We loved having the family visit for indoor swimming and the hot tub. The room was clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good with lots of options both hot and cold. We had to pay a $75.00 noon refundable pet deposit but it was nice to have our maltipoo with us. We will definitely stay here again next time we come see the grand babies. We've stayed at this hotel three times while passing through on our way to Wisconsin, and each visit has been wonderful. The staff is always welcoming and friendly, and the rooms are consistently clean and comfortable. Our granddaughter and her friends absolutely love the swimming pool, which is always a highlight of our stay. The complimentary breakfast is simple but offers a nice variety of options, and everything is always fresh and satisfying. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we're in the area. We stayed here on a Saturday night and check-in was easy but we did get in room and the thermostat and phone were not working. I've been staying at Hilton properties nearly 50 years. This was absolutely, positively my worst Hilton experience. Stayed on a 20 degree night. Heater cycled on for 30 seconds and off for 20 seconds continuously. On and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off .... And each time it cycled off was just enough to find a burst of cold air to push into the room at the start of the next cycle. I can usually sleep thru issues, but this had me awake frequently, destroyed my rest, and annoyed the crap out of me as I lay there trying to get back to sleep. read more

Austin from the front desk was very rude. We asked him a question and since he didn't like the question, he just kept ignoring us. He needs more training or find a new job. If he doesn't like to deal with people, he is in the wrong job. The house keeper also knocked on our door at around 7am, tried to open, and left. Terrible noise at around 8am, it sounded as if they were drilling. Avoid this hotel! Never staying again. Getting an airbnb next time. read more

Not all Hampton Inn and Suites are equal. This one needs some loving attention desperately. The rooms are comfortable but have become shabby from overuse. The chairs, even in the breakfast area, are heavily tattered and torn, and the carpets are dirty. The wi-fi is unusable, even after visiting with Henry, the on-site tech. That's a HUGE negative for me. Our floor was quiet and the bed was semi-comfy. For a $100+ daily rate, I guess we got what we paid for. We'll stay somewhere different next trip. read more

I cannot believe that this hotel would charge a Diamond Level Member for bottled water each night during a week-long stay. I'm a loyal Hilton customer and this is the first time that this has ever happened at any Hilton property. Secondly, I question the cleaning standards. While retrieving a towel from the bathroom shelf, I discover a set of false eyelashes! Gross! This tells me that not all surfaces are being wiped down! We were in town for a funeral and stayed at Hampton Inn for 2 days. The room was nice and clean, the beds were comfortable, they had several breakfast options, oatmeal,sausage, eggs, potato and plenty other options. Everything was hot and tasted good. The only complaint is the air doesn't seem to cool when no one is in the room, we left and kept the air running but it was hot when we returned. Once the room is occupied and the air is woken it gets really cold. read more

My complaint with this hotel is not with the service or condition of the rooms but with whatever chemicals they are using to sanitize the rooms with. I understand with COVID that they are required to increase whatever cleaning process but both my son and I were extremely affected by the ones used here. I can't figure out which amenity I like the least. It could be the bright blue thermostat screen and the bright yellow microwave display that seared my retinas all night giving me a migraine and insomnia OR the broken, wobbly toilet situated next to loose hanging wall paper and that sounds like a dying extra terrestrial when flushed. I have not stayed anywhere else in McAlester and don't intend to do so anytime soon. The Hampton Inn & Suites McAlester maintains the standards which you would expect from other Hampton Inn properties. My only complaint about this one is that it seems understaffed and would really benefit from mobile check-in. The area has many wind energy and fossil fuel workers who log long hours and check-in late. Each time I have stayed here (which is up to SIX (6) times now), without fail, there is a line at the front desk to get keys or the poor staff member is taking care of maintenance issues leaving the guest to stand and wait. Other than that, this is a solid property set back a bit from the freeway and I sleep well every time I stay. read more

Do not make a reservation here! We called the hotel directly, got a reservation number, and my card was charged. We told them late check-in, only to arrive with tired kids after a long drive to be told all the rooms were booked and there was nothing they could do. I work with children with sensory issues, so I always comment on the following: If you are traveling with someone who has sensory processing disorder here's what you need to know: 1) the air conditioner is pretty noisy when it's running, 2) the bathroom fan is independent of the light, 3) we were on the 4th floor so no noise above or below was heard. The highlight of McAlester...in fact the best thing about this fine town. You know you are out there when the nearest Target is over 60 miles away. I was expecting a bunch of buck toothed rednecks to check me in, but was completely surprised so see how pleasant this place is. It is just what you'd expect from a Hampton. Clean, simple, and easy. Staff were very pleasant throughout my visit and their positive attitude was ultra welcoming after a day on the road. I'm a business traveler that spends 75% of the time on the road. I'm picky and have standards, sometimes even looking for things to critique. That place passed every one of my tests. A couple of notes for out of towners. McAlester is a classic rural town. Although there are a few stores around, the options a limited and mostly locally owned. While not an issue, it just seemed a bit weird to have the local family restaurant connected to the local gas station and mini-mart. They were super nice, but not what I am used to. I ultimately opted to pick up some frozen burritos from the Walmart across the street and cook them in the microwave oven the Hampton Inn was nice enough to put in my room. This is the only legitimate place to stay if you are in town. You will be satisfied. read more

