I am very allergic to mold. Lately, whenever I'm in the back of the store, I smell mold. I even saw buckets on the floor which makes me think there are water leaks in the roof. Hobby Lobby is such a fun store! While I am not too crafty, this store does sell so many cute trinkets and decorations. They normally have alot of items that are 50% during their sales that varies per week. I really like the large selection of blinged out picture frames and their candle selection. read more

Truth: I can easily spend hours upon hours at Hobby Lobby. EASY. The creative opportunities that reside in those four walls are ENDLESS. No matter what project you're looking to take on, Hobby Lobby has got what you need. I've come here for event supplies, paper for modge podging a desk I repurposed, items to make a holiday wreath - to name a few. This is also a really great place to find gifts! There are so many nic-nacs, frames, and home decor items, it's great. They always have tons of holiday decorations too. When I'm finally ready to decorate our empty spare bedroom, I'm definitely coming to hobby lobby! They have their home decor items organized by theme/color and you could literally design a whole room from what they have. The best bart? They ALWAYS have sales going on - especially on their frames. They're always 50% off. I don't think I've ever bought something from Hobby Lobby at full price and I'm not complaining. Plus, they always have coupons online, so be sure to check that out before you go! My only complaint: The last few times I've been here there were only one or two cashiers and the line was REALLY long. My name is Heidi, and I'm a Hobby Lobby addict. I've only recently discovered this store and now I can't get enough. Of course, I've known about it... just never set foot in here until now. But oh my word. This store is my drug. I walk in and immediately my mind goes into overdrive. Must buy all the things! Things! Things, things, things everywhere! Then I have to remind myself I am in an 800 sq ft apartment, not my forever home. And then my bank account reminds me not to be spontaneous, and my credit cards try to burrow themselves in the depths of my wallet. Moving on. I've been on a quest for items to help make decorations and centerpieces for my upcoming wedding. The challenge is my necessity for Christmas and other holiday decor, as my wedding is in December. But good ol' Hobby Lobby came to the rescue. My first visit here in mid July was positive; there were already aisles and aisles of Christmas goodies! I began throwing crap in my cart, and made my way to the floral section. I needed ten packs of branches with "ice beads" on them. Of course, they're on the very top shelf and no employees were in sight. It was tempting to ninja my way up the shelves and help myself, but the store has signs everywhere advising not to do such things. Obviously. It's people like me that ruined it for everyone else. After scouring the area, I finally spot an employee cutting fabric. I advised her that I needed assistance in floral and asked if she'd page someone. She did, but acted as though I had completely ruined her day. So I walk back over to floral and wait. And wait. And wait some more. It had been 15 minutes when I spot a young woman employee and asked her for assistance. She smiled, walked up front, and a few minutes later a young man arrived with the ladder. I was grateful for the young girl, not so much for the old biddy cutting fleece. That shopping trip was quite expensive (the branches alone were $100), but whatcha gonna do? Weddings need stuff. And I guess I have to be the one to buy all that stuff. I've been back a few other times since, and have been delighted to see that their wedding stuff is all 50% off. I purchased our unity sand and photo frame/sand holder, guestbook, fancy pen thingy, and some other stuff that I certainly wouldn't have paid full price for. Yay for sales! No doubt I'll be back again in the near future. And lord help me, if I ever become a homeowner- my fiance better hide my credit cards if I mention I'm going to Hobby Lobby "for a few things." read more

