So I got inked by Ronson and I was not disappointed. I had called when they opened to see if they would take a walk-in and ronson was able to take me for a small to medium size tattoo. Ronson was friendly and honest. He finished a small part of my existing tribal work done. And I'd say I'm more happy and with the work he had done then my previous artist. He really knowledgeable about different styles of tribal art and even Filipino tribal. Just give him a call and schedule a appointment for your tribal. While I'm writing this review this business has five stars on Yelp and that is completely reflective of Hilo Tattoo Company. I found out about them through Yelp (thanks Yelp) and then scanned photos of their work on Instagram before going to the shop. I chose them to do a realistic style black and gray tattoo with clean lines and beautiful, readable lettering and that is what Marco gave me. This was my first tattoo ever and from the time I made my phone call, to stepping into the shop, I had a good feeling that things would go well-that I would be heard, taken care of, and provided with quality work and service. Marco worked with me from taking the phone call, to meeting for consultation, and then designing and applying the tattoo. He was kind to me and checked in as he did his work to make sure I was doing fine (since it was my first tattoo). He completed the beautiful outline with a single-go. He truly has natural talent for art that transfers into his tattooing skills, as well (a nice steady hand). I bombarded him with a hundred questions while he worked, which he kindly answered and shared about himself and his experience and passions. It made the experience that much more meaningful and memorable for me. Since I wear this artist's work for the rest of my life, I'm glad to know some of his story. I've been going to this shop for the past 5 years now. HANDS DOWN Hilo Tattoo Company is the best tattoo shop in Hilo. All the artists are super down to earth and friendly, they all have year's of experience tattooing. You can see it in their work. What I love most is the vibe in there. I've been to other shop's where the employee's don't give a damn about connecting with the customer and you're left feeling out of place and not at all comfortable getting a tattoo. But not at Hilo Tattoo, when you walk in it feels like you've known them forever, it feels like family.... Everything is sanitary and properly cleaned. I have never once had any issues with tattoo's I've gotten from this shop. (Can't say the same for shop's I went to in the past) There are five artists at the shop Marco, Ronson, Delshay, Cyrus, and D. They all have many different skills. My go to guy is Marco Barrios. He's been my artist the last 6 years and I've never gone to anyone else because he is GREAT at what he does. The lines are perfect and no matter what I throw at him he's able to incorporate it some way in my sleeve (which you should know I've been making piece by piece which can get stressful) But, Marco always goes above and beyond anything I expect, and he make's it 100x better than what I thought it would be. The several hours I spent with Ronson Kealohi at Hilo Tattoo -- while he talked to me about the tattoo work I wanted, sketched out designs, told me some of his life story, and then gave me a tattoo that's not only truly beautiful but full of meaning -- was one of those amazing experiences that, if you're like me, you try to have more of in life but which insist on coming along randomly and when you don't expect them. Marco was amazing! I popped in to see if he could give me a small wrist tattoo before I caught my flight back to the mainland, and he was able to. I forgot to pull out cash, so he was kind enough to let me get it from a nearby atm after he had already tatted me. You can tell Marco has a genuine kindness to him. He listened to what I wanted, advised on something regarding where I wanted my placement and was able to complete it super fast. I was in and out in less than 40 minutes. Marco and Ronson are awesome!! They did a collaboration on my half sleeve and it turned out absolutely how I wanted it.
