Then you have to have an appointment to establish service. During this appointment, they literally will NOT talk to you about any medical issues you have or any prescriptions you might need. You're supposed to make another appointment for that. This first appointment is just for the APRN to nod her head while you go over your history. They make a big deal about being cheaper than doctors, and it's true, their actual visit cost is less. However, you'll quickly find (if you pay out of pocket like we do) that they have "procedure fees" for everything. For instance, at the doctor we eventually found, I only pay a $35 nurse fee for vaccinations, but at Park Wellness, I was expected to pay the regular office visit fee PLUS an additional amount for a procedure fee, which brought the total to MORE than a checkup with the doctor. Not only that, but I was flat out told that they charge MORE for a procedure fee for people who pay out of pocket than they charge insurance companies. The office manager, who is related to both APRNs and is therefore likely there to stay, is a rude jerk. I'd say more, but frankly, I have so little trust for this place that I don't want to say enough that I can be identified. This was one of the worst "doctor" experiences I've ever had.

Anytime we have needed a same day appointment we have been able to get in. Both APRN's that work at this office truly care about the well being of their patients, they will call and check in after an appointment to make sure you are recovering. During your appointment they listen to all of your concerns and with you come up with an action plan to address the health concerns you have. They do keep you accountable on your end of the health plan, which in my option we all need. I have recommended them to many people and will continue to do so.

The…read moreDard Side Of Addiction or The Dark Side Of Everything This started as a review for our former doctor who unceremonisly removed us from her patient list. No reason that we can discern beyond a few statments made to me about my pain medicine that I have been taking for two years after unsuccessful full hip repacement & subsequent unsuccessful spinal decompression surgery. My wife, who was also her patient was dismissed (we quess) because she has been taking various pain medication for approximately eight years because of her chronic regional pain syndrome. She also has had an unsuccessful herniated disk spinal surgery approximately eight years ago. We are both seventy three years old & also suffer from several less serious but common maladies that accompany our age. Twice our former doctor advised me "these drugs are not for fun, they're for pain." Neither my wife or myself have ever abused our pain medication. Never have we asked for more pain medication. Never have used my pain medication for "fun." Neither has my wife. Our medical & prescription records are easlily accessed by our medical team. We take no illegal drugs. I may be the culprit that caused our former doctor to drop us. The two times she remarked about me "having fun" with my medications I didn't respond. She had previously referred us to a pain clinic which were under another the care of nurse practitioner who handled our pain prescriptions so I assumed that since she was free from that burden, there was no further reason to talk about it. We have been under this PCP's care for about 2 years & had no issues. Our visits were mostly jovial with some serious levity. Aha. Maybe that's it. Perhaps she thought that that levity meant we were not serious about our recovery. Several monther ago in a phone conversation I had said in jest, "this is your pain in the ass elderly couple." And she said, and I'm paraphrasing -- "you're not even close to my pain in the ass patients." And as I said, our visits, although sometimes broaching serious medical issues tended to be a bit positive & upbeat. Once, she ask if I was doing my physical therapy & I said yes, "Getting in & out of my car. Opening packages. Getting up off the sofa, etc.. " It was meant as a joke but . . . I do have respect for physical therapy -- our daughter & daughter-in-law own a physical therapy fitness center. A bit of my history which I think my be relevant to this issue. I was a hippy in the 60's & I was in many rock & roll bands -- and it WAS a "sex drugs & rock & roll" and I lived it. I was married to my first wife &. at 25 she became pregnant & our son was born in 1978. The moment the nurse handed him to me & I beheld an infant that I seemed, for lack of a better term -- a mini me. I saw that I had a chance to give this little guy a much better life than I had survived. My ex-wife, my son's mother was a party girl. We divorced when our son was about five, went thru a bitter custody battle which I lost. I was devastated. A few months later my ex-wife brought him over for a regular weeked visit & never came back to pick him up. So from age five, it was him & me. I quit drinking & drugs because I was afraid I might lose him. A few years later I got a job at a drug & alcohol/psych unit at a local hospital. I knew I needed treatment to stay straight but I couldn't take a month "vacation." So I came in the back way. So I was totally clean & sober for twelve years as I raised him. Then I met my current wife & she's been an angel. She was the mother he never had. More history. My father was a life long alcoholic & drank himself to death. My mother became an alcoholic later in life but died clean & sober. Unfortunately she was addicted to another drug, nicotine (she was a three pack a day smoker.) She was a two time breast cancer survivor but lung cancer got her in the end. My younger brother has been an addict for the last 40 years. As far as I know he is still alive. My youngest brother was an alcoholic/addict with several years sober (he was an administrator for a halfway house before he died of lung cancer). His son, my nephew died of an overdose shortly after his father died, and his sister, my niece committed suicide via overdose shortly after that. So I know the dark side of addiction. I know it all too well. So maybe I broach the subject of addition with some levity. I don't choose levity, I have to. It's either that or I cry. I wish my wife & I could have talked this issue over with our former doctor, but she's made it impossible to reach her. My hope is that maybe if my story gets out those of us with long-term chronic pain will get a bit more empathy.

He eventually diagnosed this as a possible tumor, but his office was never able to coordinate with the referring Dr.'s office to set up an appointment to confirm or deny this.I finally went to a different Dr. who had the matter solved in minutes, I love my new Dr., she is Dr. Leboo in Hilo and is excellent! I walked in today this the second time I have walked in for a scheduled appointment and told I didn't have appointment the office staff said I had a new patient appointment today but that it was canceled and I said why would I have a new patient appointment if I have seen her before then they were on the phone and talking about September and sending me to urgent care. The last time I was suppose to be seen and I walked in they said oh we called (no voicemail) she had a family emergency then they scheduled me a month out to today. I had ultrasound and it says my liver is enlarged and I have no follow up to go over reports and still majorly struggling. It sucks even my mental health appointments have not been happening and my medications not filled. Then I called for a refill of prep for colonoscopy and scope and they didn't even refill the liquid so I'm sitting here like what do I do? How can I even get help. Horrible and while I was in there another female walked in complaining the same thing with medication issues and appointment issues. I told them just cancel all future appointments that I'm moving to Texas for better medical care I truly pray this office improves how they care for their patients.