Prior to heading into hobby lobby I was going to visit another smaller framing company in Naperville, but I am glad I didn't. Yes, framing is expensive but Megan did a great job talking me through all of the price points, matting options and ideas on what might look best for our art. I picked the framed artwork up today and they look amazing! You are guaranteed to find me in the Hobby Lobby with a cart full of decorations after whatever holiday has just passed because it is all marked down at least 40% percent or more! They also mail out coupons like its cool. You will never pay full price for anything at Hobby Lobby. Today I bought two beautiful lamps for my bedroom and they were 50% off. I saved sooo much money. You won't find deals like that anywhere else. All Hobby Lobby's are great, but this one specifically is meh. Don't get me wrong, they have every thing that every other Hobby Lobby has, but it's not the cleanest Hobby Lobby I've ever seen and the staff are terrible. I can never find help when I need it and it seems like there are only ever two people working here, even on the busiest days! Checking out of this place is a nightmare. Plus, I don't know what it is about this location in particular, but every thing is always broken. Make sure you check your items before purchasing them! There is always a 40% off coupon online, so print one out before you visit! Most items are always on sale, like floral and photo frames. The photo frames are unique and make wonderful gifts or home items for yourself - some of my favorite frames are from Hobby Lobby. Also proving useful is the wedding section. Lots of ribbons, rosebuds and other leafy decor for cheap. We made boutinerres for 11 guys. The total cost was $20 for supplies, and about an hour and a half of our time. That's with at least one coupon, and taking the time inbetween to chat. Did I mention I'm the least crafty person on earth? Most of what I attempt looks like a mess as if I attempted the project without thumbs. The boutinerres turned out fantastic though, and you couldn't tell they weren't real in the photos. Not open on Sundays. So you better not plan your Great Outing to Hobby Lobby and Chik-Fil-A, or you will be sorely disappointed. read more

The staff was the friendliest. I felt like I knew them. They were so helpful in finding what I wanted. Even though they didn't have what I needed, they directed me to other stores that might have what I was looking for. Even a customer helped me by googling an address for me. Now that was awesome. I hadn't been in the store in quite a while and I was so impressed at how big it has gotten. I will be going back because I saw so many things I would love to have. I find those over inflated prices and constant 50 % OFF sales insulting, those are not really sales, they are regular prices comparable to competition. I try to avoid Hobby Lobby as much as possible. That being said I don't think all Hobby Lobbies are created equal. Here are my beefs with this particular store. #1 - I like to go shopping on Sundays. So even if I wanted to, can't go here because they're closed. #2 - Update your cash registers! The manual registers take forever. Every time I'm at this Hobby Lobby, I am in line 5-10 minutes. #3 - I wish they had more items that were American made. #4 - Employees are never in an upbeat or semi-good mood. I get the feeling they really don't like their job. Something I like: #1 - 40% coupon every week in the paper. The first and most important reason I give this store 4 stars is because of the framing department. I'm a photographer and when I need to get prints ready for a photo exhibition, show or for personal use, I absolutely love that I can go here, get whatever colored mat board I want, custom cut, pretty much on the spot. They are great at what they do and do it fairly quickly. They have a great selection of frames, that are a lot of times, half off. It is my go to place for framing. I have also used this store for a lot of other things, too. I recently got married and purchased a lot of craft supplies to make my own place card settings, table numbers, thank you cards. They have everything you need and it's reasonably priced and they have excellent sales, all the time. I even bought and made jewelry for my bridesmaids. I do have to agree, however, that I wish they carried way more American products. I'm sure it wouldn't be as cheap, but we all need to start buy more American. I'm not entirely sure if there is anything but China made products. That being said, this is the tchotchke and home decorating mecca! I don't typically buy much from this section, but it's always fun to look at and I always say, "I really like this.. but have no where to put it." and just move along. I have found really excellent finds in their clearance section. This store is so big and has so much stuff in it, you could spend a couple hours walking around and not realize it... unless you're with a man. When I need Stuff, this is the place. You know, the stuff people have in their homes that you wonder where it came from. Wooden figurines of african elephants. Shabby chic is the term, I think, for all those mosiac-patterned lampshades, coasters, picture frames - admit it, you kinda like those thingies! And it's useful. But please, don't start purely shopping here, you'll add fifteen years and flat shoes before you know it. Think custom framing. Think cheap scrapbooking supplies. Think wreath-making supplies. Think....miscellaneous. For example, my good friend Christine was teaching Sunday school and she needed jingle bells. Where do you get that? She was actually told that she looked, "suspicious ". She then proceeded to make her purchase and leave. That is the last time this company gets my money. They get the 2nd star for the prices, but I probably won't be back. I haven't scrapbooked since I was a teenager, but wanting to get back into it for wedding stuff. I'm on limited time and budget, so I went with Hobby Lobby because I saw online 40% off most scrapbooking items this week, which was a better deal than Michael's or JoAnn's. Found an employee re-doing the scrapbooking section (wasn't sure, so I asked, and she begrudgingly told me that yes, this aisle that she'd completely blocked and the next several were all scrapbooking). I apologized and said I was new to this; she didn't seem amused. After looking through the next 4 or 5 aisles, I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I went back to the messy aisle with the employee and found her co-worker had joined her. So I asked the 2nd employee if she could help me. She was a lil more helpful, but as soon as she was satisfied that she'd showed me what she thought I wanted, she was back to her aisle. After she left, I realized what she gave me wouldn't work at all for what I wanted. So I tried to find something else myself. When that didn't work, I went back to her for more help. She came and showed me what I needed, but was back to her aisle as quick as she could. After I looked through everything and had spend the better part of an hour searching through what I might need (I probably could have been upsold quite a bit if anyone had tried), I finally headed back up to the front (with my hip and knee in a LOT of pain by this point - I was already walking with a crutch, and a now even more noticeable limp). I go into what looks like the check out aisle, and the lady at the register tells me I need to come to the other side of the counter. I gave kind of a pleading look as I told her I wished they had ECV's (electronic shopping carts) here, and how I'd been looking through everything for awhile because it was hard to get help. Instead of asking if there was anything more I needed or that she could help me find, she just said, "oh ok," with a flat look. Trying to break the ice, I tried to make a joke about how it's hard to shop alone using their manual wheelchairs which have a basket strapping you in, nothing. So not being very handicap friendly is one thing, not being friendly at all? Really doesn't make me want to come back. read more

