Overall: This market has leveled up since their debut a few years ago. After experiencing holiday markets in NYC and in Europe and in the growth state where Christkindl is at right now, I'd personally only go to this market once a season. See below for more details. The space: They moved to Tivoli Quad and have significant expanded their vendor list. Their stalls are spread out in the quad. I hope they continue to add more to the vendors so there are more to fill out the empty space. It would've been nice to have staff to man the crowded areas to keep the people moving and direct lines to be off to the side. The extra space in the middle is nice though to get reprieve from the crowded spots. The vibe: The main christmas tree display (Mile High tree that is a cone-shaped structure) is pretty cool and unique. The light changes and doesn't stay the same. Although, I personally don't feel the classic holiday spirit as it would be nice to have an actual tree with decorations. The food: European food options and the two places we tried were actually good. Lots of drinks booths but the food selection was on the mediumish side. -The Perogis Factory - Perogis were well-flavored and dumpling wrap held together (comes with sour cream). Kielbasa was juicy and well seasoned. Loved their sauerkraut - not too sour and not too salty. -Bakery (forgot name) - Had a lot of sweet breads, pastries, quiches and a couple of croissant options. Lemon bread was moist and has a light lemon flavor. Quiches were good (also, freezable) but it's more of a take-home thing since it's not warmed up. Got two quiches - sausage and pepper and spinach, tomato, feta. Average in texture but had flavor. Festival hall: Packed out. Probably because the holiday parade was happening the same night. Prices: Typical holiday market - $$. Pricey-ish. Parking: Insane prices. Nearby parking decks are charging $33+ (day passes only). No hourly rates available unless you park far, far, far away. For this reason, it's not worth it for me to go to this market more than once per season. Note: Would be cool if they had music playing.

A fun time in a great new space! Free entry. Many of the stand workers were from Europe and were so friendly and fun to talk to! My favorite was the pierogi factory stand. I really enjoyed their pierogi varieties; yum! The hot wine was expensive and a small cup. But fun to indulge in. Enjoyed seeing the Christmas ornaments and decorations for sale. Great place to welcome the season and hangout with friends over foods, drinks, and festivities.

We really enjoy this market, so much so that we went three different times this year in the week we spent in Denver. We also went last year. I do think it was a little bit better this year in the Tivoli quad. It just felt more spread out, and it was more on paved foot paths than the mostly uneven grass at the park. They decorate everything so festively and the giant mega tree is always fun and it was easier to get into this year as well to see from the underside. This year, even though we came late in the season, we were able to score a commemorative mug so that was cool for me. Most of the vendors are very nice and accommodating even though it's very very busy. I had an amazing pretzel this year and even more amazing cinnamon sugar almonds. The prices are high for most things, but that's kind of to be expected for this type of market. And there are some pretty unique things that are worth paying a little bit more for. All in all, I'll probably be back again next year, even though I don't even live in Denver.

We visited the Denver Christmas market recently, while we were visiting the Denver, CO area on vacation. We definitely was looking forward to visiting this local attractions, as we researched their Google and Yelp reviews beforehand. This Christmas market had plenty of local and international vendors....which was very nice and offered plenty of shopping options. We decided to visit for shopping, eating, and today enjoy their light show on a large Christmas tree.

Denver Christkindlmarket is a big tradition come the winter months. This year, for their 25th anniversary, the market moves to Tivoli Quad in Auraria Campus from the Civic Center downtown due to construction. Though that wasn't the only thing that changed, the number of European markets/vendors seems to had changed too. Given the political climate we're currently in, I guess maybe that's why there weren't as many markets as before and possibly due to location and how many they can have there. Parking was costly compared to last year. We paid $16 for surface lot parking. I did enjoy having multiple paths to wander through the market, it felt more spread out and seemed like more seating was available. We got to some of our favorite food vendors and did purchase a few gifts. Plus our must have souvenir mugs. They were extra cute this year! And bonus!!! We went on Krampus Nacht and meet Krampus himself :)

Christmas tree has an ongoing light show with various images that move synced to music.

We enjoyed the new location. It felt more spread out and not so overly crowded like before. The giant Christmas tree was the highlight, although, they should not allow people to lay down in the middle. Those people just seemed wholly unaware that it's a space to be enjoyed by all instead of selfishly taking up all the room. But alas. The food vendors did a great job. We especially loved the potato latkes. One of the pretzel vendors was serving pretty cold pretzels with the most bland watered down cheese sauce--so I would be selective in who you buy from. Pretzel vendor was right next to the I hear Den sign. Not worth it. The artisans had some really fun items, although very pricy. One vendor was selling ponchos with alpaca fur for over $700! lol. It's worth a peruse. You don't need all day for it. And the beer tent was very pretty and a fun atmosphere.

The Denver Christkindlmarket was a fun event for the family! First, I really enjoyed that there is no entry fee! We parked a few blocks away and then made our way to the event at Auraria campus. The shops were very fun and all of the folks working were extremely nice and friendly. There are so many options to purchase gifts. We bought an ornament and a poster with an image of Denver. We really enjoyed the food as well and the blueberry wine! This is a great place to check out with the family.

Amazing! Such a great Christmas market. I love the location this year. You can watch the drone show from this market! Prices are mid range! Everyone was really friendly at the stalls.

This is such a fun holiday spot! The Denver Christkindl Market has a great atmosphere and feels like a classic European Christmas market. Tons of German-style food options, festive lights, and holiday energy all around. The event is well organized and easy to navigate, even when crowded. Restrooms are porta potties, which is expected for an outdoor market. Perfect place to grab food, walk around, and enjoy the holiday spirit.

