Ballwin Location (1)Leading with this: We saw a different Doctor for our kids-their whole life & he's amazing. Sadly, he's not able to work anymore. He's the absolute best man. He's a 10!!!NONE of this would happening if he was able to be there because he takes time and really cares. (2)Nurse T is awesome and ALWAYS takes time to have conversations & connections with our sons. She's SUPER!! (3)On our recent visit, Dr. P. Hinton was very confusing and condescending to my son, who is on the Autism Spectrum. Totally gaslighting him -- and me. I had to cut him off from speaking because he was making my son very uncomfortable. There are things we are working on with our son and making progress, but, not enough apparently for his standards. We were there for a routine well visit. (4)Pushing about getting bloodwork there in the office & about our homeschooling choices. (5)Their chairs in the waiting room are falling apart. Electricians tape is being used to hold the arms together. One chair has a BROKEN FALLING APART back rest. (6)Their answering service is at a call center out of the country. (7)I spoke with Serena(?) regarding scheduling his appointment and she became very rude when I asked a question about our normal Dr. She also was condescending saying "will you be preparing your son for his shots? Because we know how he is" then proceeded to laugh. He gets anxious but not out of hand. Ever. She's never met him. (8)We've only been there a few times at the new location in Ballwin where other doctors are. We are very disappointed & already set up with another Physician at a completely different practice. (9)We only kept the appt so his SLP therapy could get renewed. They renewed it and we won't be back. read more

Do not see Dr. Melvin!!!!!!! Absolutely disrespectful and very judgemental. It's almost a demand to follow her "opinion," and she gets nasty with you if you have a different viewpoint involving your children. I don't recommend her to anyone. My kids don't even like her and refuse to be seen by her anymore. She has little to no compassion for babies and my teenagers can't stand her. I will not see her myself. My kids love every other doctor there, and they are so kind and respectful and very diligent in their care for them. 0/10 for Melvin. I wish she could be removed as a dr at this office. read more

Absolutely terrible their call-center is people in a different country and they cannot speak English nor do they pass on the messages. I've been trying to get my sons medicine refilled for over a week and I can't get anyone to call me back. Absolutely the worst on-call service as well.they won't put a message into the doctor. The service level has dramatically decreased in the past year. Staff is not friendly nor patient oriented. The most disturbing thing is all calls are answered by an answering service in India and that call center has access to my entire medical history. read more

This practice does not accept vaccine injured children. I was informed that my children could not become patients at this practice because we have chosen not to take more risks with our children by injecting them with more of the poison that has harmed them. Very disappointing that they are pushing for more jabs after these medical products have harmed mine and so many children. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Steinkamp for only a brief time. I felt he didn't take my health concerns serious as he should have. After several appointments, I missed ONE appointment back in October due to a job loss which I also of course lost my insurance. I guess he's holding that against me. I recently phoned the office twice in desperate need of an ESA letter from him and spoke with Sarena. At first she was very kind but I assume once she spoke to Dr. Steinkamp, the second time I called she wasn't so kind. She knew then he wasn't willing to provide me with the letter. He chose to completely ignore my request. I'll be moving on to a better doctor once I regain insurance. I could've lost my support dog or jeopardized my housing due to his refusal to write a simple letter on something he's TREATED me for. Do better! read more

I have been a patient at this location for years. I have severe back pain from 3 operations as well as Lupus and Fibromyalgia. I have explained over and over that I don't want to go to a pain doctor, that all they want to do is inject me over and over with steroids. I've had at least 25 injections since 2009. This office will NOT help you with anything that has to do with pain. They also, take a week or more to fill your regular medicines. The only one in the office who knows what they are doing is Jamie, the nurse in the office. I would rather see her anyday than any doctor they have to offer there!!! read more

Run away as fast as you can. Hinton and his band of merry misfits are a joke to the medical profession. Won't refill prescriptions, have to call numerous times to try and get an answer. Went in for a sore throat, coughing, runny nose, headache., you know a cold. Dr. Wouldnt give me anything. Said take over the counter meds. Which I was taking for over a week. Had gotten worse so three days later finally got something. Ended up with a respiratory infection. Ridiculous practice, unfriendly staff, bottom of the barrel Doctors. This practice should be called the hinton death care exchange. Absolutely nothing good about this joke of a practice. Keep looking, my dog gets better treatment at the vet. Sad.... read more

I have seen 2 doctors here over the course of 4 years. It's miserable, no one answers the phone, when they do they YAWN IN YOUR EAR. I have to have medication filled monthly, not only that but the doctor has to fill out the script and send it in. So every month I have to go thru the NIGHTMARE of calling sometimes TWICE A DAY just to get my request in the queue. Then it takes at least 3 days for the doctor to FILL the requests. I can't do this anymore, the first doctor said he was retiring due to the BS that Dr. Hinton turned the practice into! Now that I have to see Dr. Hinton I totally get it. I will be requesting a referral to another practice from my insurance. I feel so sad for the families that have to bring their kids to this nightmare office. read more

