A few weeks ago we probably would have said great things about the school. Instead we left with a shattered kiddo who doesn't understand what he did wrong or why he can't go back to see his friends. Positive: The school is next to a park, in a quiet neighborhood, provides breakfast, lunch, as well as a snack, and local field trips with the kids. Negative: I received a call that my son was having a bad day and asked to pick him up early, totally fine. At 4, rough days are bound to happen. After the first bad day, I was routinely called to pick him up. We did absolutely everything the school asked for, took it upon ourselves to take a summer "break" and requested a sit down with them to ensure when he returned to school it would be successful and received no response. On the second day of a new school year, I was called to pick him up. When I arrived, the director Allie asked if we had received a call from Joey. Upon saying no, I was handed my all of my son's cubby items and given no other information. We reached out via phone as well as email and were never told exactly what he did wrong or exactly what the school had tried before giving up on him. They were quick to go from being a program that said they were happy to work with us and him, to one that kicked him out without so much as a phone call or meeting and handled the situation so poorly our son lost another spot in another pre-k he had been on a waitlist for, for over a year.

This establishment is poorly ran, poorly managed, and poorly communicated. They give you false…read moreinformation on what will occur during your childs time in their center. This establishment is more of a child bootcamp rather than a daycare and learning center. Children are forced to go to the bathroom upon arrival, there are timers for meal times, children are not allow to eat breakfast after 8am, they fully secure the doors between 9am and 4pm in which if you come in during this time you end up waiting for someone to come let you into the door for 20+ minutes. Their communication response times is terrible - I once called 7 times, messaged in the app, and sent an email and then had to wait 20+ mins at the door for someone to answer - WHILE THEY HAD MY CHILDREN IN THEIR CARE! Their owner/director doesn't communicate back to you. I had to ask them to speak welcoming and warm to my children at arrival!!! Who has to ask for teachers to be warm and welcoming!!!??? If I could rate this establishment below 1 star it would be negative stars.

The comments posted on 02/16 and 02/17 are legally considered libel and I find them disgusting and racist. Little Steps is a great facility. They are the ONLY daycare in the area that has video surveillance. My daughter comes home every day telling me how much she loves her teachers and singing songs to me in Spanish. The community that exists at Little Steps is inclusive and inviting. We have a very special situation with our daughter, and Little Steps accommodated her without a minute of hesitation. Since going to Little Steps, my child's behavior has improved and she now has a natural schedule that helps us all function better as a family. The people that look after our children are dedicated and loving. My daughter looks forward to attending every day. I love Little Steps and when my baby is born, he will attend as well.

To our surprise it has been the best experience I could imagine! The class sizes are smaller than what I am use to and the teachers are so friendly and nice. We have been so happy we have transferred our other daughter over. What they do for the community is amazing and the sliding tuition scale benefits so many families who live and work on the Island. I am grateful for what they have been able to do for our familiy (especially during COVID when good care was hard to come by). I only wish I new how great they were 3 years ago.

We moved to Hilton Head from another state where he attended very prestigious schools. This school has been both his and his parent's favorite school. At the end of the day, he would not want to leave. I am a teacher and a former Head Start teacher. I was extremely impressed with their curriculum and learning centers. The school is well stocked with quality educational supplies and toys. The teachers are educated in the field, which is hard to find at a preschool level. The children where always actively playing or learning every time I observed. Even at nap time, when my child did not nap, the teacher would teach him individually. My son excelled both emotionally, socially, and academically at this school. There were some concepts that I had planned to teach him over the summer that are advanced for his age. I was pleasantly surprised that he had learned these concepts at school. Being an educator for that age, I have been to numerous schools. The teachers and children are the happiest that I have seen at any preschool. The teachers are not only excellent educators, they are wonderful nurturers. My child is an only child and needed help learning how to share and manage his emotions around other children. This school taught him these skills. The highest end schools in a large city did not work with him to teach him the skills. Teachers have to be very skilled and patient to teach a child how to manage emotions. I wish that we had moved sooner. My son is the happiest that he has ever been. My husband and I can say that Christ Lutheran Preschool is an excellent preschool. They go beyond the normal duty and provide music, chapel, learning activities, and family activities. Our family and my son have wonderful memories due to the school and staff. The staff was always very supportive of our needs. We will miss my son attending this school.

We have no idea what was going on with the person who treated them poorly or what the organization was going through. We WERE consistent donors to BLUFFTON SELF HELP for many years but lately it's been increasingly…read morefrustrating. Today was the last straw. The sign out front clearly stated donations were accepted from 10a to 4p. I came straight from Krogers with 2 full bags of canned meat products at 3:15. Self Help refused to answer the back door where donations are accepted. I drove to the front, found 2 young men loading a client's vehicle and suggested someone check the back doorbell since there had been no response when I rang twice. They informed me rudely they were NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS PERIOD. I have concluded that despite numerous appeals in my community to "fill the pantry" that this food bank is NOT IN NEED therefore any donations will simply be sent to the pig farmer who collects their discards. DO NOT DONATE TO BLUFFTON SELF HELP.
