We didn't visit the park, but booked the Mobile Harbor boat tour through them to see the US United States. Awesome boat tour. Really enjoyed Capt. Jeff and Charles. They were knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommend! read more

It's a lesser known historical battlesite of the civil war, a battle fought after Robert E. Lee had already ceded to the Union. Lesser known means lesser touched. It sat untouched for over 100yrs after the battle. Also has camping. read more

Camped with my family. Used spot H13. Pick Delta for more space. Harper for a more compact area. There are absolutely NO mosquitos. The firewood IS WET. The rules say no external firewood but literally everyone else had firewood from outside the park. BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD. Cannonball Run is a good bike trail. Must-Do if you have an easy mountain bike rig. Overall an awesome park and a recommend. read more

Such an awesome, beautiful place, it was awesome to visit this historic Civil War landmark that includes a battlefield & cemetery. While I was there, I saw families with children hiking & people on mountain bikes riding the trails. There are also horse stalls, trailers. Blakeley Park is pet friendly, I was here with my dog, I saw several other people with their dogs as well. There were cabins that looked really nice, I also saw others camping in tents in November ( It does not get very cold on the Gulf Coast). I only saw two parts of the park, a few trails, I will definitely come back again. It is only $4 a person to visit this park (day use), you cannot beat that. read more

This park would've gotten 5 stars if it had had a good map. It's an awesome park, and it's a *real* hike, requiring, like, real hiking boots in places. But, the map they give you at the entrance is...well, dangerous it's so bad and archaic. We got lost on one of the back-woods trails it was so bad, because we didn't know the park doesn't really go on a loop (or if it does we couldn't find it) unless you're willing to go through some very back-woodsy trails and possibly get lost in some very knotty, tree rootsy back-woods paths. That lousy map is downright dangerous if you ask me, because you could very well get lost in those woods and spend a very cold, very scary night in a swamp back there and they probably wouldn't find you, if they even knew to go looking for you. So yeah, a better map and better signage is needed. In fact, we encountered some German tourists who lost their map and needed to borrow ours, and with the language barrier, and how fuzzy the map was *before* they took a photo of it, I hope they made it out ok! Also, why are there no bathrooms at the entrance? You have to go a mile back into the park to find them, and even then we got lost. (The signage ain't great.) Still a very cool place to hike though, and I'm looking forward to going back to take some of their river cruises. Very cool. And I will say this, Christy, a very nice lady who works the front gate, was super helpful and sweet as pie. I wish everyone could be so nice and helpful. She even spotted me a $1 when I was a $1 short on the entrance fee ($5/person btw). I offered to pay with a credit card, but she just spotted me instead. (I went back and paid the $1 after I rummaged through my car for change, though.) Park attendants like Christy are a treasure, so I hope the park system hangs on to nice, helpful employees like that! Overall cool park with lots of Civil War stuff -- a cemetery, artillery guns, monuments, and what's left of an old fort -- cool cabins and paddocks for horses, it's dog-friendly and has some super awesome trails, assuming you don't get lost. Great boat tours , friendly staff, clean area to walk and enjoy nature. We live near the park so we bought an annual pass and use it often.

Good walking paths they also have bike and horse paths .... Fabulous tree learning site and a cool lil history lesson. read more

This was a really interesting place to see. It is a historic , battle at fort blakely one of the last of the civil war and recreational park..you get a map at the gate and it is self guided..they do have a tour boat but the day we were there it wasnt open. We took my daughter in law who helped us navigate around to see the battle sites..they also have a very nice camping area..and the biggest oldest oak tree I have ever seen..it is so pretty in there and well worth the drive thru.. read more

Beautiful park for walking and riding bikes. You can spend time looking out over the water as well.

Blakeley serves as both a recreational area and an historical site. Typical outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and boating (there is no swimming because of the respectable population of alligators) are available. There is a relatively new facility for RVs and an area for tents only. Several miles of trails offer views of the delta and lots of wildlife if you're quiet enough. A boat tour of the park is also available. This is also the site of the last major battle of the Civil War, which occurred on the same day that Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House. The earthworks were almost totally destroyed, but the park is in the process of restoring them and adding markers that denote units and actions. Every April, there is a reencactment of the battle. State budget cuts have the park in danger of being closed at the time of this review. read more

