You will find this little nugget right outside of the Residence Inn, in a small alcove. It is the…read morework of Sean O'Meallie who did the sculpture in 2008. It is starting to show signs of wear and is a bit weathered. It also has some graffiti on it. It is 20 feet tall, weighs about 3,000 pounds, and is made from bronze and acrylic paint. It is rumored to have chosen the Residence Inn as the site of the sculpture because the hotel had hosted has a Pajama Party fundraiser benefiting Denver's Road Home program in the past. It is an interesting piece that depicts a cowboy holding up two side arms. The cowboy has heart shaped balloon hat and what looks like a magnet for legs. It is all on a platform. As I mentioned, it is abstract AF. You have to stare at it for a little while to decipher what it is, a cowboy in pajamas. Anyway, as with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. Even though I passed it a few times since I was staying at the hotel next door. I recommend making this stop part of a larger itinerary or checking it out if you are in the area and/or on your way somewhere else, to maximize your time.

It is set next to the Hotel Registration sign leading to the Residence Inn. Drive by viewing! I couldn't find parking, so luckily, traffic came to a stop and I snapped a quick pic. This is definitely a whimsical piece! It's also a sort of abstract since there's basically only a pair of pants and an odd shaped abdomen with a belt in between. What might be perceived at first as arms are actually pistols. There's no face, arms, hands, nor feet. In summary, this is a cowboy with its guns drawn. Cowboy Pajamas is a solid work made from bronze, weighing three tons! It stands at over 20 feet tall. The sculptor is Sean O'Meallie. It was installed in 2008. Why is this sculpture in front of a hotel? This hotel, the Residence Inn at this address, hosts an Annual Pajama Party fundraiser. The fundraiser benefits and raises awareness for the homeless.

The Denver Architectural Society along with help from current building owners opens up these buildings for the public to enter and gaze upon their architectural splendor and learn about their history. DOD also is a time where many museums also open their doors free to the public. This year there was many new additions to the list including some newly constructed downtown high rise skyscrapers and other points of interest such as a behind the scenes tour of the Broncos Stadium and Denver Performing Arts Center, many of these places would be off limits to the general public otherwise.

This was such a fun German holiday market. The food was amazing and we actually came back just to…read moresatisfy our cravings for the German/European offerings. Our first trip was on an incredibly cold day - definitely winter vibes happening with all the festive booths and snow on the ground. Our first stop was to enjoy warm mulled wine. As we have not been to Germany, this was a great time. The market was in a new location at the Auraria Campus / Tivoli Quad in Denver. The layout was really well done, with lots of areas for dining, shopping, games, indoor eating area, a massive holiday tree and even a carousel. Admission is free but parking isn't, so definitely plan for that. We had a blast watching the glass blowing demonstrations, eating brats, sauerkraut and German sausages. We had pastries and gingerbread men also. Shopping booths (40 or so) were spread out and offered so many holiday items. along with glass ornaments, nesting dolls, beer steins and other unique items. There were lots of green space and games to keep folks busy as they ate, took a break or just enjoyed the day while others shopped. Inside the tent, there was also live music and areas to sit down and enjoy your meal on those cold days. Servers were super friendly, helpful and generally in a great mood. We definitely spent some money, but nothing more than you'd expect for a holiday market. We're looking forward to this market next year!

This abundantly large sculpture is located outside of the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse. There is a…read morelarge walkable area called the Dale Tooley Plaza between 14th Ave & W Colfax Ave. I used it to walk to the sculpture from Elati St. & W 14th Ave where I parked. There is street parking, but I wouldn't recommend coming during courthouse business hours! The sculpture was designed by Dennis Oppenheim. It is 45 ft tall and made of 29+ tons of galvanized steel. It's basically a flower (maybe a Calla Lily) opening up. You walk inside of those flower petals. True to the name, its structure allows for ample light to penetrate to the interior. It's cool to walk in between the petals and leaves! The shadows cast on the ground are pretty cool as well as eerie. You almost feel like you're in a jail! I don't think that was an intentional feature he was going for. Chamber in the name is for the Judge's Chamber. Come take a look! I thought it was pretty unique!

The show starts at 7 PM every night through 12/31, and it's the perfect length not too long, so you don't end up freezing. Atmosphere: The park looked magical. They had lights wrapped around the trees, and the colors reflecting on the snow were absolutely gorgeous. It felt super cozy and Christmassy. The park was also very clean and well-maintained, which made the experience even nicer. I brought my dog along, and she loved playing in the snow! My mother-in-law told me that when it's warmer, there's even music that plays in the dancing sculptures section. Cost: FREE activity! This makes such a great holiday activity if you're looking for something festive without spending money. Tips: - Bundle up it's chilly! - Bring something warm to drink. - Watch out for a few icy spots on the path - Dogs are welcome and will probably have a great time! Walking down Larimer Street in Denver, I stumbled upon the Larimer Boy and Girl mural by Jeremy…read moreBurns, and I have to say--it's one of the quirkiest, most unique pieces I've seen in the RiNo district. Painted right on the edges of the building's fins, the mural cleverly changes depending on where you stand. From one angle, you see a girl's face; step a bit to the side, and suddenly there's a boy. It felt like the artist was playing a fun trick on me, turning a plain wall into an interactive experience. The bright, strange-looking faces reminded me of decorated cookies--something both whimsical and a little surreal. I found myself circling the corner just to catch every twist and turn of the image. This mural isn't just art--it's a playful surprise that livens up the street and makes you look twice. If you're in the neighborhood, don't miss it. Jeremy Burns definitely brought some personality and imagination to 2732 Larimer Street.

The Yearling is def one of my favorite art pieces in Denver!…read more It's fun. It's playful. It evokes emotion, even if simply wonder. Is the horse a toy? Is it just a play on scale? Either way it makes you think. I'd agree with many other reviewers that there is a childish quality about it. The artist, Donald Lipski, states that the scale of this work is meant to recall that time in life when even everyday objects seemed monumental. This piece will always get a smile from me when I pass it! So glad it found a home here in Denver!

This is a super adorable sculpture of a chair in Denver!…read more While in town for the day, we wandered around taking pictures with different large items such as the blue bear, the broom and dustpan, and the calves. The Yearling is a bit difficult to take pictures with due to its size, but is easier infinitly easier to get to than the Mint, which is a bit out of the way. I recommend doing a walking tour as a few of these are easy to walk to from each other. Personally my favorite was the dustpan around the corner, but The Yearling was probably number two on my list and is a definite must do if you're in town!
