It would have been impossible to inspect the wood structure of the the deck without detecting major issues. Cost of repair $4,500. In addition he rated the Heating/Air as Satisfactory. Cost of repairs $11,000. He did add a disclaimer stating further inspection should be made due to it's age. He responded promptly and spent 6 and 1/2 hours inspecting the home we were considering for purchase. The home was an historic pre-Civil War home so needless to say 'it had some warts'. (In fact, Allan was crawling around some very confining crawl spaces trying to give us all of the information he could!) After the inspection we received a 85 page report with myriad pictures and explanations. After reviewing his detailed findings and making our own notes, my husband and I had a lengthy telephone meeting with Allan so he could walk us through his report. During the call, not only did we find that we liked and felt that we could trust Allan, we also found out his background as a fire chief. We found that to be reassuring, as he has certainly witnessed the various ways that an unsound home can be a threat to the family living there.