I am willing to give it another try, we come to the area yearly to service their fire hydrants, after all Cheryl's wonderful comments then as a short term trial we will try again Meaher is hard to top, i'll warn but very different camping tho, we are in huge RV and working so the view is most important to us in long run, and not being locked in our out is pretty important to me read more

The Battle of Fort Blakeley is the sight of one of the last battles of the Civil War. Blakeley was also a town at one time. If I hadn't visited Shiloh in the past, I might be a little more impressed with Blakeley. This seems like a small, country, good-ole-boy thrown together park, campground and picnic area. The roads are one lane and mostly dirt or gravel. They are not well marked, and trying to follow the maps can be confusing. At first I thought the guy that drew the maps must have had a good buzz going. Toward the end of the trip I realized the maps were good, and it was the guy that put out the markers, and apparently not the road signs, that was obviously inebriated. There are two maps. One is a blown-up version of Battlefield Road. I would say to make sure you're looking at that map when you're on that road because there are several markers with the same numbers. Unfortunately, there's no way to know when you're on that road because it isn't marked, so just be sure to look at both maps and descriptions of both numbered markers to figure out where you are and what you're looking at. They do have some pretty cool things to see such as the foundation of the first courthouse in Baldwin County. The walking trails would be a fun adventure in the cooler months when you can wear jeans and boots. The trails seem a little too snakey to go traipsing through in shorts and flip flops. With that being said, there are a few cool boardwalks over by the Tensaw River where you can walk and take in a little nature. The majority of this place makes me wish I still had horses. If you have some, Blakeley would be a great spot for trail riding and exploring, and horses are allowed here. It's open seven days a week until 7 pm. The price of admission is only $3 for adults, $2 for children, $6 for horses and $4 for bicycles. Primitive camping is $6 per adult and $4 per child, and RV camping is $30 per night. The boat trips, which they do not offer daily, are $25 per adult and $15 per child. read more

Spent the night to test some new backpack gear. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had a camp spot that suited our needs. We got two bundles of firewood and a primitive spot and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The hiking is not difficult and the scenery is lovely. We definitely recommend and will be back. read more

I go camping and hiking here on a regular basis and love it. It's a great place for car camping ,hiking,picnics or horseback riding on the horse trails. "Bring your own horse" as they do not have horses for you to rent. They have clean restrooms and showers.Fire rings are located at each camp site and it's not hard to find a camp site all to yourself, especially on weekdays.They sell firewood at a decent price and have maps for you to follow for hiking. This place has a lot of history. They also have an RV area. The offer a river tour of the river delta. Call for days it runs as it's not offered everyday. read more

Visited the park in mid-February on a nice day. Drove to the end and walked along boardwalk for a bit along the shore of river; really enjoyable to be this close and in near solitude. Then drove to the battle site; the signage and reconstruction of defenses were helpful to understanding how a battle takes shape. Later and further along, we walked along the breastworks used for protection and defense by the two sides. Interesting that this battle happened after Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House. read more

The camp is fine. I have no complaints about that. My complaint is with the older gentleman that works in the office. I called to reserve a camp site and he asked for my card number. I asked if he was just "holding" the card and that I could pay in cash when I got there. He assured me that was the case. My plans fell through so I called to cancel and turns out he already charged my card. When I reminded him that he told me he was only holding my card, he begins to raise his voice at me and insist he never said such a thing because that's not their policy. I think ill take my money to a more honest park. read more

Paid for my camp site in advance. Told the Ranger I was going to Mobicon in Mobile as I had an Artist's table and I would be back late. Not once did the Ranger explain to me they locked the gate at night. And I was not given any sort of package or contact number for the guard house as the manager who called had suggested. In fact she told me I had "cussed" her, and never once did I use one piece of foul language. She called me looking for me to explain what had happened and seemed to already have her mind made up about me. She told me I was NOT getting a refund. And even after I informed her I was a disabled veteran and they had done this to me on Memorial Day she seemed not to care. While I was trying to explain my side of the situation she constantly cut in saying she had had enough. Honestly not sure they are actually part of the Alabama State Park system. I would advise people avoid this place at all costs! They are deceitful and rude at worst. Or at the least they are too uneducated to offer proper customer service. Total fail! This is NOT a STATE park. Cannot find it on the Alabama State Parks site. Which of course makes calling is Blakeley State Park fraud right off the bat. Also called my bank and contacted the Alabama State Atty and the Baldwin CO Sherriff to report fraud. read more
