Anything over, I would not recommend for those over 6'. **Amenities** Nice pool in back and small room. It's part of the Derby collection of hotels. **Local Attractions** Check out the market next door to get your Jamon Iberico and Cava needs. You're a 15 minute walk from the Hop On Hop Off buses at Plaça de Catalunya for you first timers.

I usually stay at the other end of the long street but this hotel was included with our tour. We noticed right away that the room smelled funky and figured out that it was the moldy shower curtain. My friend requested to change out her shower curtain and it seemed to help a bit. My shower curtain was not as bad the first day but after I took a shower, the next day the whole bathroom smelled like mildew. I asked them to change the shower curtain but it wasn't a new one so the smell never went away. After the second shower the next day it was even worse. It was worse a stinky locker room. The smell actually wafted out into the hallway. It was really gross. The shower head in the bathtub was in the center of the wall, long side so when you shower it blasts the thin shower curtain and soaks the floor. The bathroom has no ventilation and no fan so it doesn't dry or air out. There was mold in the grouting between the tiles. The toilet was the kind you would see at an airport bathroom with the pull down handles to flush and the noise was loud enough to wake the dead. Unfortunately it was all noise with a weak flush. I have no idea who thought this toilet was a good idea in a hotel with walls made of tissue paper. You could hear everything in the adjacent rooms. The room was so musty and the air conditioning and heater didn't work. Some of the rooms were hot and muggy and some rooms were as cold as a refrigerator, no matter what temperature was set. We ended up opening the windows that had no screen and crossing our fingers that bugs and birds wouldn't fly in. The bed was awful. We all had individual rooms but got 2 twin beds pushed together but not attached so they slid apart. The bed springs squeaked and I could feel the coils in the cheap mattress. One of my mattresses was sloped. The beds have only flat sheets which slid around and there wasn't a blanket or comforter. I nearly forgot to mention the huge cockroach we found in the room. Absolutely disgusting. Housekeeping didn't even come by unless requested and did the minimal. Photo of our cockroach guest is attached. I cannot believe that this hotel is listed as 4 stars. I have stayed at 1 star hotels and hostels nicer and cleaner than this one. I am not sure how much Globus paid for these rooms but you couldn't pay me to stay here again.

There is not a microwave in the room. There are several landmarks that are all walking distances. Walking distance to Fira de Barcelona, and also close by Palau Sant Jordi, the Joan Miró Park, the Park of Industrial Spain, the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, and the National Museum of Catalan Visual Art, among other sites. If you enjoy shopping or eating, they have several opportunities to accommodate both of those needs as well. They have a business center with I believe was 2 computers, a bar area and a restaurant. They do offer laundry if you needed take care of. The bar made decent drinks and the food was also decent. They have a beet burger that was AMAZING!! Be careful with the garlic prawns. They were deshelled but were not cleaned....imagine enjoying shrimp and when you opening it and seeing their poop...not very appetizing. All in all, I would stay here again. Very easy access to many things and friendly staff.

Also, no coffee cups or water glasses for coffee and tea - only 2 paper cups that were not swapped out next day. Beds were sliding around just when you sit on them. The breakfast buffet was not quite up to par: scrambled eggs were the fake kind that taste like sponges. The 2 stars are for the coffee which was good, and the one attentive pleasant reception person who helped us with storing our luggage the first morning...

When I talked to the desk about it they were very passive and said there was nothing he could do about it because there was no proof. Felt very shady. No apology. I was not expecting to be refunded, I just wanted to make them aware of the situation. Also- beds were terribly uncomfortable. Felt like a military cot. 2 stars only because it was in great area. Very walkable and many many shops and restaurants around to visit. We walked everywhere during our trip except to and from the airport.

It's nice that we're located in the gothic quarter with so many busy spots to shop and relax but unfortunately this hotel couldn't do that for me. You can just barely see the sky if you stand close to the window. Mainly the view is of other rooms just meters away. How this can be safe in the event of a fire I don't know. On the more positive side, there is a very complete breakfast with hot and cold foods, and even beans for those with British tastes. The rooms appeared to be very clean, albeit small. Note that you need to put your door key into the slot inside the room for any lights to work. I've only ever encountered this once before while traveling on a business trip to Nebraska. If you don't mind the room's tiny size and the lack of any view out the window (and whatever that means in the event of a fire) this could be a good choice for your stay in Barcelona.

Reception was friendly and efficient and our room on the third floor was mostly quiet with the bulk of the noise coming from the other guests slamming doors and cleaning staff in the hallways. The room was very comfortable, cool and dark at night. Beds were very comfortable, pillows were ample and varied and the bathroom/shower was larger than most. That being said, the dual sinks were outside of the bathroom so there is no way to use them without lighting up the whole room and waking your partner... small inconvenience. The sink on the right in our room was completely plugged and unusable. Staff was informed. There were some dark lines in the corners and grout lines of the bathroom, maybe mold? Mostly minor. The included iron and ironing board were fabulously convenient. Thanks for those. Behind the sinks, on the bed side, is a bar fridge that never really got cold, and a cupboard with kettle and glasses and a bottle opener, nice. Overall, the room was one of the better rooms we have had. The Orbital Cafe was a welcome and fairly priced discovery, where we had our first meal and drink after having a long train ride and had checked into the hotel. Great staff and very friendly. The included breakfast buffet has been by far the most complete and varied buffet we have had the pleasure of partaking in. Of all the included breakfasts we have had, the variety and selection (they will even cook you omelets and eggs to your liking at an omelet station) are unsurpassed. So far, the best included breakfast. There is at this time some renovations/construction on going at the train station/hotel which made the entry to the hotel just a little trickier, but by no means does it impact your stay. We have really enjoyed our stay at Barcelo Sants and would very much recommend this hotel as a great place to stay.

The Ugly - The workers were using the tiny elevators when doing construction. It was pretty silly that I had to wait for SEVERAL elevators to go by as the construction guys used both tiny elevators to do their work. All-in-all, I'd stay here again. Or maybe spring a little bit more and get a nicer hotel, but aside from the mildew situation in the bathroom, it all seemed ok.
