Great museum collection if you can find a day they are open... which is rarely or never.

This place is one that reminds me of Sturbridge Village or Mystic Seaport in New England. You can…read morelearn about history, how they did printing back then, get a free tour from great guides and leave feeling more peaceful and enriched for life. I got to take my dad here this year and after the tour he said "sooo do they have any Books of Mormon here? " (After learning that when they were first printed, it was $1.25 or TWO days wages) and I said "yes," he said "well how much are they?" I said "free!" He exclaimed "WHAT?!?!!?!" But yes, with today's technology and the ability to print more easily than ever before- they are indeed free. After being in the Cast of the Hill Cumorah Pageant this year I can finally have a stronger grasp on why so many people have felt closer to God by reading this book, and how there really is something very special about having the privilege to read it and understand better why we are here on Earth, and how we can be more loving to each other and make the world a better place. But even if you aren't into all that ponderificness- it's just really cool to see HOW they did the printing back then! All those little letters, and separate ones for capital and lower case, and they have the "composing" station where they had to read the letters backwards, and then they get all put together and several pages printed at once. Next time I go I'll have to ask if they did ALL the pages for the "first run" all at once or if they had to keep coming back and doing it over. I can't recall how many were printed the first time- I'd think a few thousand, but then where would they keep all those pages? But to reset and do it all over again over and over would take SO much extra time.... It was really cool to learn how they did the binding and gluing and pressing and inking etc.... I highly recommend this stop. It's the most intellectual I think, although it's also the least spacious haha. The farm you can really spread out. But it's more technical and process oriented I might say.... intricate.... but the tour guides are the best. Smiling all the time with the best attitude and countenance. And it's funny that they not only are working for free but PAYING to be out on their missions, and yet give a much better experience than so many workers at various places who ARE getting paid but are just disgruntled....can't help but wonder- WHAT makes these people so different?

Come visit the Grandin Press! The LDS missionaries are on hand to guide you thru time and help…read morerecreate the print shop in the early 1800s. Wow! Free dailey tours available upon walk-in. Park in the back and come on in

I took the 90 minutes tour through Lock 32, which goes through it, tours a bit, and turns around. Light refreshments including beer and wine are available. The tour guides are well informed and the staff very friendly. It's a pleasant and educational trip. Adults pay $30, with lower fees for seniors, military and kids. Very much worthwhile.

Last October, when the Fall color was at its peak, I decided to take another canal tour. A lunch tour to lock 32. At the last minute a friend wanted to join me. I called the office, and they were able to accommodate us, but not able to get the lunch for her. We had a blast. We shared the Fairport Lunch, drank seltzer water and beer and shared the boat with a group on a surprise tour that ended on the canal tour. This trip was completely different from my previous one in the opposite direction. The experiences were different and the colors of the foliage enviable; gold, reds, oranges. The weather was perfect, partly cloudy, and then the sun broke and warmth came up and we had a sunny day Toward the end of the ride, the wind started to pick up. Along the way there were historical facts given by the crew. And we sang the famous "Low Bridge" song I was very happy, and my friend was also impressed with the trip. I highly recommend this tour.

Having seen the movie many times, I was overjoyed to visit the museum, which contains a treasure trove of unique photos and artifacts related to the movie. While many of the items are replicas not used in the actual film, it's still a perfect place for fans of the movie to kill a bit of time perusing pictures of the cast members, some of which who visit the museum annually for events. Admission is a modest $5 donation, and they have a cute gift shop with items for purchase. Staff on site at the museum cannot have been any friendlier, and were willing to let us stay a few minutes even past the closing time as we had arrived shortly before they closed for the day. There is a perfect photo op spot to commemorate your bisit to "Bedford Falls." This particular museum is located in a temporary spot through 2026 while the original permanent museum is undergoing major construction and expansion. While I'm sure the permanent museum complete with theater.would be a perfect 5 out 5 rating from me, this temporary museum space was still a very enjoyable experience for me. If you are a fan of It's a Wonderful Life, make it a point to visit this museum in Seneca Falls. There is a bridge in town which served as inspiration for the bridge scene in the movie.

The museum itself is a small spot that is chock full of great photos and interesting stories about the movie and its cast, many of which were new to me. I learned some interesting tidbits and could definitely feel the care and appreciation with which the museum is curated. It is, though, very small, and surprisingly lacking in actual memorabilia--as explained up front, only 5 known movie props exist, most with private collectors. Perhaps unfair, but I guess I was expecting something a bit more. Still and all, worth a visit if you are visiting scenic Seneca Falls and the amazing Women's History National Park nearby. Make sure to walk over to the nearby bridge after your museum visit, which is definitely a convincing piece of this town's claim to be the "real" Bedford Falls.