I this was our first time to the market- long lines and festive lights, the best part was catching the drone show in the parking lot on our way out! We did have a tasty pretzel, but I would have liked to see more vendors and variety- maybe it was because it was the day before the last day...

Cute family-friendly market with lots of vendors, food and live music! The crowd can be a little overwhelming but makes it feel more festive. I ordered chocolate covered strawberries and a hot chocolate with white chocolate liqueur. Everything was so delicious!

2025 was the second year I've visited. It's a very enjoyable holiday experience, and with the unseasonably warm December weather, it's a good idea to stop by now! I found the atmosphere to be fun and lively with the scent of cinnamon from the roasted nuts in the air, the sound of real German food sizzling, and holiday music playing. The main tent has a stage where they were getting ready to have story time for the kids. How sweet! I remember in the previous location they had great German music going, but I missed that this time. The location at civic center park is better, as I remember feeling like there was room to walk and meander among the booths of crafts and food. Not to mention easier parking. Here at the auraria campus, while a beautiful location, it seemed cramped and no nearby meters, only the upcharge for the parking garage. No thanks. Food booths are set up side by side near the narrow sidewalks full of strollers and walkers, people with dogs dogs dogs and ughhhh no room to really stop and browse. (I was there on a Sunday and there were a ton of broncos fans doing their pre game, I'm sure of it) The set up was the same for the food booths, with ample space behind them so again, didn't make much sense to me. Prices and selection are predictable but it really looks to be handcrafted authentic items made with care and detail. I didn't have a ton of time so I didn't purchase any craft items, and I only sampled a hot cocoa and a big pretzel which honestly was barely warm and a bit dry. The service at the bar inside the tent was spirited and friendly. I will likely return to this fun Christmas market next year, however I do hope it's back at Civic Center park.

    Jägerschnitzel
    Matt C.

One of the quintessential Christmas outings in Denver! The Christkindlmarket is a German/European-style market featuring food, drink, activities, entertainment and shopping. The booths are well-decorated, festive, and everyone seems to be in the holiday spirit. Lines can get long depending on the time of day you show up. If you go visit during the day, you're likely to experience shorter lines and smaller crowds. However if you visit at night, it feels more festive with the Mile High Tree lit up in the background. Food wise you'll find classic German food offerings, as well as various European cuisine to feed the masses. I'm a sucker for Jägerschnitzel with all the fixins, and you won't disappointed with what you'll taste here. Pair it with a German pilsner from Prost and you'll be transported to Oktoberfest. Things to keep in mind: seating/tables are limited (depending on how crowded it is) and in 2025 the event will no longer be held at Civic Center Park. I look forward to this market every year. It's one of the top holiday markets in Denver for good reason. Festive, fun and filling!

Ask the Community - Denver Christkindlmarket

Last year the line to enter was insane on any weekend. Are you doing the same this year?

Hi Jenny, we do not require registration this year, so there are no long lines to get into the market. Please check our FAQ page as well: https://www.christkindlmarketdenver.com/faq

    Are dogs allowed?

Despite the negative response above, I did indeed see many people with their dogs both inside and outside of the festival tent. I do not know if they're technically allowed, I can only report that I did see many dogs.

Is there a Kathe Wohlfahrt at this market?

Kathe Wohlfahrt is not currently a vendor of the Denver Christkindl Market, but we will be looking into seeing if they would like to be involved in future years now that we have moved to a larger space. The Market does have several vendors with…

You…read morehave checked out of your hotel room, your luggage is trapped in a rental car trunk or bell closet, and your plane does not depart until late into the night. You are essentially a displaced traveler with a boarding pass, trying to avoid sitting in an airport terminal for five hours while security employees begin recognizing your face. That is how we ended up at the Denver Milk Market on a Thursday evening. Located in the Dairy Block on Wazee Street, it is a sprawling food hall designed by chef Frank Bonanno. It is a very pleasant sanctuary to kill some time before ascending into the night sky. The beauty of a venue with a dozen or so food counters is that a group of exhausted travelers does not need to achieve any sort of culinary consensus. One person can eat bao buns, another can eat handmade pasta, and a third can get fried chicken while another simply grabs a few drinks without any diplomatic negotiations. While we were wandering, a woman sat at a table with a microphone hosting a game of trivia to what appeared to be an entirely imaginary audience. Not a single person in the room appeared to be participating. It was a fascinating piece of experimental theater focusing on the loneliness of human knowledge. She called out questions about pop culture, agriculture and other various topics into the empty void, completely unbothered by the silence. I respected her commitment to the craft. The alley outside was maybe the finest part of the establishment. The Dairy Block alleyway is paved and lit up overhead. There was also a side room featuring communal seating and free games like skee ball, a shuffleboard table, and foosball. It turns waiting for a late flight into a minor social outing instead of a punishment. My primary critique is aimed not at the food hall itself, but at the city of Denver as a whole. Everything shuts down ridiculously early. The city has built a ecosystem of food halls, alleyways, and bars that is full of potential, yet the municipal clock seems to dictate that all citizens must be safely tucked in by nine o clock. For a traveler trying to enjoy the city after a long day in a convention center or stretch an evening before a red eye flight, this early curfew is an inconvenience. The Denver Milk Market is an attractive and versatile option for the weary traveler or hungry lunch crowd. It may not be a holy site that requires a special trip across town, but if you have some time to burn, a desire for a game of shuffleboard, and a late flight home, it performs its job admirably. Just make sure you get there before the city decides it is bedtime.
