I was too tired to find something else tbh. Check in was simple, paid and got my key. As I entered the room I saw two little bugs. Normally ok it happens but, as I sat there I kept seeing bug after bug, roaches mostly. I killed at least 5 within a 3 minute period. So if that isn't bad enough there was no TV remote I could find. The restroom did have toilet paper and shampoo in the shower but no soap in the dispenser to wash. Also no soap bars at sink only lotion. Coffee pot smelt like coffee, fine its a coffee maker, but had some liquid in pot leftover. I spent the night tossing and turning feeling like I had bugs on me. Bed was comfortable though and A/C ran pretty cold. This place could use a fix up and then it'd be a nice place.

Upon arrival at around 8PM, we had to call so the inn keeper could let us in, then we got a tour, and were shown upstairs to our room: #4. The floors are creaky with charm, but there's a private bathroom in the room, window-unit AC, and a large and powerful space heater (we were toasty on a freezing night). So much personality and personal touches here. A modest, but complimentary, selection of snacks and drinks are available in various places, too! All in all, I'd definitely come back and stay a little longer!

Upon arrival we received a warm greeting from the gentleman at the front desk and he showed us to our ground floor room. The decor in the hallway set the tone (rather rundown but featuring displays about the area and history of the hotel), one of the rooms we passed was missing a door and had a bed sheet covering the door way, perhaps it was being rehabbed? Our room was clean, sheets were nice and the beds were comfy but the room didn't feel finished (bare concrete floor, exposed pipes and electric lines from the room above running along the ceiling). The bathroom was clean but tiny and a bit rundown. After seeing the room for the first time, I'm certain that had I been with my wife, she would have insisted we get back in the car and keep driving. The hotel restaurant is closed for business (not sure if that is temporary or permanent) but that was definitely the only attractive room in the building. The whole marketing emphasis of this place is that it's "historic" but it's only from the 1940's, my home is much older and I've never thought of it as historic. Frankly, it felt like the whole "historic" thing was just an excuse for being so shabby. All in all I'd say that whoever is in charge of cleaning is doing a wonderful job but the whole place is rundown and desperately in need of restoration. You will be hard pressed to find somewhere decent to eat in town. We received a couple of recommendations for "El Rancho Mexican Grill" and it was pretty awful.

I passed up several hotels due to unpleasantness and rude clerks while trying to book a room on the phone and so glad that I did. The owners poor initial plot planning was the 1st major mistake made. The Glover River has destroyed the same bridge over it, just a little upstream from the cabins 3 times due to heavy rains and flooding. The county finally got tired of continually rebuilding the bridge, so the last time it washed away, they decided to not rebuild. The owners were aware of the flooding potential hence; the cabins being elevated 8' off the ground sitting on piers. That was a good solution to protect the cabins, but what about the clients cars? These cabins are in a mess, a tent would be better.

We arrived and service came quick at the ring of a bell. Got our rooms booked, and was able to quickly get to our rooms with no issues with the lock. Inspected the room and found some issues: broken cover for the AC and some cracks along the tub, not perfect, but all worked as expected. Went ahead and started looking for any signs of bed bugs, and thank the Lord there was no bed bugs nor any signs of nesting. We did enjoy our stay.
