It's just steps from downtown, so an excellent location! I loved the 'literary' theme - each room is named after and decorated for a famous author. There were six of us, so we rented the entire attic, which was perfect for our group. The rooms were unique, the beds were comfortable, and even with the summer heat, our rooms stayed cool. Our host, Larry, was truly incredible and so hospitable. He knows Stillwater inside and out and had wonderful recommendations for where to eat and what to see. He even suggested we take a drive up to Marine on St. Croix, about 10-15 minutes north of Stillwater, and we loved it. There is so much history to explore, plus a winery nearby. I recommend it too, if you are staying more than one night. Larry also thought of the little details, like setting out a puzzle he thought we would enjoy. Every evening at 5, the inn hosts happy hour with wine and a beautiful charcuterie spread. The rooms in the attic each had their own charm. The Jane Austen room was my favorite-it was especially cozy and even had a steam shower! The beautiful grounds surrounding the property were another highlight, including an enclosed gazebo that was perfect for enjoying the outdoors even when it rained. Perfect place with great restaurants/ cocktail bars and things to do. Not to mention the Rivertown Inn! It's been a few years since we've stayed here and we opted for the Oscar Wilde room. We will be back to stay here again! The others rooms we've stayed at in the past have also been beautiful, but this one takes the cake! Another perk to this place is the breakfast made by their phenomenal vegan chef. I don't eat pork and she whips up an awesome meal that makes me wish she could cook for me daily. There was one lightbulb burnt out in our room and three lightbulbs burnt out in the bathroom. The panel covering the bathroom sink bottom had fallen off. The towels were cheap white fabric and not classy. One of the bannisters on the spiral staircase rail was loose and wobbly that could cause a tripping accident. There were lots of spider webs on the boat's exterior and a stain on the cushion of a deck chair. Breakfast was almost inedible because the hash browns and mini quiches were blackened and burnt. Skip the breakfast! The cabins are still unique, but be aware to arrive with low expectations as far as being a guest-ready B & B.

I've tried to get Yelp to indicate "permanently closed," but the listing is still up. Too bad, because back in the day, this was a sweet and charming place to stay. Ownership changed and it went downhill rapidly. I really wish Yelp would maintain some credibility and indicate this place is PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Folks, it simply is NOT THERE.

The photos felt misleading and the room did not live up to the pictures. -Outdated bedding that felt like it from from last century (or my grandma's house?) -Price: paid over $250 for one night. We could have gotten much more for less and that was disappointing. I agree with another reviewer that the owners need to visit other establishments to update the B&B and what they offer, otherwise lower the prices significantly. I have been to much nicer B&Bs for a much lower price. Just trying to be honest about what to expect, I really wanted to love this place.

The lady who checked me in upon arrival was extremely nice as well, but didn't get her name. I was allowed to check in early without any additional cost. If you arriving after front desk hours, I recommend you contacting the front desk. The front desk will advise you on how you can pick up keys via the lock boxes. I went to the front desk to ask for a room transfer and the lady seemed nonchalant and mentioned it was normal for them to come in when it gets cold. I transferred rooms and went to speak to the manager in the morning. Manager had a similar demeanor as the lady the night before when I told her about the vermin infestation she said they set mouse traps to control them. Neither of them apologized for the inconvenience. I left the hotel when 2 other classmates had mice in their rooms and when one of them told the front, they laughed at her for being afraid of it since she was on the bed panicked when she called.
