My daughter was moving from downtown Savannah (Broughton Street) to a rental community and we needed someone to move her studio apartment furniture. I requested several quotes from movers on Yelp. THANK GOD DYLAN was one of those companies. Dylan always replied to all my messages and was very accommodating with scheduling and last minute laundry baskets full of household items. The week before the move, Dylan communicated several times with us including the day of the move. He showed up with blankets for all the furniture items and shrink wrap. Every furniture piece was covered and treated with care. The genius part was that a quarter of the mattress was shrink wrapped so that the mattress never touched the ground at any moment. I had never seen a company take this care of our items and we appreciated it. All in all, I highly recommend Dylan. We would gladly use him again. Make sure you get confirmation in writing. On 5/14/21 @11:53 AM Dylan made a commitment to handle our move on 5/21. He gave me pricing, he gave me his name and he gave me a promise to show up. I spoke to a few movers that day, his was the last conversation I recall, the last in my notes and the last recorded in my phone records. We hired Historic Movers in early September 2020 after speaking with Dylan to obtain an estimate. We obtained several estimates from various local companies and chose Historic Movers based upon their competitive pricing and timeline. We scheduled our move through Dylan the beginning of October 2020, as requested for a late October move based upon the sale of our home. Our move was scheduled to begin at 10:00am and was quoted at 4-5 hours duration. Dylan double booked our move day which was only discovered when we reached out to confirm our move the week of. Dylan failed to communicate with us that he had spoken with the other client and our move time would be changed. It took us 3 attempts to reach Dylan on our scheduled move day before learning that our move time had been pushed back. Dylan was short, unpleasant and behaved as though he was the one inconvenienced when he had provided no communication or notice to us throughout the process. The team of 3 movers finally arrived on our scheduled move day at 6:30 PM after we obtained contact information for the team and reached out to them directly. The team of men were professional, pleasant and well organized. However, the estimate was severely undershot in time and space as all of our belongings did not fit inside the truck. The movers transported our belongings to a storage unit, as planned. Meanwhile, as we were selling our home the following morning and had to be completely moved out, we were left to scramble to find a place to store our remaining items as the movers stated they would not make a second trip to retrieve the rest of our things and complete the move. Over the course of the evening, the incomplete move took 6 hours. It took several days before Dylan contacted us in an attempt to make things right. We were initially relieved as he agreed to charge us for the originally quoted 5 hours and complete the move by retrieving the remaining items we were forced to store in a neighbor's garage. We scheduled a second appointment with another team of movers for 10:00 am in early November - the movers did not arrive until 11:30 am. I can only hope prospective clients take the time to read this review as working with Historic Movers was the worst move yet (not our first move or last). Dylan is unprofessional, uncommunicative, and uncooperative. I would not place my trust in this company nor will they be recommended. read more

I am rating this company one star higher than what I originally would have, and, I will explain. We have had moving companies help us with 3 different moves in the past 20 months, so we have had some experience with moving companies. I believe Historic Moving Company has good intentions, but, it needs to improve in some areas. If you choose this company, then be sure this company clearly understands what your expectations are for the kind of truck and related supplies, such as blankets for protective padding and more than one dolly. My recommendation for this company is that it needs to ask in advance what specific items are to be moved and also to check the weather. Our experience with this company was less than ideal. However, both Dylan and Bernard were courteous and polite. Dylan was easily reached by phone prior to moving day when I had a question or two. However, he did not ask me what specific items were to be moved. After the move, Bernard noticed we had trash to be removed and volunteered for them to take the trash away, which was a help to us. They also hooked up the washer and dryer in the new apartment, which we had not expected them do do. So we gave them each a tip. OK, so the estimate I received was $80 for the truck and ! $100/hour for two movers for their estimate of 2.5 hours for a total of $330. This sounded reasonable to me. This was a move from a two bedroom ground floor apartment to a nearby building in the same apartment complex to a second story apartment, two bedroom. We really expected it to be less than two hours because a truck could be loaded with all the items from the ground floor apartment and then unloaded at the new apartment. Ended up, we paid $250 which is explained below. Rain was strongly predicted for the day of the move. On the day of the move, Dylan and Bernard showed up in a PICKUP, not a box type truck, and one dolly, no blankets, no padding for the bed of the truck or sides to protect furniture items and washer and dryer, nor tarps to protect from the rain. I was ready to fire them on the spot. Dylan convinced my son and husband that he and Bernard would do everything to protect my son's personal belongings and would cause no damage and would make multiple trips back and forth to get everything moved within two hours. They did end up accomplishing this, but, of course it did rain intermittently. I had a heavy quilt available to try to keep items dry, and, my husband and I had shrink wrapped the mattresses. We felt they could have been more gently with some items. They were rushing to get this done in the promised two hours with rain occurring on and off. I am hopeful that this review will help them improve in the areas noted. read more

