Came here to rv for a few days. The sites are fully paved and very level. They also have full hookups at each site. There is a boat dock and fishing pier as it is on the bay. Amazing state park and for such an adorable price to RV. The RV park is huge to start off with. We got a paved site which was huge and hat a grill to cook on. If you are staying at the RV park you can use the area to fish even if you don't have a boat. The area is so nice because it is a combination of wild area and water. The restrooms are also nice and clean. The bathroom areas are all private. Each bathroom has a shower also. It was nice peaceful and quiet. We did get to see some gators and husband caught some fish. The park is conveniently located just a few miles from the USS Alabama ship and museum. If you want to go somewhere a little more upscale Fairhope is only an about a 20 minute drive. It is outside of town, but within minutes you have grocery and retail shopping. read more

This is a spacious campground on the bay. There is a long boardwalk to view nature. Located right off of I-10.. The park entrance has a small sign and it's easy to miss. Several nearby restaurants. read more

Great Park! Easy to get in and out of sites. It's a small park, but the sites are large! Don't plan to go swimming here. There's lots of Critters in the water! Campground host was very welcoming, and had lots of suggestions for both the campground and the area. Beautiful sunsets! Nice little park near the wetlands. I would stay here for a week. There is road noise because It carries over the water. Kayaks if you want to go into the water. Clean and neat. The tent sites are near the boat ramp. They let me park in one because they were out of RV sites. I paid $28 for one night for tent site Senior RV site is more. The poor dog does not like the duck hunting noises over the water when they sit off a charge to scare the ducks. ( poor ducks) I also wish people who have RV would learn about light pollution. Great place to TV, Camp, Canoe, Boat, Kayak, Fish. I was there for day use only. RV site has a very large, clean shower facility. Pet friendly as long as dogs are on a leash. Drive slow, watch for turtles, they are abundant in these parts. Park admission $2 for day use, $4 boat launch per vehicle fee. Not sure what the camping rates are, check with park or website. Meaher State Park is also directly across from Five Rivers Delta Center off the Causeway (US-98/90 off of I-10E). Place is quiet, not crowded, other park goers were respectful. Good place to fish as long as you have both a freshwater & saltwater license. Mobile Bay is beautiful. I will return soon. read more

So far in 2020 we have spent 13 weeks at Meaher State Park and I must tell you... I believe we will consider this our home park for the rest of our days! :) That is quite a bold statement right?! Let me explain why... First off... Meaher State Park is absolutely stunningly beautiful with it's 50 foot pine trees and spacious RV spots. There is plenty of space in between each RV. Plus the views we had from our windows were of Mobile Bay. No bad view in this park - almost all are water views or right on the water. And the sunsets we hear are the best in Alabama (or possibly the United States :)). For reasons I don't understand the sky at on Mobile Bay changes drastically from night to night so we captured so many incredible sunsets that we all so unique. Please see our post here with many of those sunsets. :) Secondly... Our kids love the park! (So yours will too! :)) Every morning they would rush to get out of bed and ride their bikes down to the beach or to the Delta while taking several trips around the park. The park is full of stunning tall pine trees and wildlife. Of special interest to us and many people in the park this spring were the massive family or flock Canadian geese with 20 + chicks. We watched them grow from hatchlings to ready for flight. We unfortunately missed seeing them take flight but by now they've surely taken off back towards Canada. Funny to think as soon as they start flying they fly over 1000 miles! :) Thirdly... The Spanish Fort, Daphne, Fairhope area is just an incredible area to visit! Eastern Shore Alabama really took us by surprise with it's unbelievable beaches - Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Dauphin Island and Perdido key! Wow is all I can say! And all that is within an hours drive of the park. There are also huge restaurants for fresh seafood on Battleship Causeway right by the park. Oyster House was my favorite! Lastly... The manager of the park is our person of 2020! She'll laugh reading this and I'll leave her name out of it but she is fantastic and treated our family incredibly well being sure we had a place to stay during the crazy 2020 pandemic lockdown. (A special thanks to you my dear friend!) In addition to the manager - the entire staff are just good people... And knowledgeable... These folks love what they do and take care of this pristine park! I don't normally write this long of reviews and I could go on but... I'll leave it at that for now with a possible update later. Please be sure to check out the pics. We took many! P.S. We love coming here this is now our second time! Camping with electric/water hook up the park is absolutely gorgeous the only thing I would change is making the campsites not have gravel as it's not good for tents and has poked holes into ours maybe some clay or grass way better and I would also recommend getting more shade for the tent section like I said park is amazing and staff is fantastic just these little thing would make it perfect!!! read more

Great state rv park. It is a bit hot and humid in mid summer but it is southern Alabama. Rv sites were large and well maintained.

