What I appreciated most was his resourcefulness, ability to connect, and his ability to recite legal code without pause. Dealing with the legal system particularly when it involves a family member with a history of mental health illness is difficult. Having a knowledgeable and patient attorney is critical. Reasonable rates with several payment options. Cons - Once the retainer was paid it became nearly impossible to reach Joe. A Senior Associate was assigned to assist with our sons case. Said associate was dismissive, arrogant, condescending, and unprepared. From the initial conversation it became clear this associate was exactly the opposite of what we wanted in an attorney. Every attempt to reach Joe through his Office Manager and/or Legal Assistant was unsuccessful. It took nearly a week and a follow up call for the docket to reflect a substitution in legal council. Several other incidents revealed a larger firm, creative biographies, and strategic marketing isn't necessarily a reflection of the service you will receive. If you are working with Joe directly without question he is worth the investment.

I had to write this review several months ago but got busy and finally doing it now. Richard Herman and his team are excellent lawyers. My case was very very difficult and rare case. After I consulted with Richard Herman, I spoke with several other lawyers to get second, third and so on and so forth opinions. Several, if not ALL of them, rejected me, saying they don't take a such case. One lawyer told me that the case is the dead-end case. I don't want to get in to too many details of the case, but unknowingly and accidently I voted in a federal election and didn't even know that it was a federal crime and was facing, in a good case scenario a deportation, otherwise up to 2 years of imprisonment, forget about citizenship. Richard Herman was the ONLY lawyer who set realistic expectations, without promising me the moon from the sky, told me that we have a very slim chance to win this, but he will do his best. I was ready to the worst possible scenarios. However, with the right guidance and excellent Affidavit of Support from Richard Herman, which was a crucial part of the evidence packet sent to USCIS, in just a month I got approved for the citizenship.