I hired Historic Moving Co to move the contents of my one bedroom to a storage unit while I was terribly sick during the pandemic and had to quit school and work and move back in with my parents. Because of how ill I was I couldn't be there in person, but the reviews were glowing and they promised everything would be fine. They took two whole days and ended up charging me hundreds of dollars over the quote. It seemed a little outrageous but I paid it regardless because I was too sick to worry about it. Months later when I recovered and brought my stuff out of storage EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF FURNITURE I HAD WAS DAMAGED. Scratches on everything, tears in my mattress, nothing was wrapped, and some pieces were literally in disarray like my bookcase - the back panel was completely ripped off and the shelves were all coming loose. As for my things, a huge quantity of items were missing including an antique silver tray and a whole chair. They broke several of my grandmother's dishes. Things appeared to be thrown in shoddy boxes that were absolutely falling apart with no consideration to how delicate or heavy they were, I found several wine glasses just shattered in a box beneath a heavy casserole dish. When I called to complain, Dylan said they couldn't fit everything in the unit so they had to unwrap the furniture. This is absolute BS because there was an entire trunk and a huge suitcase that were placed into the unit empty, plus plastic furniture wrap takes up literally no space. I guess they also thought that because there "wasnt enough room" it was appropriate to throw out some of my stuff without telling me? Dylan also tried to argue that they couldn't be held responsible because there was no "proof" that my furniture wasn't damaged already or that any of my things were actually discarded/stolen as if I wasn't missing an entire piece of furniture. Absolutely egregious. I feel like I was completely taken advantage of in a time of vulnerability. I'm a college student, I only paid for the service because it was absolutely necessary at the time, and though my things aren't expensive or very nice they're still my things and I can't afford to replace any of it. I hired the Historic Moving Company to help my roommate and I with our move from Statesboro to Pooler. I inquired with the company, shared the details about our move, and it was confirmed that I was on the schedule. Now, keep in mind, my scheduled move was for 8 AM on a Saturday. My apartment's final move-out date was for Saturday at 12 PM. Total job would have been 4 hours long, so perfect right? No, everything went wrong. The morning of the move, I texted them and I was told that there would be a delay because of a truck issue. Over the next two hours, I was in contact with them and I was finally told that they were able to rent a truck and could be "out there by mid afternoon." I asked for a time and, two hours later, was told they would be at my place at 4:30 PM. At this point, my roommate's mother was also trying to reach them to no avail. No apology for being late and no sense of urgency. Now, it is almost 1 PM and I am already late for my apartment's move-out, but I am still waiting on the movers because I cannot leave without my things. I had even suggested trying to get a U-Haul trailer and just having them send the movers out to help me, but there was no guarantee on the help from their end because they were "behind." Interesting how my job could be the first of the morning, but not prioritized; however, from the looks of another review, it seems that they let many people down on this day. There were no other movers available on such a short notice and I can't secure a U-Haul either because they are all booked for the day. So, once again, I wait hoping that they wouldn't let me down again. Oh boy, was I wrong! Another false promise from the Historic Lying Company. At this point, it is almost 5 PM. I text them again asking if they are near my place and I am told that they would be unable to service because the truck is just now leaving from Charleston. Why was I told that they would be here at 4:30? Why did I have to contact them every time to get an update when they knew they wouldn't be showing up? Why did I have to wait 9 hours for a moving company to never show up for a 4 hour job? This company left multiple people stranded and waiting for them. They did not apologize or feel remorse nor did they attempt to provide solutions or rectify the problem. HORRIBLE customer service. I was never contacted again by them, and honestly good riddance. They displayed highly unprofessional behavior and blamed it on a truck problem. Shouldn't a moving company make sure that their trucks are in working order if they know they have multiple jobs and people waiting for them? Please save yourself the trouble and choose another company. Lastly, since they claim to be a Christian company, (as referenced by their voicemail) I'd like to offer a bible verse as a final word. Dylan was first contacted by my client to move my piano from Savannah to Charlotte. They set a price and time. My husband waited for three hours and Dylan never showed . He also never called or texted to say that he could not come. I proceeded to contact him directlyAnd he not only did not apologize but just simply said that he thought that he could get to our house the following Tuesday between four and six. At 6:15 the next Tuesday he had not shown up and I called him to see if he was coming he said he thought he could and I asked him if that was for real and he said probably not. I hired Historic Moving to unload a POD. I'm deduction one star because I'm a nervous Nellie. I had scheduled a window of 12-1, but come 1:30 they still weren't at the house so I ended up calling. Dylan apologized that they were still on another job and would be there by 3:00. They did miss the 3:00 but Dylan called with updates on their arrival time. Once they arrived, the service was top notch - his crew is clean and polite. Asked where to put everything etc and took great care moving everything. I also had them assist with some furniture rearranging due to the weight of the two solid wood pieces as well as haul away of some recliners and a bed. I selected them because I was provided a full quote including everything vs just an hourly rate. Also, during the days before the move, Dylan contacted me through email to make sure everything was clarified. My house is in a gated community with rules regarding POD time in the driveway etc. (48 hours only so scheduling was critical). read more
