We love the hotel decor - reflecting the history of St. Augustine. Service was good - the highlight was the valet team who seemed to work 24/7. Extremely overpriced and disappointing For the price, the quality and service simply did not meet expectations. We paid **over $600 for one night**, and unfortunately, we left feeling extremely disappointed. We specifically chose a room with a balcony, expecting that the view would be part of the experience. Instead, the view was largely obstructed by a palm tree, and the homes directly across the street were not particularly well maintained, which made the balcony feel like a wasted upgrade. At this price point, we expected a much better experience overall. If you're willing to pay top dollar, you may want to consider whether the experience actually justifies the cost. For us, it absolutely did not. We'd give our stay a **C-**. In this economy, spending $600+ for one night should feel worth it, and unfortunately, this hotel did not deliver. An absolutely gorgeous and quaint hotel! It feels intimate compared to larger properties, which we really loved, yet it also feels recently refurbished--clean, modern, and thoughtfully updated while still maintaining a historic charm. Honestly, it could have been built in 1818 or 2018, and I'd believe either in the best possible way. The location was perfect: about a five-minute walk to the edge of St. George Street, eight minutes to the fort, and roughly fifteen minutes to the Fountain of Youth. We parked our car upon arrival and walked everywhere all weekend, which made the stay even more enjoyable. We also dined at Castillo and had a lovely evening there. As Marriott Gold members who have stayed at many Marriott properties over the years, this was easily one of our favorites. Whenever we return to St. Augustine, we will absolutely be staying here again. read more

We recently stayed at this amazing hotel in St. Augustine. It's near to the visitor information center and right across the street from Ripleys Believe It or Not. The location of the Renaissance was convenient for us as we were visiting the historic district with the shops, restaurants and churches on St. George St., King Street, Charlotte St., and Spanish St. Additionally, we made a visit to Castillo de San Marcos which was just a few minute's walk. Also, right across the street next to Ripley's is the old town trolley tours which we did not take advantage of; but, which we saw (trolley buses) everywhere as this was their main hub. The Renaissance was absolutely stunning, modern, and super clean. Since St. Augustine is primarily a pedestrian town, we just parked our car for three nights and only went back to it as we departed. All of our destinations were easily walkable. From check-in to checkout and all associate interactions in between, we found the team, smiling, waving, and interacting with us offering to assist in any way. They were professional, friendly, and engaging (even the housekeepers that we came across). The room was very modern, well-appointed and larger than we expected. The guest common areas, such as the pool, the lobby, the guest halls, the restaurant, etc. were all kept in impeccably clean and stage ready condition. On our checkout day, Azell at the Front Desk gave us a fond farewell and James in valet service also thanked us for staying and wished us a fun journey. Cute, old charm character from the exterior, but modern and elegant inside. Our king room on the third floor was huge! There was only a small window, with minimal natural light, but this room was much larger than the rooms with balconies on the second floor (my dad had one of these rooms to compare). Room was clean and felt new. They provide Kevin Murphy toiletries. Check in was easy and we were able to get into our room very early (11am). We were told a pack and play was already set up in our room (it was not), but when I spoke to the front desk about it, it was delivered promptly. Front desk staff were friendly. The downside is $40 valet parking per night, but it seems like everywhere in the area charges an arm and a leg for parking. Breakfast isn't included, but I booked a rate that included a $50 breakfast credit to the on site restaurant, which just about covered our family of three. They also have a Starbucks with grab and go items in the lobby. This hotel is in a great location, just a short walk from the main gates of the historic district, the fort, restaurants, directly across from Ripley's believe it or not and old town trolley tours. I would recommend this hotel to people visiting st Augustine. read more

