This is several months late (sorry!)...Hiral did my henna last August. To say she is amazing is an understatement. Hiral did my Mehndi party and even did a separate day just for my hands and arms to help accommodate my crazy pre-wedding schedule. One of the things I love most about Hiral is that she is a true artist - I showed her a few photos, noting what I liked/didn't like, and she completely took it from there. I had looked at a few other henna artists in the Bay area, but they all seemed overpriced and of lesser quality (Hiral makes her own henna cones and gives great after care instructions). I'm so thankful Hiral was able to fit me in! In addition to being an mazing artist, I really loved Hiral as a person. To fit everything into our schedule, I ended up going to her house for my hands/arms. My mom (who was totally exhausted from all the wedding planning etc.) was going to nap in the car, but Hiral insisted that she come inside and nap on the couch. While my mom napped, Hiral talked me through what to expect in my upcoming wedding. As a Caucasian American having a Hindu ceremony (and all the events that come before it), I was completely overwhelmed at the time. Hiral was so sweet and kind - my mom and I still talk about how wonderful and calming she was - exactly what we needed in the midst of the pre-wedding chaos. Oh, and not to mention that she last-minute referred me to someone to get my dupatta draped and pinned (which it turned out I definitely needed - I had no idea that I would need it sewn into my hair!). I had the honor of attending a friend's mehndi and having henna applied by Hiral. Her craft is so beautiful and intricate. I was truly mesmerized with each one of her applications. While I had no particular requests for my henna, she did ask if I was right or left handed and took note that I'm a new mom and adorned me with her work. She was very friendly and a lot of fun to talk to. For the aftercare I really wish I read it thoroughly. I ended up scraping the henna off a little too early because I was worried it would stain clothing or flake off onto things and you can definitely tell which part I should have left on a little longer. I went to Hiral for my henna with my mom and close friend. I showed her the design I wanted on the back of my hands but left the palms up to her. Hiral was very friendly and inviting, we had the henna done at her home. Efficient: Hiral was able to do my henna as well as my mom's and friend's in about 2 hours. I am super late writing this review- I got henna done from Hiral back in August- but I will tell you that you will NOT regret choosing Hiral for your henna needs. It was honestly the perfect mehndi that I had always dreamt of for my wedding. I'm super glad that I gave Hiral the freedom to do as she wished. Hiral did henna for both of my arms and feet for my wedding last June and was absolutely amazing! Do not take my delay in writing this review as any reflection on her, but rather my extremely busy schedule as a medical student. Hiral had not only amazing designs, but she was able to incorporate both of my wrist tattoos in a way that did not appear awkward or ill placed. I worried about that but she made the designs work. She also took my requests for elephants and peacocks and seamlessly gave me two different palm designs. While it took longer than expected, she was completely willing to stay longer to ensure that my mehndi would look beautiful for my wedding day. She also makes her own henna using all natural ingredients, showing how much she pays attention to the details, so that she can help you have the best dark stain. She is very specific in her aftercare instructions, but she gives you a goody bag with everything you need including a special balm and wrap to use overnight. I was diligent and followed the instructions and was rewarded with a beautiful deep stain that lasted for a couple of weeks and got me compliments everywhere I went! My bridesmaids and family had their henna done by her assistant and were also very happy with their work. Overall, I was so thrilled by this service and you can tell Hiral is a true artist. I hired Hiral for my wedding in Mexico to do my bridal mehndi and guest menhdi at the sangeet event. She was easy to get in touch with, very responsive, and very clear in her communication on expectations and how we'd work together. She is very detail-oriented and organized, and I really appreciated this aspect of working with her! Needless to say, Hiral is a complete gem and everything you'd want in a henna artist during one of the most stressful times in your life: patient, warm, flexible, easygoing, calm and centered. Despite the new Mexico surroundings, last-minute changes in venue, and visitors/photographers coming in and out - Hiral did a great job rolling with the punches and not letting distractions get in the way of her designs. She was also just so sweet and friendly, and that's definitely a trait you want in an artist who you are spending 3+ hours with. One thing worth mentioning is that if you are picky or have a vision, definitely make sure to share that with her ahead of time! I could have been more specific with what I wanted from the beginning, so there were some things we had to change along the way. For example, I wanted some more negative space in my designs, but luckily Hiral was quickly flexible and able to accomodate as we went along. So in the end I got what I wanted, and I appreciated that she really cared about making sure I was happy. Hiral did my henna for my wedding and it was so beautiful. We hired her and her team for my Mehendi day and for 2 hours of our western reception. First of all, Hiral makes her own henna cones - they are organic, made in small batches, fresh, and she infuses it with tea tree oil. It was so relaxing having my henna done because I know the material is high quality and the tea tree oil was very soothing to smell! I have to admit, I did not do research when looking for what kind of design I wanted. I am Chinese, so the entire week of Indian wedding events was overwhelming enough. Hiral did my wedding henna and I was so so happy with the results!! Even before we met, Hiral was very patient with me and answered each of my 10,000 questions honestly and thoroughly. I had a fairly large medhi function and Hiral was also able to find 2 other great artists at the last minute to accommodate my ever growing guest list. The day of my mendhi, Hiral arrived on time and was kind enough to bring me some Starbucks :). The overall process was fairly lengthy, which Hiral had let me know way in advance, but I honestly had no problem with it because Hiral would constantly ask me if I needed to take a break, stretch, etc. I had a lot of people coming and saying hello to me during the mendhi and Hiral was kind enough to pause and let me greet people every time. I really can't say it enough, Hiral's work is absolutely amazing. She is very detailed in her designs and best of all, never pushes a design on you. I was even able to tweak a few details while we were in the process. It was easy to see that Hiral really cared about the quality of her work and that truly made me feel like my bridal henna was the most special in the world (cheesy but true). At the end she gives you detailed directions for aftercare and if you follow them you will be in awe of how dark and beautiful your henna will be. I can't tell you how amazing the mehndi quality is, my sisters mehndi had such a deep dark beautiful color and it stays for a really long time. I had originally Hiral for the bridal and guest mehndi for about 20-25 people but she recommended with that amount of people it would be a good idea to get a 2nd artist. She has lots of contacts with the henna community so she said she will bring the 2nd artist [Alapi] with her rather than I find another artist. OMG getting the 2nd artist was the best recommendation ever. It was the first wedding in our family so I didn't have any idea of the time lengths. It took Hiral about 6-7 hours to do my sisters mehndi and it took Alapi about 5 hours to do her guest mehndi. So it really paid off for me to take Hiral's advice because otherwise my guests would have had to wait until 11 at night to get their mehndi done.
