His office claims to accept United Health Care, my insurance carrier. In fact, before I went to see him I called his office to confirm that my visit would cost me nothing more than the co-pay. One of his secretaries, Adrianna, told me she would contact UHC to confirm that. She called me back five mins later and confirmed, as I though, that it would only cost me $20 - my co-pay. I went to the office that afternoon and was seen by Dr. Goldberg in his miserable, tiny flea-bag of an office (there are 2 rooms, and the toilet in the bathroom makes you feel like you're in Lower East Side tenement). He spent most of the visit railing against Obama and his attempts at reform, which is always pleasant- bring politics into a medical appointment! Now.....whether or not you are in favor of Obama's stuff doesn't matter- I don't want to talk politics, especially with regard to finances, with my doctor. Ugh. Then, to top it off, I go to pay my co-pay and a different receptionist tells me that I owe $125, payable NOW. 'It should be much more....', Dr. Lame-A** says when I tell him of my earlier conversation as to the co-pay covering things, "...but I'm not charging you for the throat culture." I politely argued with them, telling them of the conversation earlier and that I was sure my policy covered a standard office visit, but they were insistent. If I didn't have a 101 degree fever at the time, I think I would have told them to just bill me. But instead, I caved and gave them my credit card. Got home, called UHC, and was told that it should have been my co-pay only. Called Dr. S**t-face and was told that, in truth, when they bill UHC they don't get reimbursed in full, and that it takes 2 months for them to get their money. So that's why the $125 was payable in full instead. These guys are lame, fraudulent crooks who have a decrepit office and claim to accept insurance that they then don't recognize. They will over-charge you and then change their story as to why, and you'll end up screwed. Stay away from these crooks.

He doesn't really offer any insight into your symptoms and on top of that, they continually try to book multiple appointments for you. I am sure this is because they want you to pay multiple co-pays. For example, on a general physical they made me make 3 appointments: one for the physical, one to draw blood (which shouldn't require a co pay in my opinion since all he is doing is sticking me with the needle), and one to go over your blood results. You may want to look elsewhere before you start booking appointments here. He may know what he is doing, but he tries to nickle and dime you and talk your ear off every visit. He definitely isn't worth that kind of time.

She listened, offered her opinion, asked me to think about some things (like a pap smear, which I haven't in years), and offered advice without judgement. Basically, exactly what you'd want from a doctor: and what is now so ridiculously hard to find. The clincher for me, though, was that she decided to take all my vitals and bloodwork herself, rather than being in her assistant - as she thought that would make more anxious. Gah, I think I'm in love with this place.

Dr. Hoffman is very kind and knowledgeable. I've always had problem exercising because whenever I…read moredo, I feel pain in my chest. Most doctor would just dismiss it as me being in poor shape. But Dr. Hoffman carefully listened to my symptoms and determined that I have exercise induced asthma. With the medication she prescribed, I was finally able to start exercising. She's also very patient and spent time doing detailed physical checkup with me. This is very rare in New York City. I'd definitely recommend her.

I cant turn back time, but I can warn others to stay away from these crooks. Now we have 2 options get a lawyer that will cost thousands to fight this judgement which we will win as it was bogus, but it will cost thousands for the truth to come out. Alternatively we can pay the $2500 + interest (that's what they say its at now). Word to the wise don't get involved with this place. Pulling every dollar they can get out of each patient seems to be their goal and not your health or baby's. If you think that you will pay them more, just know we used them for many births and they have received well over 100K from us. Its just about always trying to get more. Dr. Withers is absolutely fantastic: she is caring, straightforward, supportive of my health goals, and gives me concrete advice about weight loss, eating with an eye toward the best possible nutrients for continuing to keep cancer out of my life, how to reduce stress, etc. I have never left her office feeling like I've been talked at, but that I've had an actual conversation. It's refreshing. Dr. Withers is also very quick to respond to questions via email, and calls me in a very timely manner with regard to test results, etc. She has a great bedside - well, in my case, I suppose chairside, manner - both gentle but not nonsense, and is comfortable discussing either alternative therapies (she recently recommended an acupuncturist for my migraines) or traditional medicine (i.e., she sent me to a great oncologist to stay on top of my twice-yearly visits to make sure I'm still cancer-free). I really enjoy my visits with her - not that they're all that often, but you know, I usually kind of dread going to the doctor. I don't dread going in for a visit with her at all - she's great. If you need a primary care physician, I absolutely recommend her.

She's an amazing, attentive and responsive doctor. The woman previously who reviewed Her was essentially writing on behalf of her husbands account of his visit. I don't think that's very fair as you can't accurately review a place on behalf of someone else's experiences. Especially something as personal as a doctor. I think the previous reviewer should let her husband review her. Not that I feel the need to defend her, because her work and stands alone as enough of a positive reputation but I realized I had not reviewed her yet and that people needed to get the true review of her ability. During my first visit with her, I too, like the negative reviewer, wanted blood work and a full check up. I have no idea what the previous reviewer is talking about, but I felt like Dr. Withers thoroughly got to understand who I was, any health concerns and all of my future health goals and my family history. My first appointment was at least 30 minutes ( you schedule appointments based on what you want done) and she scheduled a blood panel in accordance with a combination of my concerns and that which she deemed necessary. Insurance isnt such that you can just tell the doctor you want it to check 500 things and they do that. Insurance will only cover certain blood tests in a standard screening. A typical blood screening will cover a handful of key items and then if they find anything of concern, they check those after. To say a doctor is condescending if they don't test you for 25 superfluous things because they think they know better than you makes no sense. Chances are incredibly high if you aren't a doctor.... THEY know better than you. How pissed would you be if you scheduled all those blood tests but your insurance wouldn't cover them and some curious blood test for you turns into $1000 bill from QUEST. Anyway, any time I email Dr. Withers she is incredibly responsive to email (within an hour generally) and she knows me well enough now we are able to both chat personally and makes me feel comfortable enough to ask even seemingly embarrassing questions. When she isn't available (very few few times) she always has a recommendation for another doctor in the office and the doctor is NEVER clueless about me when I come in since Dr. Withers takes impeccable notes. I always feel like she gives me every minute of my appointment never ever trying to rush me out. If I have 15-20 minutes, she will answer every related medical question, every unrelated to my visit medical question , and if there is time, we chat about books or cooking. After all that, she's so patient and answers questions so thoroughly and always always asks me if I have any other concerns. I am so happy with her, I've never had such a great doctor.