The Renaissance Hotel is perfect in so many right ways. I was at the Renaissance for an author conference and had the opportunity to experience the numerous services that they provide. Let's start with the overall location great location! You're across from Ripley's believe it or not museum, the start of the historic district, a five minute walk to the Castillo Fort, and two stones throw from the waterfront, great location. Cleanliness and appearance- for three days, I experienced nothing but gorgeous, elegant, and clean hotel. Their lobby is modern colonial and beautiful, white marble, and a gorgeous mansion,-like ascending staircase. Conference center and meeting rooms fabulous conference rooms overlooking the main walkway. Large enough for maybe 70 people around eight top tables. Or 100 people were just chairs. And you can always stay within the hotel air conditioning system by using the longer hallways, or you could walk out side And through the valet parking area and into the lobby that way. Really a fabulous design and connects to their restaurant and bar . The restaurant and bar are fabulous. The staff super friendly. The drinks, well poured and in the hot July days of being dehydrated and not drinking enough water, give you the happy buzzed feeling quickly. The appetizers are super good; we enjoyed crabcakes, which were as great as any waterfront restaurant, hot wings, which are a fabulous dry rub and as good as any sports bar hot wings, their brussels sprouts were superb, their morning continental breakfast of yogurt, berries, and granola is generous, their turkey sausage is really good, the coffee is well brewed and taste great, and the only funky thing which I don't think they have anything to do with this. I don't know why the water in Saint Augustine taste funky. (I'm from Los Angeles, where they would probably say the same thing about our water. And I guess every area is gonna have different water treatment. But it seems to be all the water in Saint Augustine has this funky sort of smoky taste to it. Again, this has nothing to do with the restaurant Just one of the things I noticed. What the hotel did do is provide a very nice large iced cooler of water with limes and lemons in the lobby area, which was a nice service where guests could pour themselves chilled water with a crisp refreshing lemon flavor.) Staff - from the morning team at the front desk, to the evening team at the front desk, and from the valet young studs to a super sweet evening group, the staff was superb. The banquet team provided a fabulous lunch of chicken salad on croissants, roast, beef, hoagies, vegetarian wraps, awesome chocolate, chip cookies, and fudge brownies that had enough chocolate to make you break out in a chocolate sweat. And they served it buffet style, and were hardly even noticeable with how well they entered and exited the room while we were listening to the event leader. I hope I didn't leave anybody out. It's a great hotel. And the rooms, are fabulous. Great water pressure. Wonderfully comfortable beds. Great room service staff keeping the rooms clean. Comfy pillows. Soft sheets. All the things you would expect from me nice historic hotel. I look forward to coming back with my wife for a personal vacation and not just here on business. read more

Stayed a couple of nights 11/5-11/06. The clean and beautiful lobby with impressive staircase was a real WOW factor walking in. Reception was very friendly and courteous... had us heading to our room in less than 2 minutes. The room was very nice, clean (no rugs) with a small balcony overlooking the street. The bed was very comfortable... a bit softer than what we have at home, but a king as opposed to our queen. Excellent pillows too! One little "hiccup" might be the light switches. Turned them on just inside the door, then had to shut them off at the light switch itself. I'm pretty logical and handy and still couldn't figure it out. The restaurant (Castillo's) downstairs... very good also. Great location if you're visiting St. Augustine. Looking forward to coming back. read more

The Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown was a contradiction from the start. It's a new hotel built to fit into the surrounding neighborhood. On the outside it actually comes off as tacky, but once you enter the lobby it was another world. It was elegant and graceful and felt more like Miami than St. Augustine. Direction wise it wasn't very well laid out as to where one should park so we waited in the drive way between the lobby and the restaurant while the valet was on the street side. Luckily he saw us and immediately took care of our car. Unfortunately, valet is the only option for this location, but since it was centrally located you can walk to pretty much anywhere in the historic downtown district. Then we move to the room. We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor. It was near the elevator, but not too bad. However, once we entered the room it felt disproportional and really odd. It was modern, yet with a Victorian era layout with a small window portico so it had very little light. It was a large room, yet it felt like it was missing the couch in the seating area so it just felt like a large room with a small bed. For proportion, the bed was a king size bed, but in the room it looked like a full. That's how oddly laid out the room was. Overall, it was a good night sleep and that's often the bottom line with hotel rooms. We felt safe, it was walking distance to everything and slept well. Could it have been better? Of course, but in that area there are more Airbnbs than hotels and the competition on the hotel level isn't really worth the ultimate investment so we get the Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown, which was a good hotel in a great location. read more

We stayed here once for the nights of lights and had a lovely time so when we were picking a hotel for our wedding we wanted to stay here. We called several times leading up to the wedding and they let us know we would be staying in the corner room since it was our wedding. Wellllll when we first went to check in they told us it was ready, we asked in passing about it being the corner and it sure wasn't. So we delayed check in for this corner room we were told we were getting. We came back and checked in officially and turns out we didn't even get the corner room so that was confusing but ok whatever. The rooms are nice and the patios are awesome but it was disappointing to not have the room we were promised. And it's semantics at this point but a little acknowledgment of the wedding in our room with a simple card would have gone a long way. But alas we were just another room to them. We will say that the valet guys were all so friendly and kind. If this review was for them alone it would be 5 stars. We will be looking for another go to Saint Augustine Hotel. read more

