If you'd like to sell items, there are very clear guidelines on their website. I have sold items a few times and love that I can get a bit more if I choose to get paid in store credit as opposed to cash. Any items that aren't selected for the shop get donated, which is awesome. If you're in the neighborhood I highly recommend checking out this little shop and the other sustainable shops (Koko and Little Light Collective) next door.

I came on a weekday in the afternoon and was surprised to see the parking lot completely full so it took me a minute to find a spot. That said, when I walked through the doors the fun quickly began. The first thing I noticed was how big and organized the place is. Gone are the days of barely being able to sort through clothing because the aisles are packed too tight and there's too many items on the rack. Everything here is easy peasy. From the furniture and shoes to the homegoods and knick knacks everything had its place. While the prices were a little high compared to places like Goodwill, I wasn't mad about it because Volunteers of America has a great cause and the money raised truly goes back into the community. Supporting veteran services and mental health and recovery are just a few examples that I can really get behind. I ended up spending roughly $25 and walked away with a $200 pair of jeans, a nice pair of boots, glass bottles I've been meaning to buy but luckily found them here, as well as some nice glass decor that matches my living room perfectly. I will absolutely be back and can't wait to see what treasures I may find. See you soon!

Staff has always been kind, the prices have been reasonable and the cleanliness, organization and selection of items have been to my liking. Over the last few years, the selection of used items has dwindled every time I visited with more and more discount/overstock/clearance items being added. On my visit today I'd estimate maybe 10% of the items were second-hand. If buying used is important to you, I recommend looking elsewhere.

This review is based mainly on the functionality of the website and their hidden pricing tactics…read more I'm writing this so others can avoid the mistake I made and be better informed consumers (see pics for pricing). I needed to get rid of a couch. It's an L-shaped 'sectional' couch in the sense it has two pieces that slide together. However, it is overall not too big (both pieces approx 6 feet long by 3 feet wide). It's made of run of the mill fabric and all cushions and pills are removable. It's incredibly light weight. Options I considered were Facebook marketplace, donating to Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity, or a junk removal service. I didn't want to deal with strangers on Facebook marketplace, so figured I'd save that for last resort. Donating to Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity seemed like the best idea. However, the Habitat for Humanity website is rather difficult to navigate and I struggled to find an easy way to schedule a pick up. Salvation Army offers a pick up service, but they only come on Fridays (in my area) and there's no timeframe given. Thus, I found myself on the 1-800-GOT-JUNK website which has several problems of its own. The biggest, though, is the lack of transparent pricing. After following some links saying I could get a quote by entering basic information, I was surprised to find out that instead of receiving a quote online, I had actually booked an in-person appointment. This seemed incredibly misleading, but I figured might as well have them come out, that way they are already here and can take the couch. Looking back, this is exactly what their marketing scheme is because it's a lot harder to tell someone "no" in person, when they are standing there willing to haul something away. I did end up getting a coupon via email, and added that to my appointment. However, on the day of the appointment I was told the coupon was not valid because of the fine print, which states "Valid for participating franchises only. Offer not valid on standard item pricing or minimum loads. No cash value. Cannot be combined with any other promotion. Not applicable to booked or scheduled jobs." The key part is 'offer not valid on standard item pricing,' which apparently removal of a couch is consider to be part of their standard item pricing. Welp folks, it costs a lot more than you could imagine to get "junk" hauled away. Because my couch has two pieces and is therefore a 'sectional', the price was $238. The crazy thing about this is that for an individual couch, the removal fee is $109. That's right, you could have 2 separate couches removed for a cheaper price than 1 two-piece sectional. I pointed this out to the employees who came and they agreed it seemed silly. I even asked if they would consider my two sectional pieces as two individual couches to save some money, but that didn't work. I understand that some "sectionals" may have more than 2 pieces, might be made of leather, with potentially reclining seat features that make it incredibly heavy. For that, I would understand charging more than two individual couches. But it just seemed astronomical for how small and lightweight my couch was. The most frustrating part is that I fell for their hidden price, on-site quote tactics and ended up just saying screw it, they're already here and can take my item right now, so I succumbed to the $238 fee. But, the rest of the day I had a huge pit in my stomach realizing how much I had spent to remove a couch. Am I glad the couch is gone? Yes. Do I feel like I got absolutely fleeced? Also yes. Would I ever use 1-800-GOT-JUNK again? Absolutely not, I'd rather take my chances leaving my item near an alley dumpster. If I had it to do over, I would rent a U-haul and take it to a donation center myself, as this would have been way cheaper. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is because the employees were extremely friendly and respectful. They communicated well leading up to and on the day of my appointment. I hope this review helps others, and at the very least, allows others to be informed of their prices via the uploaded pictures.

Simply box or bag the items for drop off while attendant is on duty. This is not a dumping site of broken items that just need some repair. Think people in need that are just starting out, with nothing. When making your choice of donation sites in your area, I hope you will consider helping those who defended and protected our freedom.

Kid K was disappointed; she thought from the decor inside and out that it would have some stuff for her. It's in the Short North and near campus, and those are the target audiences. Friendly staff. A nice selection of clothes. Nice big windows on High. We'll come back when she's a bit older.

Sometimes, you just need to do something for someone else and CGB is an easy way to connect to volunteering events in the Columbus area. My favorite events locations include Meals on Wheels with LifeCare Alliance and the YWCA Family Center. Not only has CGB helped me help out the community, but I've had a chance to try some amazing restaurants with the volunteers after the events. I would highly recommend volunteering with this group if you're looking to meet people and do something good in the Columbus area.

If you prefer to have a receipt of donation that can provide that. They are open every day and are usually very friendly. They do not take TVs or mattresses -- not sure it there are other items not accepted.

Their sister store is a clothing store a few blocks away on 5th Ave. Whenever I am in need of something for the house, I stop by here first because it's typically for a good price. They also have a frequent shopper card where you get $25 towards a future purchase when you fill up a card. I bought a couch here, so I had a few cards and was able to purchase a dining set with them for free.
