AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Read the negative reviews. They're all the same. When there's a bad experience, the owner (Eric Pfeffer) completely ghosts you. Never responds. Every time. Here was our experience. We had His Workmanship come in to do some weeding and mulching. We gave instructions in 3 ways: verbally, in written form, and even drew a diagram! The two high school / college kids ended up pulling out over 15 plants and a 4.5 foot tree out of a rain garden, that we had just spent over a year of work on to get the way we needed to absorb water. Easily over $1,000 of plants were pulled out, plus the fact that the rain garden is useless now (because it was fall, and not enough time to re-plant before winter). This rain garden kept water from freezing on the sidewalk, and causing a hazard. After 2 kind emails to Eric Pfeffer that weren't returned, and 2 unreturned phone calls as well, we decided to look him up. Google "Eric Pfeffer Minnesota tax", if you desire. He has no integrity in 2025 (as judged by completely ghosting dozens of reviewers who asked to discuss a negative customer experience). And he had no integrity from 2017-2021, when he was charged with 6 felonies for tax evasion, underreporting approximately $700,000 in income. read more

She came when she was supposed to but the worker was very slow. She only did one small area and one medium area in eight hours. She had plenty of time to do MUCH more. After she was here for some time, she told me that she was leaving 20 minutes early. If you know anything about His Workmanship, they will not give you any money back for non-performance. I'll get a credit for any future work, but that won't happen. Then when it came time to pay them, I was paying in cash. I tried telling the worker that I wasn't going to pay for the time she wasn't there but she refused to leave until she had the full amount. Then I asked for a receipt for the cash and she told me that she can't give one but that Eric would send me one within a couple of minutes. Which he NEVER did, despite repeated requests on my part. I used this company in 2021 and had no issues. I recently used the service (8/2025) and it was terrible. I wanted hedges trimmed first and foremost and if time permitted I wanted weeds pulled. The owner ERIC PFEFFER (very dishonest guy) sent two young guys (high schoolers) over to do the work and they showed up with buckets, and Menards bags, and no hedge trimmers because they were told they were pulling weeds only (they showed me the text) and I have a recording. I reached out when they arrived unprepared and asked him if he could cancel the job. Something he refused to do. I felt sorry for the young guys because as a mother with a son in college I would not want this done to him. He put all parties in a bad situation and did not care at all, guessing the money was more important to him than doing the right thing. I basically paid 600.00 and gave them a tip for 3 hours or pulling weeds. One of the guys did leave and picked up shears to trim the hedges in front of my house but I have numerous hedges around my house so what I hired them for was not completed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Wish I had done my research on the owner because that would have told me everything I needed to know about Mr Pfeffer and his ability to be honest. I seriously suggest looking into this guy before using the company. He's using religion as a cover and I should know better by now because life has taught me that some of the most dishonest individuals in the world pretend to be religious but think prayer makes their dishonesty ok. The team of 2 who were supposed to clean up fall debris, trim overgrown bushes, etc. became a "team of 1". No one called but Anthony did show up. No one called to say the team leader was sick and wouldnt be at my home. Anthony said he could do the work -- but he couldn't. He had none of the right tools. Like electric trimmers. So he started but did a poor job. Before he left, he told me Eric called him and told him I owe him $50 more. When I asked "what for" Anthony quickly told me, he (Anthony) made a mistake. $50 was a red flag. I went looking for their website. "HisWorkmanshipLabor.com" (see photo) tells the story of their Christian values. Quote: "The mission of His Workmanship is to glorify God as we embody the gospel through our hard labor and our honest behavior." Check out the photo. More searching turned up Craig's list ad that pinpoints their location in the middle of the Marquette U. campus. I'd never recommend them. (not because of MU). These guys are a rip off. read more

I would give a 0 rating if this was an option. Save yourself some time and money and find a trustworthy company to work on your job. In summary, I paid for bushes to be trimmed in my yard. The workers did not complete the job as I explained. I contacted Eric and asked that the workers come back to complete the job. Eric's immediate response was that it was my fault for not being home and he is not sending the workers back. I reminded Eric that I informed him I would not be home for the full duration of the job and his reply was "we don't need you onsite the whole timeframe. If you could get the crew started at 3pm on May 3rd, that would be great." I asked him why he told me I didn't need to be home if he was going to have a problem with this, but I received no response. Eric also accused me of wanting the workers to come back and work for free. I reminded him that I paid him upfront for the work, however they did not complete the job. Again, there was no response. I now have oddly shaped bushes and will have to find someone else to complete the work. Eric does not have a phone number on his website. He only communicates by email. I asked that he call me so that we could talk rather than back and forth email. He did not call. Be wary of what he tells you. He is not professional and takes no accountability for his faults. I DO NOT recommend doing business with this company. I will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I think this is my first Yelp review ever and I'd give them ZERO stars if it let me. Ad offered same day service, Impossible when received no reply for over 24 hours, only then was I told that there is a minimum charge and a minimum number of workers... which Eric very rudely told me I should have known because I filled out the form. When I told him I did not select 2 workers, and that it says 35/hour, not 35 per worker he replied "You assumed it was per hour, that's on you". Absolutely terrible customer service, outright rude and deceitful business and should not be claiming any religious ties. read more