I love any craft store but am always amazed at how un-friendly most of the staff is at ANY Hobby Lobby I've visited. That's a bit incongruous given the fact that they tout their Christian "heritage". And, 9 times out of 10 the line is LONG before they call for extra cashiers. That's an odd business practice. Maybe that's why the staff is crabby. I have recently become aware that they are suing so that the insurance coverage they supply their employees doesn't have to cover birth control. Really? Family planning would benefit your employees ~ not to mention how many times these medications are used to treat other hormonal imbalances and "female issues". What decade are we in? This kind of narrow-minded thinking will influence my choice to stop at your store or Michael's or Ben Franklin's. read more

Horrible experience!! The staff needs bias training! The rep at the counter was rude and literally said my painting was the stores.. I am going to raise a lawsuit definitely!! I bought a watercolor paper that I painted on which still had the price tag.. lady at checkout keeps asking why is there a price tag despite me saying I got the paper there.. the framing lady was very nice and the painting was mine and I did nothing t remove price sticker the manager did not even apologize , she just said she will talk to staff shameful. art projects and framing is easy with the folks at HL, helpful input and are very patient, when getting frames use the 40% off coupon for the museum caliber glass. the checkout lines are very slow so keep youre cool, the deals are great.. they rotate all the items so check back often because the item youre looking at will be on sale soon.. its a constant rotating sale.. great place. closed sunday. read more

I bought 3 chairs for my kitchen island that I just loved. My 17 month daughter who weighed 18lbs stepped up onto the foot rest and it snapped in half. I was shocked I had bought these chairs 11 months ago. I called HL to inform them of my safety concerns as well as disappointment in their product. Perhaps it was a product defective I requested an exchange not even to have my money refunded. I was disappointed to learn that HL did not have the same safety concerns and they would not entertain doing an exchange. Instead they insisted that the return policy was 90 days and nothing more could be done. I then phones corporate to file a complaint. I received the same response. I used to spend a good amount of money on decorations and picture frames every year. Given my negative experience I will no longer be doing business with Hobby Lobby. I learned an expensive lesson and will not make that mistake again. If I could give less than one star I would. Shop at Joanne Fabrics they are more professional and customer focused. read more
