For as many years as I can remember (and I grew up as a child in Eugene) Hiron's has been one of those "fun" stores with way too much stuff crammed into way too small a space --- loads of fun! Truly, it's like a treasure hunt. They aren't cheap on pricing, but they don't lack for inventory selection either. LOVE. THIS. PLACE. First off... They have SO MANY cool things. Every random thing you could think of. Masks, candles, elaborate holiday items. This is a locally owned pharmacy, great prices, always have my meds in stock. More than once i've tried going to other places... I wish a 3.5 rating was possible. 3 stars for prescription-filling. I fill at this Hiron's because it is extremely close to my apartment, but I miss the Franklin Blvd location and I might switch back. I have experienced only slow, long waits here at this Hiron's and the service is just not as reliable compared to the Franklin location. 4 stars for merchandise. Hiron's is overwhelming, but they have such great selection. I love going to Hiron's for cards, gag gifts, candy, and toiletries. They have a limited make-up selection, so make sure you don't expect much in that respect. But I have experienced great finds from Hiron's like Yankee Candles, a cookie monster mug, and a large shot glass/flask selection. read more

Ok, this is a store that you could literally spend hours in and forget why the hell you went in. There are about a million things crammed into a tiny space and each step you take brings another marvel. They carry everything from boxing nuns, to cool toiletries like Dirty Girl, to Jewelry and all those collectibles your grandma has. I have attended a function with the owner who is rather old and narrow minded in an openly accepting community. But, I am willing to overlook that to get my fix of shiny sparkly things once in a while. read more

Bring a friend when you go to this store or else you'll get sucked in and may never come out! There is SO MUCH STUFF in this store that I forget it's even a pharmacy. Everything from fairytale statues that your quirky Aunt loves, to those Mr. and Mrs. shot glasses, to over the counter medicine... this place literally has it all. I have to say a lot of the items are on the cheaper end but you can find some quality things here or something Eugene related if you're looking for a souvenir to take home. If you know what you're looking for just ask someone or you'll spend half an hour lost and forget what you actually came in for while you tell yourself, "I need this dinosaur in space coffee mug". read more

I visited Hirons for the first time last week, and I made two trips in one day to this amazing store. We stopped in for a quick business run, but I went back later to do Christmas shopping. I couldn't believe that this was so much more than a drugstore. It is a top-notch gift shop. I purchased a platter as a Christmas present and broke it before I got out the door. The owner Steve replaced it even though he had to eat the cost. It was such amazing customer service not to mention Christmas spirit. They have a wide assortment of Oregon ducks paraphernalia, from chip and dip trays to dorm accessories- buy your Rose Bowl decorations here! read more

My first (and it will be my only) visit to this store. Walked in not knowing store hours. Turns out it was 10 minutes to close because there was a lady stationed right inside the doors who would tell every person who walked in: "Do you need help finding anything, because we close in _ minutes." The attitude wasn't friendly, it was snotty in a means to rush people and make them feel bad for coming in so late. At 7:58 she announced that it was 8 PM the store was closed and no more purchases. Some of the things in the store really caught my interest but you won't catch me going back. Customer service is more important to me than the materials. Sure, nobody wants to work late on a Friday night but anyone who has ever worked in customer service knows that it happens and should value the business of their customers enough not to provide rude service. read more

They're famous for a cluttered store and extremely inflated prices, but I've always looked past that because I like shopping locally. But today, I called in my Rx, and they told me it would be an hour. I get there 90 minutes later and they'd forgotten about me. So I wait, and 20 minutes later, with no other customers in sight, they seem to have forgotten about me again. I'm currently still in the store, waiting. Sometimes, shopping local isn't worth it. HIrons Drug is the best pharmacy. When we moved here, I made the mistake of going to Safeway. Ugh. I gave Hirons a try and had all of my prescriptions taken care of in less than 30 minutes and no one gave me a bad time what so ever. They were courteous, kind and helpful. I enjoy meandering through the aisles of the store and usually end up spending more money than I had planned. I would much rather support the locally owned family business than Safeway. There is zero customer service at Safeway and they really could care less about having your medication ready on time or not. read more

David Bowie did not die! The Goblin King opened a pharmacy, post office, nic-nac labyrinth in Eugene, Oregon. It was overwhelming, and deliciously tacky, and I'm pretty sure that when I turned around a shelf disappeared behind me to show me the way out of its high hedges of hodge podge, which is fortunate because I was starting to panic that I'd never find the exit OR the castle to save my kidnapped infant brother. read more