The guys showed up on time, moved a ton of heavy furniture and even a riding lawn mower. They finished with 2 hours to spare, and only took a short lunch break. I could tell they were not 100% coordinated like I've seen movers in the past (just how movers work together and handle large pieces, it was a little rougher than that), but they were still more skilled than the average person, and put in all the effort to make up any difference, and were overall intelligent about what they did (moving through some difficult areas, and we weren't completely prepared for them and they still handled everything like champs and helped with boxes when we originally only planned to have them help with furniture, still finishing early!) I would recommend having a few tools handy (tape measure, wrenches, etc) to help make things a bit easier (I was a little personally unprepared there having moved recently and then was moving again), but would also 100% recommend their service. Andrew and Andrew where friendly and courteous. I had a plot of ground full of weeds I needed cleaned up and leveled out. It had rained overnight so the ground was soft and muddy. It was very heavy mud to shovel and put into bags so I could transport to the recycling yard. They removed the top layer of soil with all the weeds nicely and loaded the bags into the back of my SUV. I also needed to have the plot of bare ground leveled out so I could lay mulch the next weekend. They did a great job with everything. Thank you guys. read more

*************BUYERS BEWARE***********BUYERS BEWARE************** Well... Where do I begin... This service was not exactly what I expected. The people on the website and those who have written reviews definitely persuaded us to use His Workmanship for our landscaping project. We sent pictures of the work we wanted done, we exchanged emails back and forth just to be clear. The owner Eric Pfeffer promised us a crew that had landscaping/yardwork experience and the required tools. Three workers showed up with 2 shovels. Only one knew what he was doing and the other two stood around and watched most of the time, even after the "crew leader" had given them tasks. We didn't expect any top of the line landscapers but we sure didn't think they would would come and stand with their hands in their pockets. Eric was originally charging us $50 an hour for 3 people that was there from 9am - 2pm. ($50 x 5 hours = 250 per person!! ($250 x 3 = $750 total) He also charges $150 per load if they are used to haul anything away. Hopefully you don't have a huge load because they rented the smallest U-Haul pickup truck I've ever seen. It took 3 truck loads for 6 medium sized shrubs. I eventually had to call another company to finish removing the base of the shrubs even though ERIC said his crew could do ALL the work efficiently. I felt horrible for the poor college students that he is using because they had no clue he had made so many false promises. When I had the crew leader call the owner he apologized and said he would make the labor rate $40 an hour instead of $50. RIDICULOUS!! $1000 for a job that was only 10% completed by the time they were leaving. This company is a huge SCAM and is using God to rip people off. Be very careful!! I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and any other agency that I can find. read more

I relocated to Milwaukee and was able to use friends to move from CO, which meant I was at their mercy regarding timing. I was given less than a week's notice and all reputable company's with decent reviews on Yelp were booked. However, I came across Workmanship and their one review and decided to give them a call. Eric responded within 30 minutes and was very professional. Unlike the movers in Denver who didn't confirm, showed up two hours late, and sent one mover when I booked two...Eric was in constant contact. Oh they joys of moving ‍ Anyway, Eric's team contacted me a few hours before our agreed time to reconfirm and arrived early. I only needed the movers to unload the truck, so I can't speak for packing but they were great. I would definitely use Workmanship again. read more

The two guys who came to help with some moving and landscaping were incredible! Arrived on time, incredibly hard workers, didn't want a break. I asked them to do 4 fairly large tasks and they were done in record time. I found a few other smaller tasks for them to do, which they also did perfectly. I never write reviews for anything, so the fact that I am writing one now should tell you how horrible this experience was. To begin, I needed help moving so I contacted Eric and received a very quick response. We went over everything including what I needed help moving and came up with a date and time, which sounds good, right? Well, the opposite happened. I was told that Anthony would be the crew leader and Matt would be his helper. A day before the move, I got in contact with Anthony and we both agreed to start the move at 8 am instead of the agreed upon 9am because he had something to do at noon. Come moving day, Anthony was nowhere to be found. I tried calling and it went straight to voicemail. Matt also never showed up because him and Anthony we're carpooling that day. After moving almost everything out of our old place and in to the Uhaul (approximately 10am, or 2 hours after the agreed upon time) with my 56-year-old father and 8 months pregnant wife, I finally got a call from Anthony. His excuse was that he overslept because his phone died after not properly plugging it in the night before. He asked me if I still needed help, and I told him than even though we were ALMOST done moving everything out, we still could use some help at the location I was moving out of. He then told me him and Matt would be over in about 45 minutes. Well, 45 minutes goes by and Anthony texts me to tell me that he is at our new house. Confused as to why he would show up at the new house instead of the old house when I never told him to do that, I called him. His new excuse was that he misunderstood me and that he was "sorry." Not only was I extremely upset, but I was beyond the point of apologies and told him I no longer needed his help. So, long story short, I never received anything from His Workmanship except a few emails and apologies. If I could give zero stars, I would. This has to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had as a consumer and I would never recommend this company to anyone, even to my worst enemy. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE!!! read more

The landscaping crew from His Workmanship did a great job. I have a large property with many flower beds. They worked for 5 hours, with little rest time, to remove weeds and overgrowth, and lay down mulch. Property looked great when they were finished. read more