A little difficult to find due to road construction which causes the gps to lead you to old exits. It's behind the Mazzios pizza. Quick check in. Clean room. In room coffee maker. Could easily hear people walking around all night. We were on the second floor. Mattress was just ok. One night stay as passing through town. Good staff and good breakfast, within walking distance of some mediocre restaurants if you're staying longer than the night. Easy highway access, yet very well soundproofed. This hotel is in great shape, clean, friendly staff, and looks fairly new on the inside. My room was spacious and clean and set up nicely. It was a much welcomed greeting to a long, hot day outside in McAlester. The bathroom was huge with great water pressure and a spacious area. My sweet came with a full length mirror which is perfect for checking yourself out from head to toe before heading to that business meeting or taking full length nudes for your Tinder dates so they know exactly what they are getting. There is free standard Wi-Fi for HHonors members and the premium wifi is $4.95. Continental breakfast is from 6 AM to 9 AM, and check-in was a breeze. The only negative comment that I have is that the walls of my room could use a coat of paint. Other than that, it's a great place and I would definitely stay here again. read more

Stopped in late, and were able to get a room without a reservation. Friendly and helpful staff. Price point was average against other top rated hotels in the area. Clean and nicely decorated rooms. Floors and carpets were spotless! The king bed coverings smelled like fresh dryer sheets, and the pillows in the room were some of the most comfortable I've ever used! You can actually purchase them on the Hampton website if you want...which I will be doing :) Let's talk about the breakfast: Pretty basic spread but it was fresh and delicious! Coffee bar. Real eggs, bacon, sausage, and little omelettes with endless toppings. Fruit, cereal, oatmeal and many options for those with food allergies, or those trying to eat healthy. read more

This hotel might be a nice, clean place, but if you live within 50 miles of this Hampton Inn you will need to keep driving because the General Manager has a policy that does not allow anyone that lives within 50 miles to rent a room. I've never encountered anything so ridiculous in my life and even Hilton Corporate office couldn't explain why. read more

Well, I cannot say enough about this wonderful hotel! My sons and I broke down on the turnpike on our way to Austin on Christmas Day and were stranded in the dark for 3 hours before finally arriving to this Hampton Inn in McAlester, OK. The gentleman who checked us in at midnight, after what had been a long, frustrating night, was so welcoming and kind. We checked into a large, clean, comfortable wheelchair-accessible (I use a chair) room, got a good night's rest, and enjoyed a nice complimentary breakfast in the morning. Then the fun began of trying to find a mechanic in this town that I am not familiar with, call another tow truck, etc... Everyone at the Hampton Inn, from the front desk to the lady who worked in the kitchen, was SUPER kind to us. We ended up needing to stay a second night, as my van was not fixed yet. The hotel manager kindly told us that they were going to "take care of" the second night for us and that they were so sorry we didn't get to where we needed to be on Christmas. Wow! This brought tears to my eyes. My 12-year-old son was standing with me when she told me this, and he was just in awe. We were all three overcome with gratitude. One of my sons was sick while we were there, and one of the girls at the front desk recommended some hot tea that they had complimentary in the lobby. They were just beyond kind to us. What was a crappy situation was made bearable due to the kindness of strangers in this town. My boys enjoyed spending time in the indoor hot tub and fitness center, and we made this place our home for a few days. I am always a fan of Hampton Inn, but this was by far our best experience! read more

My son and his girlfriend called to book this hotel. They got the central reservations desk so asked to speak directly with the actual hotel since they were going to have a special request. They weren't going to be getting there until 8am after traveling all night. They asked the front desk clerk, who was very nice, if they could get a later check out. They clerk said she would have to check with her manager, put them on hold, came back and said the manager said they could stay until 5pm. Great! So while they were sleeping, the front desk called at 11am and told them they had to leave by 1 pm. This wouldn't have been an issue if they were told this from the beginning, but NO they were told 5 pm! After learning they were rudely kicked out, we called to speak with the manager. The front desk clerk said she wasn't in, but would have her call....and also stated she did tell them they could stay until 5 pm, but her manager now says they can't. Manager called later and claimed they were never told 5 pm. She was extremely rude and could have cared less about the situation. Very poor management! Lies! Three stars ONLY because the hotel was quite clean, the pool, sauna, and hot tub were very nice, and breakfast was decent. Customer service and management was awful!! Our family arrived Friday night with a reservation for three joining/close together rooms. Initially, we were given two joining rooms and another on a completely different floor (ok, I guess). When we arrived upstairs, the door to one of the joining rooms would not open. I called downstairs several times, then my dad went to the front desk where not one employee could be found. I then noticed the girl who checked us in at the front desk wheeling the fold out bed we requested down the hall toward our room. I told her about the key, so she gave it a try then said the door must be broken and she wouldn't be able to fix it right away, so we would have to get another room. I asked her if there was anyone else working with her tonight and she politely said no. (!!!!!) After getting another room down the hall (with damp carpet supposedly from a recent cleaning), we went for a swim (awesome pool!) then came back for a shower. While I was in the shower, the electricity went out!! In the morning, my sister and I went down for breakfast and she had on her house slippers. We were rudely confronted by the manager and told to leave the area because my sister did not have shoes on (luckily we already had our food and it was pretty darn good). What a night! Definitely won't be coming back.. read more
