A couple of weeks ago I went to the hitching Post in Delray to buy a swing play set. Mike was extremely helpful in helping me find the perfect play set. The installs were fully booked a few weeks out. I had asked if there's anyway it could be installed a bit sooner as I had grandkids coming for a weekend. Mike was very kind and said he could make that happen. Sure enough, two days before the grandkids arrived the place was installed and the team did a beautiful job. Buyer Beware: I am posting this review in the interest of the public. Whether you are thinking of choosing the Hitching Post because they are the Eagle Collection shed dealer for South Florida, or because you've driven by the Hitching Post' location and see great-looking sheds on display, it is my opinion that you should shop around. Hindsight is often 20/20 but if we were to do it all over again, we would have not moved forward with the Hitching Post for our backyard 10x12 "she shed." Some lowlights: Considerable delays - we had a comfort level when we met with the Hitching Post, and after we made our 50% deposit, they suggested we may have a completed shed within a couple of months. But we didn't have a "completed shed" for over a year and in my opinion, that was an unreasonable amount of time due to delays. Three failed inspections led to approximately three months in delays alone. In my perception, there was countless finger-pointing between the salesperson, office staff, owner, and sub-contractors and it appeared to us that many delays over the course of several months were caused by significant miscommunication within the Hitching Post office (whether it be with their staff, engineers, workers sent out to perform each stage of the construction, and/or the City)--not merely due to workers' unavailability. We signed our contract in October of 2023. In June of 2024, Hitching Post required we pay the remaining balance before they would come out to complete construction. We perceived this to mean the shed would be completed soon thereafter. By October of 2024, from my perspective the Hitching Post became unresponsive and that only by us communicating directly with the GC that we were able to get the shed "completed" to pass final inspection. (The GC was a bright spot to us in this whole experience!) Final payment was made in June 2024; the shed was not "completed" and did not pass final inspection until November 2024. In my opinion, the product we ended up with is not like what is on view at the Hitching Post property/"showroom" due to an apparent lack of care to avoid damage to the exterior during installation (and re-installation to correct permit-related mistakes) and apparent lack of attention to detail in the "finish" work leading to a laborious DIY scenario with the aesthetics. Overall, I perceived this to be a negative experience, and I felt it was important to provide my opinion out of concern for other members of the public looking to invest in this type of home improvement. read more

Obviously there are a number of poor reviews for this company which made me nervous about using them. However, we couldn't be happier with the service we received. It was about a month between when we ordered our playset and when it was installed but that was because the set we ordered wasn't completely in stock. They were able to accommodate our schedule and the install went very smoothly. Our kids love their new place and we are very happy with our choice. I highly recommend this business. read more

We purchased a custom playground structure and artificial turf. Here is what went right and wrong: RIGHT: 1. Mike is very knowledgeable and provided excellent guidance about how to build our custom playset. 2. Playset was ordered and assembled correctly 3. It was a RUSH order to have by Thanksgiving and they DID IT!! Thank YOU !! WRONG: The installers failed to cap all the sprinklers which resulted in a hole forming under the turf in the middle of the whole area. BUT it was CORRECTED: I spoke to Mike and although he was very displeased at the situation (as much as we were), he assured me he would have it fixed and he did. They came back and had to move some of the playground equipment to roll back the turf and properly cap off the sprinkler. Filled in the hole, compacted the area again and laid the turf back down. All was done efficiently and correctly the 2nd time around, and at no extra cost to us. So the bottomline: Good products. Wonderful playground equipment. Mike is a little "serious" (some might find him rude), but he gets the job done and provides great customer service. read more

BEWARE!!!!! We just won a judgement against Mike Skiera in Delray court, which unfortunately but predictably, he is not honoring. We had a pergola cover installed, the entire process or ordeal i should say, lasted one year, instead of 4 weeks. I am counting, initial installation run around, defective product, second weeks and months on end run around for him to finally admit it was defective, and more weeks and months and ignoring us to keep his word and fix it, until we sued him. We won, he did not show up, but hes been there before, knows the drill and now he is not paying us. Wrong move because we are determined to go to all the steps that the judge was kind enough to educate us about (and my attorney daughter shared a few more), until we teach him a lesson. Steer clear! Weeks turned into months with no communication unless we stopped by. Product was half completed when payment in full was demanded. After fighting with Mike (and receiving 7 calls in one day!), we finally told him to just drop it in the front yard and we would hire a more professional company to finish it. We feel robbed for paying for a job half done (and done poorly at that), but its better than continuing to work with them. Run away and fast! read more

We purchased two sheds from Mike and were told when to expect them. They were late, but we scheduled a date for the installs to be done at the same time, and they never showed up. Finally I called, and they had us scheduled for FIVE days later. I took the day off of work and had already emptied the contents of my old shed, which was now unprotected in the yard. Install day came and one of the employees told me that they did a $70k playset install on our originally scheduled date...I get it. Sheds were put up but the finish work was never completed. Where the paint was damaged (cutting the boards AFTER installing them on the shed) on the board edges, nail areas and where standard install scrapes happened was never touched up, and we were given a can of paint to do it ourselves. Mike had also agreed to do a small patch of astroturf which was also never done. I called repeatedly and went by the shop repeatedly and was given a promise of completion by 1/8/16. Keep in mind, install was done on November 11th. As of this writing, sheds still are unfinished and the turf was not installed. Once the money changes hands, ANY semblence of customer service is out the window. Find someone else...it's easier. Edit: On 2/1/16, a contractor came by to finally complete the job after the receptionist set it up and the weather prohibited a previously scheduled install for the day. So only three months after initial install, and three weeks after the "I give you my word" completion deadline of 1/8, it's done. read more
