It only set me back $30 (to wash and dry) and I could leave to attend to other errands, knowing my clothes were in good hands. It is stocked with at least 10 washing machines and six driers, and is the only laundrette I know in the area which is open seven days a week. Grab a coffee from any of the countless cafes nearby and take a sit on the bench outside, or take advantage of the magazines provided to keep you occupied. This place is a keeper and a true lifesaver on a Sunday afternoon when you suddenly realize you have no clothes for work the next day!

Luckily Glebe has a few different laundry services to choose from. In my experience, the best one is Hoang Sanh. There are a couple things I like about this place: I like the fact that they always match my socks up correctly (it's shocking how polka dot with polka dot, paisley with paisley can be such a difficult concept). I like that the male owner has the uncanny ability to fold my t-shirts into the most perfect rectangle one might ever see. I also like the fact that it's a family establishment. I rarely walk in their door without receiving a friendly little RAM into my shin by a 3 year-old driving a plastic car. Lastly, I like the "no judgment" approach to dry cleaning. One time after a particularly huge day / night out, I brought in my favorite white skirt with grass stains all over the back and technicolor cocktail spillage on the front. I gave it to the owner sheepishly with down-cast eyes and a "please, please it's my favorite!" But here's a Seinfeld dilemma about Abercrombie Street Laundrette: My boyfriend (who, for the purposes of this review, we shall call Cicero) was a regular customer of Abercrombie St Laundrette, in our pre-washing-machine days. Late last year, Cicero gave this laundromat a basket of clothing, asking for the usual, a wash and fold. When he came to retrieve it, the laundry man (lets call him Philbert) showed Cicero how there was a blue biro in the washing load, and blue ink got all over everything. Philbert made it abundantly clear that he was not impressed, and it was not his fault at all. Granted - it's Cicero's responsibility to frisk his own shirts of their contents before putting them into be washed. And thoroughness in laundry is not one of Cicero's strong points. BUT ... here's what we're wondering ... do Philbert & Thelma also have some responsibility here? I'm still not sure. Here's the other thing. Cicero always uses black felt-tip pens, not blue biros. So where did the blue pen come from? Philbert stood his ground, despite Cicero's protestations. Everything was stained and Philbert wasn't going to offer free dry cleaning for anything. Cicero still feels a bit hard done by, his meagre wardrobe permanently tainted by a mystery blue ballpoint. But he took his laundry back there the next week, and Thelma smiled at him and unjudgmentally washed his ripped jeans and blue-stained shirts. This all went on until we bought a washing machine (see my review of JL Services). Just a note: This place has strange opening hours ... closing on unpredictable weekdays (sorry I can't remember this precisely, but if you're in a laundry rut on a Tuesday, best to call them first). The ladies here are thorough, kind and always smiling, and my laundry is always washed, dried and folded right on time (aka same day service). At $15 a load, this is definitely only a winter time luxury (I don't have a dryer), but I'm sticking with it until the weather warms up, for sure. Three cheers for MBL! Update: they do dry cleaning too! I paid $12 for a pair of work pants and a suit skirt with 24 hour turn around. Still love this place!

They will honestly ask you how your day has been. I have taken just about everything here- dry cleaning, tricky alterations, wash and fold, they do it all and they make sure they do it right.