The Byrnes Mill location is incompetent. I picked this Hinton Healthcare location based on proximity to my home. The only Doctor, Paul Hinton, is rarely there (one morning and one afternoon per week). They don't tell you that when you make an appointment, however. Instead you get a Nurse Practitioner who is not qualified to do her job. Over the past two years, she has misdiagnosed a condition of mine twice. The third and last incident was the deal breaker. I called to make an appointment to get a Shingles Shot and to get a prescription refilled. They said no problem and the appointment was scheduled. When I arrived, you have to pay the ($60) Co-Pay before you see anyone, which I did. I then saw the Nurse Practitioner who (clock timed) spends two minutes with me and then authorizes the prescription refill. She then goes out to get another person to give me the shingles shot. When this person comes in, I am told that Hinton HealthCare uses an outside service for the Shingles shot and the service is not In-Network. I told them this was the main reason I came in and then left. I called my insurance company who said that Shingles WAS covered by Hinton. The Insurance company then called Hinton to complain. After several days, Hinton said the Shingles Shot was supposed to be covered and they apologized for the "miscommunication". I asked for a refund of my co-pay and they have refused, saying that I received a service (getting the Nurse Practioner to sign a refill prescription form) and thus could not get a refund. It was obvious this office did not have a clue that the Shingles vaccine should have been covered. Since then, I went to Walgreens for the free Shingles vaccine. Forgot to mention, while inside the office, half the workers are not wearing masks for Covid Safety. I have since changed my Primary Care Physician. The Hinton team is incompetent. At a minimum, Do NOT go the the Byrnes Mill location. read more

Paul Hinton is the worst dr I have ever been to and his staff is made up of people who should not even be in the medical field They don't return phone calls that is if you can even get them to answer their phone he has 6 locations and has nurse practitioners doing all of his work. If you really call it work they also do their jobs in a very inadequate way. I have had to deal with most of the locations and can say they are all the same if you are looking for a real doctor don't waste your time read more

I went to see dr. Desilva as a new patient for a prescription renewal today. He refused to give me the prescription because of my age. I then asked for my inhaler prescription to be refilled and he refused to do that as well. He informed me that I would be better off with allergy medication than an inhaler that I had been using my whole life. He didn't let me finish my sentences, didn't read my patient information, didn't try to get to know me or anything. Complete waste of time. To go to someone for help with health problems and to be judged and treated disrespectfully because I am young is terrible. Hopefully my review will help others make a better choice in a PCP. read more

this is not good practice. I smoke and received steroids for my lungs and a inhaler. Did bloodwork but no x-ray ordered for a 30 yr. smoker when I called to get a order the next day, they said SHE would call me but surprise did not. Then when I called and asked on Monday the nurse said I had to make a appointment and pay my deductible again. I have read other post where people die from her not ordering them. If you need a real doctor stick to a good ol USA dr. that will help you live even if you dont want to pay two co pays for the right treatment the first time. Now I now why their office is always empty. read more

I I went as a new patient to see Ananda Desilva. He introduced himself asked three questions and was acting like he was in a hurry to go do something when I had an appointment with him. My whole interaction lasted less than 2 minutes. I asked him to refill an old prescription I had from an old Dr and he said he knew exactly what it was and refilled the wrong one. I felt in such a rush I forgot to ask my important questions. read more

Great office that took the time to address my medical issue that I was having at the time. I saw Lorie the nurse practioner and she spent the time to listen to my concerns and try to help me the best that she could. The staff was very polite and I did not have much of a wait time at all. This practice is a joke. If I could leave zero stars I would. I saw Dr. Hinton once. I am a new patient and had to switch doctors due to insurance. I have been type one diabetic since I was 10 years old. For 33 years. I called Friday telling the office I was almost out of insulin. They said ok sure, what pharmacy do you want us to call it to, and I told them. Checked a bit later, no insulin. Next day was Saturday. I had to call the exchange. The operator said Dr. Hinton will not call back of this is about a prescription. I said I'm type 1 diabetic, and my blood sugar is 400. This is life threatening. I can go into dka or a coma and die. She said, ok but he won't call back if you need insulin. I said I don't understand. She said ok I'll tell him your blood sugar is 400. He NEVER called back. I had to go buy out of pocket an insulin that doesn't work. I called Monday and they can't put a prescription in because it doesn't say I'm type 1 diabetic in my file. That's the FIRST thing I put in my file and tell doctor. First thing. He's prescribed me insulin and a glucose monitor already. I told the nurse I WILL DIE WITHOUT INSULIN. My husband went and picked up a sample so that won't happen. This practice is terrible. Good luck getting them to call in a prescription. You'll have to die or wait at least a week before you can get a human on the phone. Epic epic fail. You need a lesson on being human and treating your patients as such.
