A small hotel. My husband (who stayed in Hilton's when he traveled extensively for work) was very disappointed and felt this location was not up to Hilton standards). I agree with another reviewer that the parking ($24/night) was a little steep. Most of the high-end hotels charge for parking, but usually $15 - $20/night. The rooms were small but nice, although the bathroom was in need of updating. 2 major complaints: 1) The water pressure in the showe was terrible. Very poor shower-head 2) The coffee crafe in the lobby was empty when we gathered to meet our group in the morning. We noted to one of the staff, but it was never re-filled. My family and I love this place! I actually live in Jacksonville, FL but my parents like to come and stay here every year for their anniversary and they refuse to stay anywhere else! The location is fantastic, the staff is friendly and they have a nice happy hour! I will say that most years my parents get a complimentary bottle of champagne and unfortunately this year they did not, which they did look forward to also their room's shower did not have good water pressure. They also asked to be upgraded to a better balcony and wound up with a view of the back of some restaurant and two queen beds...my room was 138 and I thought it was fantastic, clean and roomy. Really a great hotel right in the middle of everything in St Augustine. Service was exceptional, and they truly did all they could do make sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. I was shocked at how reasonable the prices were for food/drink - I think a Starbucks coffee here cost less than at a regular Starbucks, and anytime you can get a great drink at a hotel bar for less than $8...score. Some reviews whine about the parking, but consider this - on the street it's $2.50/hr and unsecured; here it's $25 for 24hrs and you can relax knowing your vehicle is safe & secure. In the past, we've stayed at this hotel many times. Perfectly located, central to everything (food, shopping and entertainment). That is the ONLY reason I am giving it 4 stars. Our room (2nd floor, private balcony)(I will withhold the actual room #)seemed to have a moisture problem as there was a very distinct musty (mold???) smell. Safe, Quiet, Clean with Just Enough 'Authentic' Decor. Great staff and very good room service combine with an incomparable location to make this an absolutely trustworthy choice (if they aren't booked up!). I've tried the Casa Monica (less said, the better) and a few of the B&Bs (eh and HOW MUCH?) and three visits to this Hilton have all been just fine. The first time my companion was a tidy version of Streptococcus pneumoniae that delayed my flight back to Europe from Tampa so of course I drove four hours to St. Augustine to recover. I wasn't keen on having a first floor room adjacent to the main street but the windows were stout enough to keep out all the road noise and the locks were equally effective. The second time was during a week of weather best described as a dress rehearsal for hurricane season. Made shopping and sightseeing a challenge but the lack of tourists and traffic were a definite plus. Very nice property with massive hewn pieces of furniture. So handy for the Zombie Apocalypse or if something unwelcome follows you back from one of the Ghost Tours. Just be prepared for one of the smallest bathrooms you'll ever find in a domestic Hilton. It's what was necessary to accommodate the number of rooms, parking spaces and public areas. Functional but cozy in the way an MRI scanner is cozy. A great place for families, weekend Gator getaways or a reward for finishing one more chapter of that dissertation. read more

What a great experience at this hotel! I am all about customer service and look for it more than most (and really ask for more than most as well!ha). From start to finish a bunch of folks at this hotel made my stay awesome! From Chris (Sales) to Ashley at front desk and Mr. Luck--everyone was super friendly and helpful. Now, the place itself is also excellent; killer location and could not be better. The layout is just different and cozier than most hotels; cool little bar area, in a perfect place obviously to walk around, etc. I'm a Flagler College alumni and know the area very well. Stayed here while in town for our wedding and loved every second of it! You are right off the water and walking distance from everything in town. Staff was friendly, service was great and everything was clean and in good working order! There is an additional fee to park there, but that can be easily avoided by paying for cheaper parking a short distance away at another lot. For a brand new, luxury hotel there is a lot lacking. We stayed for a week. There are no dressers to put your clothes in. The room holds 6 people which we had. Could only get them to deliver 4 towels, they said they ran out and would bring them later. Never did. You are forced to use their valet parking just adding to the cost. No self parking available. Two of the three elevators were broken the entire time we were there. One day all the elevators were broken. The trash cans in the room are so small they only hold a few tissues. There was trash in the hallways all the time. Cleaning takes the entire day. We were on the 3rd floor and our room was usually cleaned at about 4:00. Very friendly house-keeping and valets. Breakfast was great! Omelettes made to order and just about everything else you could want for breakfast. read more

