Mainly a museum, with small offices in back and a meeting room that has some artifacts in it. An old bank building, and one of the displays is inside the vault. Everything very nicely arranged and marked. One room set up as a parlor, one with kitchen stuff, one with sports stuff, etc. A beautiful model T in the center of the building. Super friendly staff. I learned a few things. I would definitely come back. And I recommend this to anyone interested in Grove City or Central Ohio history. It's a half hour or so of your time, and free. Open Tuesday through Saturday I think. Free street parking.

Yes, I definitely wish there were more artifacts, posters and clothing on display, but that's just because I'm a lover of any and all things 60s era, so anything original to the time period just plain excites the dickens out of me and makes me think and ponder socio-economic conditions, and life in general, during America's past 100 years even more, haha. The museum is next to the Sherman house, a historical home with its own significance. There's plenty of free street parking if the small lot next to DACO happens to be full. I believe it was $11 to see their spotlight exhibit. If you're an art/history buff, I recommend you take a day stroll down to Lancaster and stop here; anything of historical significance is always worth patronizing, imo.

As part of the exhibit, I took a flower arranging class at the art education center on the museum property. Our instructors Brooke and Elizabeth were very knowledgable and gave us lots of helpful tips for working with flowers at home. Elizabeth provided all of the fresh flowers from her floral design business and farm (Bluegreen Gardens) and they were gorgeous. Admission to the Decorative Arts Center is free. On the weekends, they are open Saturdays and Sundays 1-4 pm. The staff is made up of volunteers and they are always fantastic.

They have a great display of fossils and gems found locally, in the US, and around the world. I also loved that they give you information about how the science of geology and paleontology has evolved in recent years, how scientists put together dinosaur skeletons, and even how to distinguish a fossil from a non-fossil. I enjoyed my time there! Parking is limited, so make sure you check signs before walking away from your car.

Located on the Oval at The Ohio State University, Orton Hall Geological Museum is the second oldest…read morebuilding (1893) on the campus. It houses a museum, library, The Din-O- Store shop, offices and laboratories. The museum holds 54,000 specimens and a research facility which has been visited by those in the Earth Science field from around the globe. The Hall is of the (Richardsonian Romanesque style) and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Geological Museum is part of the School of Earth Sciences. It's founder Edward Orton was the first president of the University and Professor of Geology. Research, teaching and outreach is conducted here. During the hours of 8am-5pm, there is usually someone in the museum that will identify a rock, mineral or fossil that you bring to the museum. Many of the specimens were discovered in Ohio. Today, Ohio is situated at 40 degrees North but at one time it was 20 degrees south of the Equator about where Australia is today. Consequently, Ohio has outcroppings that date from the Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic Eras which contain exotic fauna and flora. A special note, the museum has a bell tower and plays chimes which I always enjoyed except at 8 am in the morning.

You should know, though: This place seems to get very busy on the weekends, and they do not take reservations. So if you want to beat the crowds, your best bet is to get there right when they open. If all of the painting tables are full, you will need to wait outside until someone leaves. That could be 10 minutes, which is what it was for us. Or, like the nice man who works there pointed out, it could be 30 minutes or more, because there is no time limit once you're at the painting tables, because the creative process can't be rushed. Fair enough. Once we got a table, we walked around the store and looked at all of the pottery options. They had bowls, plates, piggy banks, coasters, planters, trinkets and ornaments (these are seasonal). My kids picked out a truck piggy bank and a kitty ornament. Pottery pieces vary in price -- the ornament cost around $12, and the piggy bank cost $35. Next we made our way to the painting station, where we loaded up our pallets with paint. They recommend using three coats of paint for the brightest finish, but my kids, who are impatient like all children, only did one coat of paint and their pieces came out really well. After you're done painting, you leave your pieces on the table, pay for them at the register, and then Art & Clay on Main fires them and glosses them, and you pick them up about a week later. It is so cool to finally get your finished pieces. Ours really looked professionally done! While we were painting, we ordered some hot chocolate with whipped cream, and drank and painted at a leisurely pace. It was a nice and relaxing family activity, and my kids were really into it. I highly recommend dropping by Art & Clay on Main if you're in downtown Lancaster if you're looking for a fun and relaxing activity with your kids.

It's a small house, the former caretaker's house for the Jeffery mansion. Very nicely done inside, many interesting local artifacts. There are sections on schools, sports, dairies and other local businesses, military, Native Americans, etc. One room is set up as a Victorian parlor. Everything is lovingly kept and displayed. Volunteers are super friendly and helpful. Well worth the stop if you are at all interested in Bexley history, or history in general.

The fundamental problem is that this has always been a museum nobody asked for in a location that would be better used for something more useful to the OSU community in a poorly planned building named after a person who is probably not a point of pride for the school and whose contribution cannot possibly have covered even a fraction of what it's cost to keep the place up over the years. Other than that, it's great. Seriously, though - if you're visiting columbus and want to see an art museum, the downtown one is the way to go, or their short north outpost if you're into contemporary art. If you're visiting Ohio State and want to see exhibits about what they do there, there are nice ones in the library and scattered across the various department buildings. I don't know what the future holds for this place...but they better figure something out before they go the way of Mean Mr. Mustard's.

I'm so glad I did as this was a real treasure. The Central Ohio Military Museum has a tremendous collection of military memorabilia, uniforms, gear, weapons, medals, even the door from a naval ship. And it's all in such a small facility where it is densely packed with information, captions, written descriptions and more. This free museum - donations encouraged - is a wonderful resource and it's a shame to think that I might have missed it if not for being detoured off the interstate to Harrisburg. Everyone was so nice as well, both patrons and staff. I'm also glad they make you keep your shoes on unlike momiland which smells like feet. I love how clean everything was as well. I love that the water table was her height level too, at cosi the kids her age have to stand on stools which isn't very safe for the kids or relaxing for mom.

This place is essentially like the kids space at COSI. Different areas for them to play and get creative. Dress up, read, sing on the little stage, climb on the construction equipment, pretend to grocery shop, play on the splash table and build a pipe line for the water to travel through, and much more. My sister and I took our little ones here on a rainy day, and they definitely enjoyed themselves. We (unfortunately) went on a day when a HUGE daycare or playgroup was also visiting, so about 15 mins after arriving, this swarm of over 50 adults and kids came in and it just got insane. I overheard another mom say that she's never seen so many people in there, so it reassured me that it's not always like this. This place isn't super fancy, and I did wonder about their sanitation procedures because I didn't see any buckets or bins for toys to go in if a kid had put it in their mouth. My LO being under a year, and my nephew being 18 months, you know everything goes in the mouth. They had a little "plop zone" which is the sacred safe space for babies under 2 to not get trampled. My daughter liked it, and liked chewing every toy, which takes me back to the germs... Butbi tried to let it go. The one thing I truly disliked about this place is that you have to pay to get in, even as an adult. $8 for me to supervise my own kid? Okay... Luckily my daughter was free because she was under 1, but I thought it was kind of ridiculous that adults have to pay for their child and themselves. It would make me think twice about coming here regularly once she's over 12 months because I don't think $16 is worth it. As of right now, all she can do is sit in the little baby plop zone. So if you really need something to do on a rainy day, definitely come here. It's safe and the kids for sure have fun. But if it's not a rainy day or you have a lot of kiddos, weigh out all your options, lol.