Great stay and awesome location! Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel is a 89-room resort, which opened in September in St. Augustine's historic downtown area. On the outside it looks very much like a historic building; however on the within, it's completely fashionable. The guestrooms feature Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minifridges, and tea and coffeemakers. Upgraded rooms add balconies or terraces and suites have separate living rooms with fireplaces. Castillo Craft Bar + Kitchen, is the resort's full-service restaurant and bar that offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and room service. The bar offers a large selection of wine and craft beer, and there is no shortage of cocktail options! There is a Starbucks at the lobby, so you can get your caffeine kick almost as soon as you walk out of your room! We stayed there for three nights and it was a very pleasant experience. The only bummer was that due to COVID restrictions, they did not do room cleaning unless you stayed longer than three or four nights; however, every time we needed fresh towels they were delivered to our room promptly. We loved the location, because we were within the walking distance of many wonderful sights and close to many restaurants and cafés. read more

Beautiful and new hotel! Gorgeous decor and lobby. Loved the touches and finishes. We stayed in a room on the second floor. It was located near the gym, which was nice. Had an elevator and stairs that are close to the lobby and easy to find. They offer delicious orange water and lemon water. Very refreshing! Very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. They offer valet parking but had 4 spots that are free outside of the hotel. Some issues in the actually room were lack of lighting and the water pressure and water temperature in the shower. I feel the room was very dark and lighting options were limited. The one light above the couch you have to kneel on the couch to turn on. The pool was not open yet or filled, that was disappointing. The hotel was within walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops, and attractions. We were able to walk everywhere! read more

The staff is very nice. Our rooms were supposed to be ready at 4pm and they weren't so we went and got dinner down the street. Came back and they still were not ready so we had a couple drinks at the bar. The drinks were good. The breakfast was very good too. My expectation for the quality of the room was disappointing. The bed was too firm, only two bath towels for two people, no shower gel, the faucet was loose, the night lock's screw would come out with your finger, the furnace didn't work so no heat, and the floor by the toilet smelled like urine. I left a list at the front desk for maintenance. This list of concerns is quite extensive for the price of the room. read more

Loving this place so far! It is so convenient to everything in the area we want to do. We checked in today to room 319. We love the newly renovated lobby. It is beautiful. Check in was easy and very friendly with the attendant. Parking is valet only and $35/day. We made our way up to our room and it is just as lovely. We have a king room. Hotel has parking for 40 dollars a night, but across the street is a giant parking garage that is just a one time 20 dollar fee, I recommend just using that. Wow, what an amazing place to stay! The staff went over and beyond to welcome us. Bottled water is a must in Florida and it was provided free of charge in the room and at the front desk... no greedy in-room bar fridge here. In my experience, the coffee hotels provided in the room aren't "all that". This coffee, Urbanista Custom Roast, was a good cup that didn't make me miss my home brew. There are a few rooms that have a covered balcony. How nice it is to have a cup of coffee early in the morning sitting out there... before the August heat seizes the day. Speaking of heat, our air conditioning went out on day three. My first thought was a few select 4-letter words that slipped out under my breath (but said to no one. My mother taught be better than that!). It turned out to be a minor problem. I called the front desk and was offered fans OR a portable air conditioner. I opted for the air conditioner because I enjoy sleeping at a super cool temp. We had the air conditioner up and running within 15 minutes of reporting the problem. For good measure they also brought an oscillating standing fan. Again, the hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay a superb one. If I'm ever in St. Augustine again this is where I'm staying. I'll go a bit further to say that my stay here makes me want to visit St. Augustine again. The location is great too. All the quaint little shops on and around St. George Street are only short walk away. I highly recommend the Renaissance St. Augustine in historic downtown. read more

My family and I just started here after seeing the nights of lights. The rooms were nice, and clean. We also hand a prick that led to the street from our room which gave it all a bed and breakfast feeling. The braggart was made to order by the chef and he personally came out to greet us. And to our surprise while enjoying a terrific breakfast Carolers started signing Christmas songs beautifully. What a great way to start our day. read more

While the hotel is very nice, clean and close to local attractions, the restaurant left a lot to be desired. The music was so loud we couldn't hear the waiter or talk to each other. Ordered only to be told they didn't have what I ordered. Ordered another item, club sandwich, the bread was rock hard my fries came separately not with my order. My husband ordered vegetables with his meal. When we got our check the waiter said they took the charge off because he never got them. Stay at the hotel avoid the restaurant. read more

Beautiful hotel. Wonderful location. Gorgeous lobby, restaurant and rooms. Why only three stars ? It is 10pm on a Tuesday night and very young children are banging on the walls, slamming doors and running up and down the halls. I understand that the staff cannot control the actions of all of their guests. But I would recommend and suggest that in a hotel that is " quite large, at less than full capacity & occupancy, off season and during the week" .... Maybe place the guests that are business travelers on one side of the hotel ... and parents who think it is ok for there preschoolers and toddlers to free range roam hotel hallways at 10pm, on the other side of the hotel. I am a business traveler, not a guest at Disney World. Decide how to handle a diverse clientele that includes professional guests and parents that are irresponsible travelers. read more

