We stayed at the Hinson House Bed & Breakfast due to its amazing reviews. Had planned on visiting the Caverns which were closed due to Covid19. This Bed $ Breakfast is decorated Victorian style and was emaculate. We stayed in the Homegard Suite with a king size bed and a separate little room which held a twin day bed. The bathroom was quaintly decorated with a pedestal sink and free standing tub surrounded by lovely flowery shower curtains. Karen came to check on us since we were a late check in. The bed was very comfortable and roomy. Breakfast was served the next morning at 830 a.m. sharp - tasty and filling with coffee available before that time. We were served cheese grits, bacon, scrambled eggs and fresh fruit with coffee. Absolutely divine.

It's like coming "home." They keep complimentary cookies, soda, & coffee in easy-to-reach, quaint spaces. The decor is folksy and feels like you're at a very clean Auntie's house. Beautiful wood floors. There's a lovely, bright dining room where they serve complimentary breakfast. The room was large, the bed was comfy, the bathroom roomy. The fixtures in the bathroom included a new-like-old pedestal sink, a vintage toilet, and a claw-foot bathtub, equipped with a shower. It's located close to the caverns, across the street from two restaurants, and a short walk to the historic downtown shops. The rate is comparable to the local hotel rates.

Had never been to a bed and breakfast before so I was not sure what to except. But I absolutely loved it there! I would go back in a heartbeat if I'm ever back in town. The room I stayed in which was the homeguard suite was wonderful, very spacious. The whole house had a wonderful vibe. The breakfast both of the days I stayed was delicious. Brenda was so pleasant and informative! I would definitely recommend this over any hotel!

Beautiful house, amazing hostess! Stayed in Sadie's room, which was cozy, clean, and gorgeous. Enjoyed midnight snacks and complimentary wine. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and catered to diet restrictions due to allergies. Even got a tour! We can't wait to go back!

The room(s) are spacious, clean and attractive. The beds extremely comfortable. David, and his thoughtful assistant, Ellen, want YOU, the guest, to feel 'at home.' They take great pride in The Sullivan House, and it shows in the details. My husband and I were treated to a tour of the House, and could study details and features of an almost-100-year-old residence. The Sullivan House has been perfected with modern necessities like central air, plumbing updates, refinished floors, etc., without destroying the wonderful feel of a residence its age. Evenings in 'the whiskey room,' extremely comfortable, well-suited for intimate conversation and visiting with others. Even an elk, mounted over the fireplace, added to its ambiance. And the food? Where, I might ask, would one be served a breakfast of Eggs Benedict, granola-topped yogurt; fried eggs over-easy with steak; poached eggs on toast with a wonderful gravy and ham; avocado and fresh tomato with pesto, and lamb seasoned with rosemary and perfectly-poached eggs. Orange juice, a 'clamato,' (virgin Bloody Mary), fresh fruit assortment of blood oranges, bananas and blueberries and raspberries -- and I am sure I am overlooking 'something' -- coffee, awaiting your arrival in the dining room. A special treat, having the Host join you at the breakfast table for stimulating conversation. Because of the unique circumstances of our 5-day stay (for a funeral) I was able to experience The Sullivan House as a venue, when the Host and his assistant, Ellen, treated us to a fine assortment of foods, and use of the home, for a reception following the church service. Leaving the details in their very capable hands, I was delighted with all that was done to make for a pleasant late-afternoon 'tea-of-sorts' for us. Again, the food? Beyond all expectations, with a variety of deluxe sandwiches, vegetables, fruits, and garnishes, and to 'sweeten' such a sad event -- beautifully arranged desserts including two cakes, an assortment of cookies, and chocolates. Our Host could not have been more accommodating, or kind, re-arranging furniture and setting-up, accepting deliveries of flowers, and waiting upon our arrival from the church, opening the doors of The Sullivan House for us, and graciously attending to our guests. But . . . what most impressed me, was our Host's request to 'let him take care' of us. And he did. Extremely well.

Let me start by saying I'm a perfectionist, so these issues may not be something that everyone even…read morecares about. Pros: The owner is excited about being an Inn keeper, and very friendly. She wants to try to accommodate any need you might have. The house has that old southern charm, and is filled with lots of antiques and interesting pieces. Even though she has 3 small children there, downstairs, they are fairly quiet, and the house is peaceful. The rooms are spacious and have couches or chairs in them, so that if you have visitors, you are comfortable sitting in the room to talk. There is also a little table and chairs located upstairs beside the balcony, for which to socialize or have a more private meal, as opposed to eating in the dinning room, or talking in the parlor where everyone can see and hear. She asked us what time we wanted breakfast, and we got to choose what we wanted her to make, even if it wasn't on the menu. It's obvious that someone has spent lots of money outside and in to make this place charming, and comfortable. It was like being at grandma's house, just more private. Cons: Limited parking, We were told there was wifi, but something happened to the router, and she said she would have it fixed, but we stayed 3 nights, and it was never fixed. Only one room has its own bathroom, so the other guest have to use a communal bathroom at the end of the hall. The place wasn't filthy, but it wasn't hotel standard clean either. There was random stuff under the bathroom cabinets and in the closets...like someone lived in there when there were no guest. There was toothpaste dots on our bathroom mirror from the last guest, and some of the furniture throughout had thick dust on it. The decor was some-what random, and the comforters and other fabrics clashed a bit with the wallpaper, but that didn't annoy too much. I pulled about 5 fleas off of the children, that's no infestation, but not cool non-the less. The owner lives in the house with her dogs, yet guest have to pay a hefty sum if they have their pet stay. Okay, the biggest no-no. The Dog was in the kitchen while she was making breakfast. And I know that because when she was bringing food out to us, he was barking and scratching at the door. She even picked him up once and threw him back in there. Dog hair flies and floats in the air, and I definitely don't want the person preparing to be touching the dog during the prep. process. Our friends were staying also, and she said she saw roaches. The grounds need work. It's cute with little benches and so forth, but they're so covered in algae and yuckiness from the trees above, that you can't actually sit on them. The bird feeders and house also need to be pressure washed, as algae is creeping up the walls and steps. Last but not least, our fruit that was served each morning was bad, fermented, slimy. Every morning. And that is usually the bulk of what we eat. Summary: All in all, it was comfortable, with several small careless mistakes on the owner's part, but she's new and learning. When you stay at a bed and breakfast and pay that price, you want it to be as close to perfect as possible, and it was more like staying with a friend. Definitely better than staying at a hotel in Bainbridge. We may stay there again, but I can't recommend it to friends until some of these issues are addressed.

RE: NOSTALGIC "HIDEAWAY" Bed & Breakfast, Panama City, run by Bill & Penny…read more !!!!! ZERO STARS !!!!! We have spent +thou$ands of dollars at Nostalgic Bed & Breakfast in the past two years, BUT NEVER AGAIN. Last month we invited family members to take a vacation with us and everyone arranged for vacation time from work. The last time we stayed there was the first week of June, 2020. Yes, the COVID scamdemic was "reported nationwide," but we're all healthy and there were no problems booking. Now, TWO WEEKS before our confirmed date, Penny sent a TEXT message to cancel our reservation saying that they had "avoided being sick, but have decided they are safer this way." I've sent her 3 texts in the last 12-hours, but have not received one reply! I certainly do not recommend making reservations here, without a good back up plan, since they obviously feel free to turn your plans upside down, two weeks before your confirmed arrival, on a whim. By the Grace of God, we may have found an even better, bigger, less expensive, and family friendly B&B in Panama City. I will be happy to recommend it to you, if you would like this option, I welcome your questions at jciz4all@gmail