We really enjoyed our stay in this Hilton! The lobby is beautiful and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. It's a great location within walking distance of most of the historic attractions. Due to it's location, some windows look out on to alleyways, but the rooms and common areas seemed clean and well maintained. Super Hotel! Stayed 3 Nights. Most of the staff was excellent!! Valet Service was friendly, welcoming and knowledgable. Rooms were clean and spacious. I did not try any food while I was staying at the hotel and do regret it because I heard some amazing things. The only noticable issue I found there to be was the pool. During the first two days I noticed a green mold/bacteria in the hot tub. I mentioned something and it was gone the next morning however there was alot of sand on the bottom. The pool was dated. Room ammenities were vast and lovely. Free Wifi that did not work so well. For such a small hotel having 72 Guest rooms it should be simple to accomodate all rooms. More devices needed for signal strength. Would stay again. read more

Stayed at this hotel from 10/21 to 10/23/2018. At 5:30 AM on our first night we were wakened by a construction crew digging up the street about 30 feet from our window (I've got pictures if anyone is interested). OK, I get that the hotel isn't responsible for construction permits issued by the city (though I don't know why any city would knowingly issue a construction permit to start work at 5:30 AM next to a hotel ... total idiots in my opinion). But, the hotel didn't handle it well. The worst offense was this ... we insisted on changing rooms so that we didn't have to put up with the nonsensical construction right in front of our room. The hotel switched us to a much less desirable room (which normally has a lower room rate). OK so far. When we checked out, they tried to charge us for the higher room rate for the original room for all of our nights!!!! I had to fight with them to give us the lower room rate for the much less desirable room. Hilton's motto is now something about "Make It Right" but they made almost no effort to actually make it right ... and instead tried to rip us off by charging us for a more desirable room when we had to move to a less desirable one. read more

Worst experience that I've ever had with Hilton properties. It's not the hotel itself but the lack of customer service, follow up, and improper billing from the staff that I dealt with. I was in town on business and had business related products shipped to the hotel. I visited the front desk daily during my stay asking if my package had arrived. I was told "no" on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Only to find out that it arrived on Friday and was at the desk. At one point, I even pointed to the box and stated that it would be that size and was told that it wasn't mine. On Saturday, I even wrote down the last names that the package would've been shipped to just in case he wasn't understanding me. "No sir, nothing yet, but we'll call if we do". I didn't receive my package until after my event had ended. I wasted overnight shipping and my time over 3 days. It only got worse at checkout. While checking out the following morning, I was asked if I had a car that needed to be brought up. I responded "no". When the clerk printed my bill, they charged me $25/day for 3 days of parking. When I brought this to his attention, he was unable to credit it and would have to leave it for the next shift. Then blamed them that they didn't flag the account properly when I checked in so it automatically charged me for parking. What kind of scam is this? Not a great experience. I explained that I wanted a call from the manager and was told that she would arrive at 9. I explained that I was flying most of the day but would be available between 10:30 and 11:00 AM. No one called until 11:49 AM while I was in the air. Then to make matters worse, her message stated that she was to call me like she had no idea why she was supposed to call. What a complete lack of customer service. Of course when I call back at 5:45 PM she's no longer there. Poor customer service Hilton. Certainly far from the standard of device that I receive at your other properties. read more