The staff here is always so nice! And you never know what you are going to find here, there is just such a huge assortment of things. I typically pick up my things at the pharmacy and then kill a little time looking at souvenirs and various things that I don't necessarily need that are on clearance. Great place, and I like that it's family owned. read more

One of my favorite Eugene stores. Friendly service, amazing selection of everything. My only gripes are high prices and no more reprint rock posters or Accoutrements Inc./Archie McPhee posable action figures, but those are minor enough to not warrant less than 5 stars. Hirons is an overcrowded store with low quality products. I'm not sure if they buy leftovers that don't meet the standards of larger chains but it seems that all of the products I buy (same brand) are already old and no longer usable when I get them. They carry covergirl mascara that is always dry when I buy it. Its been a huge WASTE of money. read more

The store itself is great, but the pharmacy is terrible. The have messed up/forgotten my recurring medication at least five times, and always have a different excuse as to why. My doctor has had to send in a new prescription every 2 months for the exact same problem because they either lose it or don't update the information. On top of that, the customer service is lacking and everyone seems stoned 100% of the time. I'm suffering side effects from not taking my medication on time that will probably result in future surgery, and am considering legal action. PLEASE DON'T use them for a recurring prescription. read more

I have loved Hiron's since childhood but unfortunately just had such a horrible experience at your 18th location, that unless policy is changed, cannot in good conscience, go back. I was there with my 2 year old daughter today (4/21/14) to pick up a pack of "Thank You" cards when she alerted me that she had to pee. We headed towards the restroom and she started to cry "I have to pee! I have to pee!" At that point we were stopped by an employee who let me know that "actually, we don't have bathroom you can use." Confused (as I have used it many times in the past) I said "Yes, you do. It's right there!" Meanwhile my daughter is STILL crying.. He replies with a shrug "well, we HAVE a bathroom but it's no longer public. Sorry.... It's our new policy." Now obviously this kid is way to young to be the rule-maker (or have much experience with kids for that matter) so I went to the front to find a manager. My daughter at this point is in obvious distress and I am left waiting while everyone in the checkout is staring. He asked me what was going on... I said my daughter has to pee! She's 2 and can't hold it. He immediately led us to the restroom and on the way explained the policy change was due to an over-abundance of shoplifting but that employees could (and SHOULD) use discretion when it came to allowances. I left without purchasing the cards. I do not in any way feel comfortable supporting a business (ironically, family owned?) that does not support the basic needs of myself, or my family while we are shopping there. read more

Some prescriptions here are marked up 300-500% that's a very insane mark-up. My friend that happens to be on disability was caught off guard and disoriented whilst just waking up and blind sided by her script that was $49 for 25 pills. The same medication that was $13.50 two months ago. Up a whopping $35.50. WTF right?! Talked to the snotty know it all pharmacist that just lied and said "its the cheapest generic we can find right now"(followed by the ingenious collapse of her logic) and "it's the only one we can get right now" The last generic they carried that was "affordable at $13.50 was qualitest. I've got news for you Hiron's pharmacist, qualitest is still is the cheapest out there and available to all pharmacies. The price for this medication has not "gone up" throughout the pharmaceutical industry as you so stupidly claimed, the mark-up at the store you work at is astoundingly high for certain medications. Why? "Because we sell so little of it" So that seems fair to the disabled and elderly that cannot afford the medicine they need delivered to them every month because they can no longer drive. Let's milk them for an 800% profit to cover the 1 cubic foot of space you have to store it in. Nice job Hirons Drug. Thanks for raking the poor and elderly and disabled over the coals one more time. The pharmacy gave me the wrong medicine when filling my prescription three times in a six month period!! :(

While this store has many great things in it, I don't think I'll ever come back. The costumer service I received was of terrible quality. I want to point out one employee in particular by the name of Katie. She was not helpful to me at all. I felt as though she was trying to get rid of me as soon as possible. Really a bad employee. She didn't smile or make me feel welcome at all. I would give this store no stars if possible. The prices are extremely high for how cheap their merchandise is. read more

I have always loved coming into this store as it has continuously been very inviting to the common shopper. It has anything you could possibly imagine, from bandaids and birthday cards to mermaid hair and finger tentacles. This store has anything and everything, and is so much fun to explore every single time. One employee in particular has made my experiences at Hirons exceptional, and her name is Katie. Whenever Katie is there, my experience is taken from good to phenomenal. She is always very helpful and full of positive energy which is very nice to see this day in age. She really seems like she enjoys her job at Hirons, and what a great place it is for her to be. Wonderful store, wonderful employees. I will continue to shop here! read more
