My husband and I flew in from Southern CA for a wedding here and found ourselves immediately blown away by the most beautiful hotel in the smallest little town of Marion. Let me say, I have traveled 48 states and stayed in many types of inns, hotels, bed and breakfasts etc over the years and have never experienced a place like this. Between the friendly staff and many conversations over the weekend, the delicious food at the Parlour 1886, and the unique ambiance. It was truly one of a kind. I saw so much love poured into every inch of this place. I truly hope we can make our way back to Kansas one of these days, so we can visit again. Thank you Jennifer and Alicia!

We loved our stay at the Historic Elgin Hotel! It was beautiful. A step back into a more elegant time! The staff was super friendly and the rooms were immaculate. We loved the beautiful staircase with the old music playing at all times. We enjoyed playing pool in the game room and working out in the gym!! This place is a hidden gem!

What a spectacular evening away We experienced at the Elgin Hotel! We met Jennifer at the front desk and she was so helpful telling us everything we needed to know about our stay. We also made a reservation for dinner and it was so delicious! The Old Fashioned cocktails were perfectly made by the bartender too. After dinner we sat outside on the veranda as we enjoyed some wine. Then our evening in the room was peaceful and relaxing. We can't wait to come back and stay! Thank you Elgin for a wonderful evening!

I travel quite a bit for work and always look forward to staying at the Elgin. The hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are spotless, the bedding is super comfortable, and the common kitchen is fully stocked with impeccable attention to detail. The area is walkable and the downtown is so cute. I highly recommend staying here! Don't forget to check out their steakhouse on the first floor and the yummy coffee shop across the street.

Wow. The Historic Elgin Hotel is one of the most beautiful and unique places I've ever stayed. You really feel like you've stepped back in time when you arrive. I really enjoyed the expert balance of vintage charm and modern convenience. Upon our arrival, we were given a quick tour. The staff were lovely. The first floor features a ballroom as well as a restaurant and cocktail lounge. A beautiful staircase winds toward the second and third floor guest rooms. Our room was cozy and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. We were invited to walk around and check out some of the other rooms. They are all beautiful and each have their own unique character. Every inch of this place is seriously striking. The second floor features a full kitchen for guest use. Coffee, tea, and some light fare is available round the clock. We spent some time later in the evening out on the second floor veranda taking in the night air. This place is so relaxing. It's magical. If you're looking to get out of your room, the whole hotel boasts comfortable seating areas throughout, but the third floor offers the most. Here you'll find the guest lounge as well as the library. We really enjoyed just walking around the place. There is so much to see! Back on the first floor make sure to check out the courtyard. Comfortable seating and a relaxing air day or night. At the center of the courtyard is the game room. There's a nice pool table, darts, antique card table and board games. It's yet another wonderful amenity and a reason to get out of your room! While the Historic Elgin Hotel offers ample 19th century charm, there are plenty of modern touches as well. Wifi, key code entry to the property and, most striking to me, the fitness center. Located behind a fairly nondescript sign, the fitness center is actually several rooms and offers a lot more than what you would find at most contemporary hotels. Top notch. The Elgin's elegance, comfort, and convenience would be hard to match. It was by far one of my favorite hotels I've stayed in. I hope to be back soon.Very highly recommended.

You will not find a more romantic and relaxing get away then here. Every time we are here we feel like queens!! We just love this place more and more with each visit. Tammy does such a wonderful job making you feel like you are the only guest. Brandi at the front desk was so helpful with everything we needed.

Sofie and I enjoy the B&B places to get a flavor of the area. A good B&B will allow one to sit with the natives, have conversation and enjoy their hospitality. For that, I'd never serve up less than 5 stars when I am hosted by good and kind people. Country Dreams Bed & Breakfast is "far from the madding crowd"... or at the end of a 2 mile dirt road where the sounds you will hear are cows lowing and frogs croaking. We were treated to a fine sunset in the evening. We enjoyed walking about looking at the long horns and seeing the pond change colors at twilight, sundown and sunset. It was a natural show that gave me pause to think: this happens every day! We came back from our walk to discover some warm cookies waiting for us on the table! They were especially delicious because we had no dinner. This place is not at all close to any restaurants - so plan on eating before you get there or bring something to make a sandwich with. There were some movies and a player in the community area, so we watched the Walk the Line movie about Johnny Cash. Nice. I always wanted to see that movie while we ate nuts and cookies. Breakfast was fun talking with the family - 3 generations discussing the days events. Country Dreams is a nice place to spend the night, but more important, it's an experience. It's a beautiful space, especially around twilight when the twinkle lights come on and everything is sparkly and magical-looking. The rooms at Timber Creek are the most unique I've ever seen. The main B&B house has three or four rooms, and each one is decorated with a different theme. My room (The Barnyard) is decorated with barn animals, and had an upstairs area. Upstairs was where you could find two twin beds, a reading nook, a baby crib, and a little lantern. This room would be so fun for a family to stay in, and it's very comfy. I got to peek at the other rooms, and each one is better than the last. One of the rooms (The Railroad) has trains in it! And if you want a really unique stay, ask for the Barn Owl Treehouse, which is literally a treehouse that you can stay in. Because this is a bed and breakfast, we got breakfast in the morning. It was delicious and homemade! They made sure to ask if there were any food allergies the night before, then they created a wonderful breakfast spread in the morning, which included apple tartlets, omelets, sausage patties, and lots of freshly brewed coffee. There was also cold cereal and a hot chocolate bar, too. Timber Creek is a big property, and you're welcome to explore. There are several walking paths -- some that lead to gardens and statues and other interesting sights around the grounds. You'll also come across Leo, at some point. He's the resident dog, and he loves to play fetch!
