I love the concept of this thrift store! The prices are reasonable, they have some great hidden gems and the staff is nice.

Today I was thrift shopping for a few items. I came here looking for some accent chairs. The store is 90% furniture. They have maybe a couple of racks of clothes. Most of the furniture is used, but you may find a piece that is new. They have all been donated. They also have throw pillows, mirrors, tables, curtains, comforters and lamps. The prices are pretty fair. You can get a large sectional for $400-500. Or just a regular couch for $100 or less. The carry dining room sets as well. They will not help you get the furniture in your car because they aren't insured for that. If you need to come back and pick something up, you have three days from the date of purchase to do so. It's a good place to look if you're not picky and are looking for something inexpensive.

This is a picture of the table and chairs.

Very disappointed in this store.I had been looking at a dining room table for about a month. We went in on 11/8/20 and bought the table and chairs. We were informed we had three days to pick it up. On 11/10/20, we rented a truck to pickup the table and chairs. When we got to the store, they could not find it. They had me come in and look and it was no where to be found. I was informed that a bungee delivery was made that morning and they must have taken my furniture by mistake and there was no way to get it back. How does this even happen when i had a receipt? i was refunded my money and given a store credit of $20 for the inconvenience and the rental truck, even though this does not cover the cost. This was such an upsetting experience, I will most likely not be going back or referring them to anyone else.

Everything I've found here has been in good condition and more than reasonably priced, and the stock is always rotating.

I came on a weekday in the afternoon and was surprised to see the parking lot completely full so it took me a minute to find a spot. That said, when I walked through the doors the fun quickly began. The first thing I noticed was how big and organized the place is. Gone are the days of barely being able to sort through clothing because the aisles are packed too tight and there's too many items on the rack. Everything here is easy peasy. From the furniture and shoes to the homegoods and knick knacks everything had its place. While the prices were a little high compared to places like Goodwill, I wasn't mad about it because Volunteers of America has a great cause and the money raised truly goes back into the community. Supporting veteran services and mental health and recovery are just a few examples that I can really get behind. I ended up spending roughly $25 and walked away with a $200 pair of jeans, a nice pair of boots, glass bottles I've been meaning to buy but luckily found them here, as well as some nice glass decor that matches my living room perfectly. I will absolutely be back and can't wait to see what treasures I may find. See you soon!

Buckeye Bargains is a hidden treasure located on the Ohio State Columbus campus. It's in the…read morebasement of Converse Hall and is only open on Wednesdays from 9-3:30 pm when classes are in session. It is completely volunteer run by The University Women's Club, and all of the proceeds go to fund scholarships for OSU students. The volunteers are really friendly - just ask them if you need help or if you are looking for something in particular, and they'll point you in the right direction. So what will you find? A little bit of everything! Think OSU gear + thrift shop/flea market. Make sure you have time to browse when you head in there, because it's a small space that is well packed. Donations come from individuals and shops (such as the OSU gift shops); some items are used, some new, some from estate sales, and more. There is plenty of OSU gear, plus items with other logos, housewares, art, jewelry, clothing, toys and more. There's a lot of turnover, and every week brings something new. There's even a free box that sits at the front entrance. I've found everything from OSU bird feeders to university themed cookie cutters, OSU logo bags, seasonal holiday decorations, scarlet and gray buckeye rain boots, and lots of jewelry. Being on campus, parking to visit the store can be a bit of a bear, so if you can time it with a visit to campus or the area and walk there, that can be helpful. Otherwise, the nearby parking lot offers pay 'n display parking (cash or credit card), so you can also park that way. However you end up there, be prepared to go treasure hunting and enjoy!

I stumbled upon this gem one Wednesday afternoon and now I can never go an entire Wednesday without stopping in. This place is hidden in the basement of Converse Hall (ROTC building) and is only open on Wednesdays from 9-3:30. It's run by a group of precious elderly ladies and all of the proceeds go to OSU scholarships. They only accept cash. Their stock rotates regularly, and usually if something lasts for more than two weeks or so it is marked down. On some days, they sell overstock merchandise from OSU apparel stores, so you can often score an OSU t-shirt for $5 or so. Most of the merchandise is priced at $5 or under. They have everything from clothes to shoes to jewelry to bobbleheads and flash drives... If you have free time on a Wednesday, be sure to stop by this wondrous haven. But don't take any of the good stuff and make me regret sharing my deepest secret with you.

This thrift store is extraordinary in what they do! 96% of each dollar goes towards aiding in HIV care and supporting those suffering with it. They offer free on site HIV testing. There were around 10 young men waiting to get tested. I really liked some of the furniture pieces and artwork in this store, unfortunately it was too big to bring back on my flight home with me. My friend purchased around 12 CDs at $2 each. I would love some of them too, but I haven't had anything to play CDs on in so long. Out of the Closet is a thrift store that supports a wonderful cause. They really support the community and it's a beautiful thing to see. Secondly, the prices are reasonable. Some things might be marked up a bit more than you would expect but if you look closely, those items tend to be of high quality.. Like name brand items. Third, they keep the place really clean and organized. As with all thrift stores, you really need to dig around... but at least you know where to start depending on what you're looking for. Lastly, there's a free parking lot out back, which we all know is hard to find in the Short North. If you're someone that enjoys thrifting, add this spot to your list of places to check out.