August 2011, my wife and I booked a conference room here for a business meeting. They were not the first hotel we called, but wish it was. So many meeting spaces/hotels in St. Augustine seem like they don't want your business. They barely give you the time of day... Now, you know whats coming :-) The Hilton was great from the get-go. We were a little concerned that it would be pricey given the prime location. Nope, very reasonable. The sales staff was great with returning phone calls and with help to iron out the minor details. This place is overpriced. Okay if you're a tourist with money to burn, but for the price go to The Best Western just up the street. The room was spacious, but it was noisy outside. The service was MEH. Our 2nd night ended up being quite a bit more expensive then our first night. Our room wasn't made up until we asked for it to be done late on the 2nd day. There was no effort on the part of the management to do anything about this. The restaurant is very expensive and you have no choice but to valet park your car ($21 a night). Our TV wasn't working well but we fixed it ourselves. For the money this place wasn't worth it. We will save our pennies and go elsewhere. We felt nicked and dimed at every turn. I expected so much more for the money. I will say that the hotel staff (the housekeepers, etc. i.e those that aren't making any money) went above and beyond our expectations. I recently booked here because I was going to historic St. Augustine for a wedding @ the Casa Monica. I booked through hotels.com and got a rate of $199/night. We were greeted by the friendly hotel staff and our cars were quickly parked by the valet service and asked if we needed any help with our bags. This hotel is a short walk to everything that downtown has to offer, so you will pay for the convenience of that, you will also have to pay to park in the already pricey hotel. The fee for a car is $25.00. The hotel has their own parking garage located just under the establishment. Now, if you have every been downtown for any event or on a holiday week, you would not have an issue paying this fee. It's worth every penny of the $25 price tag to know that you do not have to go to the meter every 4 hours or risk getting a ticket, if you do not make it in time. My reservation was for two queen beds with a balcony. Now, if I knew that my balcony would be facing the parking lot of a bed breakfast where I could see supplies being kept and cars, I probably would have upgraded to a bay front view. Again, for $200 / night that is not what I want to look at when I am sitting on my balcony. Lesson learned. The beds in the room were very comfortable with lots of fluffy pillows. The room was a little small even for the Hilton standards, but still very nice. I did not like that the curtains would not close all the way. The room had dark curtains on the outer edges, but a sheer curtain in the middle and you could not completely close it, so you had the sun blaring right in your face come morning! Ugggh! I was also disappointed with the shower. After an evening of wedding fun and partying, you want to get up and take a nice warm shower with some good water pressure. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. It felt like it took an hour just to get the shampoo out of my hair because of the low pressure and the water never got any hotter than lukewarm. Next up, room service. The food is provided by the in house restaurant, Aviles. The prices goes as high as $13.00 for the breakfast items. We ordered biscuits and gravy which came with eggs, two eggs with breakfast potatoes and a biscuit, pancakes with sausage and coffee for three people. Now, I may have been slightly hung over and didn't fully process it at the time, but we paid $64.16 for room service! So, when I got home I contacted the Aviles and s/w a representative who stated that they tack on a (20%) gratuity fee onto the bill! Seriously? I could have just got up and went downtown to The Bunnery or the Maple Street Biscuit Company for a quarter of the price. I will tell you that the food was delicious and the portions were huge, but still not worth $64!!! Not to mention, my friend gave the gentlemen who brought it a tip. He certainly left that room grinning like the Cheshire cat! If you want the breakfast, get your clothes on an go down to the restaurant or go downtown. I would not suggest ordering room service. There is a Starbucks located in the hotel just behind the check-in counter and the hotel is very clean and if you take the back door located just to the left of Starbucks, you have a short-cut into beautiful downtown St. Augustine. I had a great time and the staff was very professional, but I could not give it 4 or 5 stars due to the reasons listed above. If I am not going to get the views and I have to pay an arm and a leg for room service, I probably would stayed at a cheaper hotel or at one of the many bed and breakfast establishments. read more

