you'd expect. Our room had a beautiful view this time, and the location is fantastic. (Please note, the wi-fi connection kept going out on us numerous times w/in one simple use of the iPad. Stayed last weekend. Nice room, OK lake view, I wish the trees were trimmed a bit. Dated decor and very used appliances, and furniture. The power outlets in the living room are shot. The plugs will not stay in them. Semi-friendly staff. The night desk person could use a lesson in manners. Very good maintenance man who showed us how to use the DVD player. The written instructions were useless. Please update. Also there were no suitcase stands available. I inquired with the housekeeping staff and the above mentioned desk clerk. These stands really come in handy for short stays so you don't have to unpack/repack. Very inexpensive perk for the guests who are staying for a couple of nights. They could be kept in storage unless requested. Even the cheap places have those. I think this place is also a bit over priced. Also, Minocqua is technically "up north" it has become too much like the Wisconsin Dells for my taste. Too many hipsters walking around looking at their precious smart phones and missing the essence of the place. Sad really. Go a bit further north to the Lac Du Flambeau/Mercer/Hurley area for a real taste of the "up north". read more
