Our estimate from Salmon's Transfer ("best company in town?") was sky high in comparison to Jacob Montgomery's. Jacob is the last word in professional. He does not charge for his travel time, and in fact, is very generous. He is very careful, highly experienced and skilled. 100% dependable.

They told me that they would arrive at 2pm on Thursday, and contact me a few days beforehand to confirm the appointment. I never received a phone call from them. I called them several times but nobody answered, I left several messages, and no returned calls. I finally got a hold of someone after calling from a different phone number on Thursday morning. I believe they were avoiding call. I received the rudest, snarkiest, reassurance that they would arrive at 2pm that day. 2pm rolls around and no truck. I call them and received no answer or call back several times. I finally got through to someone by 3pm, no truck had arrived, the person behind the phone told me they would call their movers who are in the truck and call me straight back. I never received a phone call. I called many times more, only to have someone pick up, sigh, and then hang up. I really do not suggest using this company. I've had to call every other moving company in the area and luckily someone is able to move me on Saturday. Through my conversations with the other companies, I learnt that Monty J's is known for being incredibly unreliable.

They are not licensed movers and I welcome others to join me in a class action law suit. These are the worst movers I have ever experienced and I am still upset about the theft and damages, and the amount of money I paid, and there break time travelling between two jobs, plus driving away with my property in a private car. Leaving truck unattended and not working or assisting with additional packing, or providing boxes when requested prior to move time. I am looking for class action, small claims or probono lawyer. There is one good review written by Tom himself. They damaged other peoples property along with stealing many items, going between two moves in a monster dirty truck. I am going to seek legal advise and recommend others join. Is this work address shared accommodation, in an old apartment building on 15th Street. These guys, and when I say 'these guys' I mean Tom and his crew from the North Van office of The Piano Movers, did an amazing job. They showed up when they said they would, they brought everything they needed to protect the piano (first a layer of clear plastic cling wrap to protect the finish of the piano, next came the thick moving blankets and finally another covering of cling wrap to hold everything in place). Tom and two of his helpers quickly packed up the piano and had it out to their truck in less than 10 minutes. All the guys were friendly and helpful and exactly what you want when you want a piano mover. They moved with an almost military precision and when it comes to something as delicate as a piano, that's exactly what you need. Highly recommended.

She is a craftsperson not "just" a tech, skilled and knowledgeable in instrument building and repair, and intent on figuring out what you want, for the way you play your guitar. Super friendly, honest, and has always finished the job when she said she would. She quotes up front and has always hit the quotes she's given me. While her work doesn't come cheap, it shouldn't. I've used a few people around town, but Nicole is the only one I recommend with no hesitation.

Then the quality of the work started dropping dramatically, having to take them back repeatedly for poor work. Some examples. She did a complete re & re of a fretboard on one of my GJ guitars as the truss rod had an issue. The work was great although costly. A few months later frets 7 - 11 on the high E string only were bottoming out. Not just buzzing. After waiting many weeks I was told it was "ready". I arrived and was told that the "only way" to fix this problem was to put shims under the bridge upon which she just gave me several shims without doing the job herself. If she had done that herself she would have found that that would not have fixed the problem at all. The fretboard needs a complete refret and sanding/leveling costing me another $600 on top of the over $1,000 I paid her. The last straw was when she worked on my 1964 modded Telecaster including a rewiring of the pick ups. After picking up the guitar I found that all the pick ups were hot no matter which one was selected. Upon picking it up again post fix, I was told that the issue was "my fault", was verbally abused and it was clear Nicole was not going to take any responsibility for her poor work. I then bit my tongue, took my guitar and upon leaving heard her yelling as I was walking out the door "I have a long list of customers who know what they are doing". Nicole, it's not my job to know how to fix guitars. That's your job.
