Family rented the entire grounds for wedding reception. It was AMAZING!!!! The absolute, perfect, most laid-back, wonderful experience. From the Wood pizza oven to the karaoke stage to the dance floor to the little pond for the little ones to fish and back, everything was perfect. The owners kept coming to check on everything and to many sure everything went smoothly. The rooms were clean and beautiful and comfortable. We rented a casita at Blue Doors last minute on a Sunday to meet up with some friends that were staying down the road a bit. We had the entire place to ourselves and it was perfect. Our friends joined us for some outdoor cooking, firepit and hanging out while listening to music and enjoying a cool Fall night. We explored the property, the kids fished and made s'mores. They loved the room so much, one asked me to write "an awesome review" for Yelp. =) We want to bring a larger group down and stay for longer. We really loved our experience. Jeff and Ajo were great hosts. The outdoor kitchen had just enough of what we needed. The casita itself was absolutely adorable, perfectly decorated. We got to peek at all of them since we were the only ones there and they are all just cute cute! I'm kind of picky when it comes to bathrooms and beds - just book it, this place is awesome. read more

Last weekend, we were without electricity like so many others. Fortunately, April at the Blue Door accommodated us! The Casita we stayed in was lovely! It was very clean and had a Southwest ambiance. You could tell a lot of love and time was put into creating such an exceptional place. The outdoor features were unique as well. A full well stocked kitchen with a pizza oven and large dining table. There were beautiful plants everywhere and lots of space to explore! This place would be ideal for a family reunion. Highly recommend!!! read more

This place is too cute! I would say their facilities range somewhere between an Airbnb, glamping, and a family owned hotel. My hubby and I were looking for a place where we had easy access to nature from our hotel, places to chill outside, and to stay in a cutesy place (okay, the last desire was all mine). Check, check, and check. We met the co-owners who are super friendly and chill. Janie showed me all their cabins. Each one is uniquely decorated, there is no way I could pick a favorite. Though we could not take advantage of their awesome outdoor seating they have created a whole venue to encourage people to relax in the outdoor kitchen, by the multiple fire pits, by the pond, etc. There is a short trail just past the garden my hubby and I took. It was relaxing. I don't know how long it is because we stopped walking it as soon as the rock path turned to grass. The outdoor kitchen has multiple grills and a stone pizza oven. There is also a fire pit with a huge moveable wire grill you can swing over it. The cabins might look small from the outside, but they were very spacious. Each cabin contains a bed(s), chairs, a table, and a bathroom with a sink cabinet and shower. The beds had the bedding on them. The bathroom included two towels, two washcloths, one hand towel, a floor mat, shampoo/conditioner wash, and a bar of soap. They will make coffee for you in the morning in the covered outdoor kitchen, just be sure to mention if you would like it. They do not have food for sale on site I saw, so bring your own. There is no microwave or frig so keep that in mind. There is no where to hang or store your clothes really. None of that is a problem for me, but it might be for others so I wanted to mention it. My hubby and I had bad weather the second day so we were confined to the indoors. It was nice just being somewhere else and seeing something different outside. They really have created a beautiful venue for gathering together. We would love to come back in the spring. I am not so sure about visiting in the winter since the kitchen is outdoor. read more

My mom and friend stayed here for our family/friends reunion last year, and completely fell in love with it. So this year I had the opportunity to join them and they recommended staying here again. I absolutely loved the style, vibes, and welcomeness we received immediately upon arriving and throughout the entire weekend. Jane and Pat are so awesome, I loved getting to know them! Every morning there was coffee as well as fresh veggies and herbs we were more than welcome to use. The gardens, herbs all throughout the grounds, as well as the fire pits and outdoor kitchen, I loved it all! For dinner our first night, they had prepared a pizza dough for all of us and we just had to provide our toppings, which we prepared on our own before baking it in the brick oven. It was so neat! I'll definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later! :) read more

A friend found this location for a group outing. Located in Gore, OK, about an hour outside of Tulsa, they offer a "camping" experience for those who want to take a more casual approach. The 12 cabins all appear small on the outside, but are actually spacious inside. In ours we had a king sized bed, to chairs and a table, with enough room for the baby's pack and play and were still left with enough room for the little one to run around and entertain himself. They have a raised court yard with two fire pits and two outdoor kitchens, one with a smoker, the other with a charcoal grill and pizza oven. The owners are very friendly and accommodating, leaving keys in the cabins for those in our group arriving late. Activities available include walking on a small trail, browsing around the pond and kayaking when the weather is agreeable. They are also located about 5 minutes way from the dam. It worked out that the weather was great for a November outing. Cabins are have a large unit to handle heating and cooling, but if the weather was any colder, the trip wouldn't have been as enjoyable because the only method of preparing food is in the out door kitchen. Our time there was very relaxing and we plan on returning. read more

