Which takes me to the city of Folsom where we both had the opportunity in checking out "Snowline Thrift Store". Located directly on East Bidwell St and adjacent to Glenn Dr, this very well-known thrift store has been serving the Folsom community and its surrounding areas dating back to 1979. Best of all, the money that is collected goes towards hospice care for a variety of hospitals and care facilities in the greater Sacramento area. My lady and I came here during the afternoon on Saturday 5/30/2026 at around 3:00pm. As for the exterior of building, this place offers ample parking for a couple dozen vehicles which is very convenient on the busier days. Upon entry, I was greeted by a huge jukebox (that sounded amazing) playing lots of great upbeat music; my kind of vibe when I am thrifting. The main register is near the front entrance while there are actual fitting rooms (unlike Goodwill) where you can try your clothes on before you buy. Finally, they do offer a single one-person restroom towards the mid-rear part of the building. Business hours are also quite reasonable as they are open Monday through Saturday from 9am-7pm and Sunday from 11am-7pm. The overall prices here are quite reasonable as they sell a nice assortment of men's, women's, and children's apparel all at decent prices. Here you will find quite a bit of tees, polos, blouses, pants, jeans, skirts, outerwear, ties, shoes, and much more. They also carry a nice variety of glasses, dishes, small kitchen appliances, home apparel, artificial plants, mirrors, artwork, and even larger items such as tables, recliners, curio cabinets, and bedroom/living room furniture. And for the bookworm/audiophile in all of us, this place sells quite a decent amount of books, movies (VHS/DVD), music (vinyl records/CD's). During our visit, my lady was able to make a few amazing purchases on some small accessories for her workstation as well as some nice little side pieces for the living room. Even when she took these items to the front register, they gave her a better deal which meant she left paying a lot less than she had anticipated. However, the store itself was a little bit cluttered but still easy enough to navigate around. With the above average customer service, decent selection, and very reasonable prices on much of their merchandise, I am giving the Folsom "Snowline Thrift Store" an above average four stars.

For the thrift shop itself, they have a wide assortment of items available for sale. Home items, clothing, music, etc. I feel that some things are priced well, while others are overpriced. For instance, they had a power wheelchair in the shop priced at $4,000. I work in the wheelchair industry, so I understand that this chair has value, however, this wheelchair also has a repair history as noted on the back of the chair. For a thrift shop that has a mission of supporting families through such difficult times, I would hope that they would make the pricing on durable medical equipment more accessible to those who truly need it. This is a custom power chair, meaning it won't be a perfect fit for whoever buys it. There would likely need to be modifications and potential repairs, which would be even more out of pocket cost for the family. Other than that, spend time looking around at what else is offered. I liked looking through the home decor.

I came here to volunteer, and to my surprise, there were even younger kids participating. I learned that the minimum volunteer age is 10 years old. Some students were volunteering for school service hours, while others came through different companies and organizations. We joined the second shift from 1pm-4pm. The session started shortly after 1pm with a briefing and task assignments from the group leader. All tasks were explained clearly. The leaders checked on us throughout the shift to make sure we were doing okay and to see if anyone had concerns. Halfway through the shift, we had a 15-minute break, and one of the leaders brought ice cream to celebrate a volunteer's birthday and shared it with everyone. I thought it was a meaningful way to celebrate a birthday while helping a good cause. We actually finished around 3:30pm, and our shift completed: - 5,451 lbs of food packed - 474 boxes prepared for the "No Student Goes Hungry" program supporting students from elementary school through college in Sacramento County. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating, and the facility was clean and organized. Restroom: clean, bright, and decent. Within all of this stuff, was a bunch of new and lightly used clothing. In the past I have donated clothing to my local Goodwill Express. However, I did some reflection and realized that all of the clothing that I donated was being sold for profit. Going forward, my intention was to donate to an organization that receives the donation(s) and distributes them to underprivileged individuals/families free of charge. Some research led me to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. Upon calling to verify their hours (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 10am-1pm and Wednesday, 4pm-7pm), I gathered all of the clothing and hit the road on a mission to make a difference. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a Sacramento Food Bank employee who eagerly began to load my clothing donations onto a cart. Since a lot of the clothing consisted of dress pants and dress slacks, he proceeded to inform me about a program called "Job Smart Clothing." Job Smart Clothing is a program within Sacramento Food Bank that provides career appropriate apparel for underprivileged individuals interviewing for employment or currently employed. How cool is that? I'm not a representative for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. However, I will say that they provide an awesome service to the community, and that a little donation goes a long way (individuals who benefit from their services often leave with 15-20 pieces of clothing per visit). Before you throw away that piece of clothing that you think is out of style or doesn't quite hug your curves the way that they used to, think about donating it to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services!

We went on a Saturday so we could get face painting, fun balloons, petting animals and Snowie King! However......we found out after waiting around that the face painting wasn't coming, the petting animals never showed and Snowie King wasn't open. Big bummer! My little was sad....but we did get a fun balloon! They do have a large variety of pumpkins. All sizes and colors go pick from! And lots of photo ops.

There was also a little play area in the back with a fenced off area and two alpacas hanging out! There are a ton of pumpkins to purchase and they're also displayed so nicely with lots of photo ops. In fact, there are staff people standing around ready to take group pics. My family and I loved this easy breezy pumpkin patch experience. We left with 4 little pumpkins for $5!

The store is kept tidy, and the items are organized and clean. No dirty, damaged items. I like to browse the housewares and home decor to look for up-cycling projects. When they do get in full pattern dish serving sets; they bundle them up and price by item type. So they bundle the dinner plates, bowls, etc, and price those bundles. The pricing seems fair based on brand and quality. Next housewares is the book aisle. The book selection is impressive but would help with better signage on genre. They have shopping carts but some aisles, particularly the clothes racks, are narrow and accommodate one cart at a time and some coordinated efforts from other customers to maneuver about. The women's clothes are in good condition. On my last recent shopping trip, I spotted several size 6 Banana Republic jeans priced at $12.99. Current styles, great condition. Thrift shopping takes patience and calm to find the bargains and your future treasures. The donation drop off is open during shop hours. It's located in the back of the store. After being warmly received by Rabbi Grossbaum, his lovely wife and their adorable children, it was hard not to come back. Unlike many chabad houses, the Rabbi runs a tight ship, services are timely. This is not one of those places that waits for the minyan they know isn't showing up. I've been to several chabad houses where they wait hours for the mythical minyan. Not only do services start and end in a timely fashion, they are filled with song, words of wisdom, and a very friendly atmosphere. No one is going to leave you hanging, someone will find you a seat, grab you a siddur, and if you're not fluent in the liturgy, chances are someone will show you the place. I'm especially fond of the community dinners that are held on one Friday of each month, I've "happened" to join in on a few of these and there's nothing like a good home cooked shabbat meal with freshly baked challah.

If you are unfamiliar with Chabad Inc, they are a worldwide movement of Chasidic Orthodox Jews who follow the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Back in the old country, Chasidic Jews were kind of rebels who championed the piety of the common man, thus these people will always have a soft spot in my egalitarian heart. I am not a traditionally Orthodox person and I do not agree with all of the Rebbe's ideas, but you know two Jews three opinions and all that. The center is run by a wonderful and hardworking husband and wife team. I really cannot fathom how they manage to pull this off, but I am extremely grateful that such a high quality Jewish resource exists in this area. They have programs for men, women, kids and teens. There are also services on Saturday mornings and holidays.