I am oly reviewing the restaurant in this hotel: Aviles. This is my 3rd visit. The first two where great meals. This time when we made reservations we were told that is was "some great steak and seafood." AWESOME!! But when we got there we found that what they meant to say was that NOW on Saturday Nights, they only do steak and seafood and the regular menu was not available. We went with it .. we ordered the seared tuna for an appetizer ($13), split the Prince Cut Filet ($30) and it can with one side which we chose the lobster mac and cheese. But added haricot verts, for $5 extra. You were allow to have as many accompaniments with the steak as you wanted: Garlic butter, onions mushrooms, Bordelaise Sauce and others. 1. App was great! 2. Steak cam out as ordered, rare, and my wife wanted onions and mushrooms that also can out but were COLD (odd since the menu says everything made to order , the I was told my Bordelaise Sauce was not ready but would be in a few minutes and the waitress did not want our food to get overcooked sitting under the heat lamp, so she brought out what was ready. 3. Large pieces of lobster in the mac and cheese w/ lobster, but no cheese and rather bland at best. 4. the side of green beans, amounted to 7-10 haricot verts! 5. All the items were placed on one plate -- my side should have come on the SIDE. 6.Still waiting for my rich Bordelaise Sauce ... what i got was a broth with chopped onions and shallots and NO flavor ... Bordelaise Sauce should be smooth rich texture that coats the steak .. what a disappointment! Plus I had nearly finished my steak! The Hotel is 4 diamond from AAA ... I asked them "how long have you been changing your menu on Saturdays - I was advised only 4 weeks. Several customers came in and left when they were told that the Saturday menu was steak and seafood. I feel more like a 3.5 star for this visit as the other 2 would have been 5's. read more

The Starbucks in the lobby is 50% more expensive than any Starbucks I have visited. The mandatory valet parking adds insult to injury. The only deal is happy hour in the bar, which I did enjoy. My girlfriend and I escaped to the Hilton Historic Bayfront for a romantic overnight getaway, and we weren't disappointed with our stay. If you've been in old-town St. Augustine you've surely seen the hotel, located right across the street from the Fort and the Bridge of Lions. The price was a tad high, but we got the last room available at a reduced price, so we can't complain. The hotel was decorated for Christmas very nicely and added to our visit. Check in was easy, but one of our biggest gripes comes from the fact that they force you to pay a $21.00 valet parking fee. I personally feel like if I'm shelling out $140.00 a night for a room, you ought to be providing the parking for free - especially since they use their own private parking garage anyway. I didn't see a pool anywhere, but I did see signs saying there was one. The valet service was quick and there was no damage to our vehicle. The hotel includes a restaurant, but after reading several negative reviews on Yelp and other sites, we opted to visit A1A Ale Works instead. It's just a short walk across the courtyard. Our room was located at the very back of the main building, which felt private, and was definitely quiet. We had a King size bed and hot tub in our room. The hot tub is more like a two person Jacuzzi and it took FOREVER to fill up. Well not forever, but at least 30 minutes we had to wait. There was very little water pressure out of the faucet, but no big deal. The shower had good pressure. The room was very nice, with nice furniture and a big comfy bed. Everything was very clean and new looking. There was a hidden mini-fridge and a coffee maker with two mugs and two travel cups. We thought that was neat. The room had a nice plasma TV, but it's wasted on crappy standard def channels. My biggest gripe overall with the room is that the air conditioner is VERY LOUD. Every time that sucker kicked on during the night it woke us both up. Unfortunately it's still 80 degrees here in FL even with Christmas two days away, so it was kicking on and off a lot. Overall we enjoyed our visit and when we were asleep we were comfortable and cozy. I'd recommend the hotel for a nice overnight, but I'm not sure it's great for extended stays (especially with that daily parking fee). P.S. Beware, they will charge your credit card $20.00 to cover any incidentals you might rack up. We assume this is to cover PPV movies (which run at $16.99 a pop!) but still it's inconvenient to have $20.00 locked up for "3-5 days." read more

Personally I absolutely adore boutique hotels they're smaller and more intimate... we had lunch at the hotel, Aviles, it was awesome ... we had the beet and goat Cheese salad it was delicious and the steak sandwich... one of the best sandwiches I ever had ...and happy hour was from 4 til 7 but one get one , a Super deal ....the staff was amazing..Super accommodating really nice and they gave us great recommendations on restaurants... I read some other reviews that wrote about their valet service... 100% absolutely on the mark those guys were amazing... They got your car quickly ... , Always had time for a conversation or time to give you directions... be sure to take "care" of them... they are worth it !!!!!