Love it! Sights RV sites level with full hookups, beautiful view, and great camp hosts (Rex & Tammy ..hope I got the names right) Highly recommend! Very close to the USS Alabama battleship parkway. Give it 4 stars because the poor customer service at the gate upon checkout. read more

Meaher State Park is one of the best state parks we have stayed at. It had full hookups with sewer too! It was clean, had lots of room, and was located in a quiet, great place. Although I cannot recommend visiting Mobile, Alabama, I would recommend staying at Meaher State Park. It is a relaxing place to spend a few days and enjoy some southern nature. I am not a camper but I love this park. The location is fabulous - right on Mobile Bay. There are campgrounds and even has a few cabins for rent. The little beach is perfect for watching the water and sunsets There is a pier that extends over the Delta and well over the Bay that is a gem for views. We were excited about staying at this beautiful park with nice views of bay and a great breeze but we had to leave due to our surge protector reading a reverse Polarity prior to us plugging in motorhome at our site #10. We tested several of the surrounding empty sites and got the same readings of reverse Polarity. We did a quick lunch at our site, walked the dog and decided not stay due to the backwards wiring and what affects it might have on our RVs wiring system. We were really disappointed we couldn't stay due to the reverse Polarity. We would stay here again only if the park gets their electrical systems fixed at each camp site. You couldn't ask for a nicer state park. Paved level full hookup sites, some right on mobile bay. Nice boardwalk into the bay. We saw rabbits, otters, gators, osprey, and bald eagles. This park is right across the street from five rivers delta resource center, another must see! read more

Located on Mobile bay,this is a great stop while visiting the USS ALABAMA. Large flat sites with pine trees and a view of the water. Nice bath house with clean large showers. They also have laundry facilities. The gate person was very nice and knowledge of the area. The gate closes at dusk so a code is needed to get in. A nice security touch for a State park. Loved the campground. Beautiful view of Mobile Bay. Only a few minutes from downtown Mobile and was the perfect place to stay for Mardi Gras Parades. We really like the push button entry for guest after 7 pm. read more

We stayed here in December 2015. Nice clean park. Not a lot of water pressure in showers though. Nice view of the bay and close to several restaurants. Have a trip planned for this weekend. So far we have had no problems with ants. We camped here in a travel trailer. read more

Expensive, clean and small park. Full hookups and laundry. You're paying mainly for the waterfront and nice sunset views. Wi-fi does not extend much beyond the ranger station. Shower temperature is fixed and too hot or cold. No meaningful hiking trails, just a short boardwalk and some tiny paths between a handful of trees. read more

$40 a night for RV...I feel everyone should know this...for a state park that kinda high in my book...it is pretty here ...i am editing my review BEWARE OF THE SHOWERS! I felt dirtier after taking a shower...they were so dirty u have to leave ur shoes on...the showers r super disgusting! This place is not worth $40 a night!!! read more

We have been staying here since mid December and will be leaving at the beginning of February. Although the location is next to the water there is not a beach to walk on. Our view is of the Causeway over the bay and we have had some great sunsets! The spaces are paved and spaced well apart so you don't feel like you are sitting on top of your neighbors. The laundry and showers are very clean and work well. The cost of the wash is $1.50 and drying is $1.00 which is far less expensive than we normally see. There is a table for folding and your normal lend/trade library in the laundry area. There is a fishing pier and an additional walk out into the swamp area that you cannot fish from. The park is very dog friendly although ours are not with us. Everyone working here is friendly. We like the additional security of have the gate close at dusk. We stayed in this location to be close to family that live here and have eaten at several great places, some known mostly to the locals! For sure try Felix's on the causeway for great food and service. Also visit Neighbor's for chicken and Dreamland for ribs. We are here during the winter so we have had some cold nights and have had to use our heated water hose. I would give the park a 5 star if the WiFi were better. We had to make some adjustments to get our Satellite to work and it was subject to loosing reception in high winds or heavy rain, so we watched DVDs. If you have a dome on your RV ask for a spot that trees won't be an issue, otherwise we see a lot of the portable satellites Our cost was about $24.00 with our extended stay. We came into the area from the east off I 10 and the park is easy access off the first exit in Spanish Fort/Daphne. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. We do hear it fills pretty quickly for Mardi Gras so if that is your plan suggest you call early to make reservations. read more

If Al Gore was to design a state park this would be it. This is a great place if you have a $300,000 RV and never step outside but if you like to camp in a tent like my wife and I do this place is terrible. No fire rings because the enviromentalists apparently do t want you adding to the carbon footprint of Alabama. No pole to hang a lantern from. Light pollution. And the showers are like those you would find in a prison. In an effort to save water the showers have 'timers' that allow you to apparently only have about 3 minutes of hot water and then it shuts off. Most of the other people here stayed cozy inside their land yachts with all the hot water they need but if you like to camp where you can actually sit outside and enjoy nature this is NOT the place for you. I would suggest you pass by Meaher and find another campground if you really like to camp. read more

Meaher State Park is a neat, well kept campground. The staff were friendly and helpful. The WIFI was the best we have experienced camping in 5 years. Not a lot to do here, although the nature boardwalk and pier were nice. Now, for the bad news. This was the worst ant infestation we've ever experienced. Small, little ants that don't bite but there were billions! Both cars and the camper were covered after 1 week there. We had to throw out $50 of food and it will take at least a week of bug bombs and stripping everything from the camper to clean to rid our vehicles of these pests. We won't be back until we know they are gone. Watch your pets. There are some big gators there. read more