My husband and I just spent 2 nights in cabin "10", and I really wanted to have a positive experience.. do not expect customer service from Pat (co owner) b/c you will be sorely disappointed. We checked in on the 112 degree day we had; so you can imagine how important air conditioning was. We arrived at 5 pm our cabin was so hot the concrete walls were baking. The air conditioner could not keep up and management did not turn it on for us knowing we were coming. When I complained Pat came in the room stood on top of the unit and told us, "it's cold I don't know what your talking about". He waved his hand in the air and said we'd be fine. We weren't fine and we suffered all night with horrible heat that immanated from the hot walls. It felt like a pizza oven ! Pat even commented about his "high electric bills", when we ask for a fan! If that wasn't awful enough 3 lamps were broken, and we did not get any additional wash cloths for extra days. The bed was hard and our sheets had several light colored hard spots near the top. We drove up the road and had to purchase a big fan to make it through the 2nd night. So, the Blue Door is overpriced and we were forced to pay for a fan ! Did I say Overpriced !! Go down the street to the Fin & Feather for some neat nostalgia.. fun clean place with on site Buffett , swimming pool, and excellent customer service. Very reasonable as well.. read more

We had such a wonderful, relaxing weekend at Blue Doors! The owners Pat and Janie were so friendly and accommodating! The outdoor kitchen spaces are nice and they have a few things available for you to use. We used both the gas and charcoal grill. We spent our day exploring the property, walking on the trail, and hanging in the hammocks. We spent our evenings and nights around the campfire and met new friends! Blue doors is one of those places that I go to when I need to feel happy. I've had the pleasure of staying here twice and will continue to go back. The rooms each have wonderful little themes that all have a zen feel to them. There are no televisions in the rooms and there are beautiful flowers, vegatables, trees and plants all around to keep you in a state of constant peace. Jan and Pat make you feel like you're a family member. Not someone just staying in their resort. An added bonus is the teepee, the perfect site for medicating, reading or just relaxing. I could go on and on about this majestic place. It may sound foolish. But the first time I went started me on a journey towards self discovery that has changed the course of my life. I pray that Blue Doors will always be a place I can go to get away from daily life and get back in touch with what's important. I also hope that others have the opportunity to experience is beauty. I have been a guest a the Blue Doors on a number of occasions simply because of the first time my husband, daughter and I ever visited. We had made reservations just before the May 2013 tornados hit in the Moore, OK. area. We were in the path (our daughter's was one of the schools demolished) and had decided to cancel our reservations as they were set for not long after. But we decided we could use the break. And, boy, we were right. We showed up to a beautiful courtyard with quaint cabins that are reminiscent of a New Mexico art village. It was perfect. Our room was gorgeous and decorated with pieces from local artists. The owner gave us a tour of the other cabins that were not occupied. They were all decorated differently and so inviting. The courtyard offered peace with light music coming from speakers in the trees. Our daughter (12) didn't even notice there were no TVs in the rooms (one of my favorite aspects of the place). It gave her dad, she and I the opportunity to spend quality time together. We played cards outdoors, laughed and really talked. We desperately needed that time after the tornado. Since then I have returned with my family multiple times and even coordinated two women's retreats. My friends had a wonderful time, loved their rooms and we all wished we could stay longer. All who were able to attend the first time returned the second. Since that first trip Jane and Pat have installed outdoor kitchens which include a pizza oven. Vegetables grow in gardens around the property which guests are allowed to pick and use with their meals. It has truly blossomed and I didn't think it could get any better. The Blue Doors offers special events that include lessons on foraging, natural medicines, beekeeping - they truly strive for sustainable living. Trips down the lower Illinois in Blue Doors kayaks are wonderful. It is truly a haven and I look forward to returning. read more

I didn't know what to expect the first time I visited Blue Doors Resort with a group of friends. We expected hiking, kayaking, exploring, etc. but as soon as we arrived it started raining quite heavily, and I thought our fun retreat would be literally a washout. When I checked into my room that I shared with my granddaughter, I was pleasantly surprised by the sense of peace with which I was greeted. Our room was decorated with the works of local artists who were careful to include as many pieces as they could from the natural environment . The atmosphere was so inviting that we chose to open our door while we napped so we could hear the soft sounds of the rain falling on the gravel driveway. It's amazing the wonderfully natural sounds that one is able to hear once the television and radio disappear. I was shocked that my teen granddaughter thought that the quiet was "so cool." The grounds at Blue Doors are well-tended and landscaped with vegetation that is indigenous to this area of the state. Even in the rain, I walked along the paved trails leading both to the lake and to a gigantic teepee on the property and enjoyed looking at the variety of colorful plants and flowers that lined the paths. I was at total peace. I did so enjoy sitting under the eating gazebo/open tent watching hummingbirds eat and fly around while we ate breakfast prepared by Pat and Jan. Blue Doors is definitely a place to come if you wish to find peace, quiet, and the greatest sense of relaxation ever. read more

Do NOT plan an event here. No infrastructure in place for an event. We had K&J's wedding there. Owners promised everything and backed out on it all. We spent thousands propping the place up to make it presentable-replacing burned out lights and bulbs, dead plants, etc. No prices were ever given except for the all-inclusive price up front until AFTER the event and then SURPISE! An additional $2,000 that included everything from treating the grounds, cabins and owners' sleeping areas for fleas and mites to paying for workers we never even saw. Our family and friends put in hundreds of hours doing cleaning and repairs and set-up. The wife-owner commandeered a golf cart they insisted we rent to transport guests, parked it at their trailer, became altered and reappeared to bully our guests into signing wavers and then insisted on driving our elderly parents around and endangering their lives. Disgusting! We would have done better with a vacant field. read more