The hotel is nice and clean. However, the floors are dangerous. We reserved our room on a day that it rained, I slipped multiple times on their marble floors. I had a good rubber sole on my Nike tennis shoe too. The rooms bathroom had the same slippery problem. But honestly I only gave this hotel 2 stars because of how we were treated as customers. The front desk supervisor Myke was very rude and arrogant. I was surprised at his attitude as we were reviewing the charges that were made and he mentioned that valet was 40 dollars a day. We were taken by surprise by that cost as we booked it thru booking.com and did not see the parking amount. Well then he says to us well that is why you shouldn't book thru them and only through the Marriott website and then went on to say that he will not remove the charge. First of all we didn't ask him to remove it and second his attitude was so condescending. He is supposedly a supervisor and supposed to provide exemplary customer service. He is the face of this hotel and was very unkind and rude. Needless to say, I do not recommend this hotel for that reason. I will be writing a follow up letter to customer service management about our experience. read more

Nice new property, however the staff are subpar. We arrived around 2:45 pm to be told the rooms we ordered were not ready. Same rate, but a lower level room !! We stayed in the Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown hotel for 4 days in May 2023. The hotel is beautiful; the rooms are very comfortable. We were lucky to get a room with a balcony overlooking the historic downtown area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great because once you get there, you never have to drive anywhere. You can walk to all of the historic sites and area restaurants. We definitely will be going back next year. read more

If zero stars were an option I would have immediately selected that. After driving 7 hours and checking in through the app in hopes of saving time, we received no mobile key as promised. Upon our arrival at 11:30pm, we were assigned room 301. Unbeknownst to us, this room was a handicap room with a bathroom similar to those in ADA cruise ship rooms where the shower drains in the middle of the space. Immediately after turning on the shower the bathroom flooded and I slipped. Being that I see a neurologist for recurring migraines this was EXTREMELY concerning to my husband and I, but not to Emily the manager, and apparently ONLY, person on duty. My husband went downstairs and tried to have us changed to a different room for fear of me slipping at night given that the bathroom would not drain and remained like a childrens swimming pool long after the water was turned off. He was sent to room 201 and quickly upon entering realized that too was an ADA room with the SAME bathroom situation. He returned to the lobby where he was told the ONLY solution, mind you for two nights we were paying over $1000 with parking, was to move into one room for tonight and be moved into another room tomorrow night. The lack of concern about safety and the horrible customer service made it clear this was NOT the hotel for us. We checked out and ended up having to book a Hilton nearby and check in after midnight. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy and I look forward to what I hope will be a candid conversation with the regional manager and Marriot Bonvoy on Monday which is when I was told I should be hearing something. read more

They never provided housekeeping for our room for three days, never picked up towels that were left, we asked three times for our room to be serviced and it was not. The overall experience sucked. We basically had enough the last day and took all the dirty towels and left them at the front desk with here is your junk now give me a set of new towels. The guy at the front desk was clueless and acted like bull from night court. I would avoid this place at all cost. Hotel Marco is a much better bit. read more

My confirmed suite upgrade that I received prior to my arrival was not available as the hotel overbooked and the girl that checked me in, really didn't care if I cancelled for the night. We didn't but did cancel our next night as the room we stayed in was nothing special. I also used many points as a reward night and when I left I was charged in full for the room$380.00. Parking is $37 night with tax and not really a fan of extra or resort fees. It took my many calls and emails to get my $380 back and I felt like the time I spent on all the issues was somewhat consuming. Would not go back to this hotel and would not recommend as service, hotel itself and chaotic issues made the stay one to forget. read more

I called and asked to speak to the Hotel Manager. The receptionist connected me to the Assistant Manager's voice-mail. I called back and again asked to speak with the manager. I was told that the manager was not available. I tried to explain that the Assistant Manager was also not available so please connect me to the Hotel Manager's voice-mail. Of course, as I had expected, the Hotel Manager never returned my call. First impressions count. I travel for a living (major airline). I stay at many, many hotels. This one is a gem. Beautiful, new and the staff is great. They opened Sep 2021 so it's relatively a new place and so is the staff...so you have to understand the context of earlier low ratings/experiences from the other folks. I can tell ya they have it all ironed out and running smoothly. My daughter and I had a wonderful experience. The location is perfect (north end of Old St Augustine). Everything is walkable. Rooms, bathrooms are spacious; beds are very comfy; gorgeous common spaces like lobby and pool area; restaurant is an upscale atmosphere; and lobby coffee shop is just right. Bottomline: I'm coming back in Dec with my girlfriend who is a former boutique hotel manager - she will love it...and so will you. read more
