I picked up everything I needed. You can't go wrong for crafts and office supplies here. There usually aren't enough employees to serve your needs if you're a needy type of customer but if you can browse on your own then the store is fine. That's true of any Hobby Lobby. Go crazy! You will walk out with more than what you came for. Their prices beat most stores, including Target and Walmart, but the product quality is still superior. I'm a Hobby Lobby fan. Walked the entire store looking for jewelry box inserts for a custom built-in I was making without being asked if I needed help by a single employee. Eventually I asked the fabric guy if they had any and of course, they didn't. I've now been here 4 times, and only once did they have what I came for. I've had much better luck at other locations in the past. Seems to be a long checkout line every time too. Always have a pleasant experience at this store. Most recently I have had a great encounter with Michael in the framing area. He helped me with an odd shaped poster that I wanted to frame but didn't want to spend a fortune on. Then today he did a wonderful job installing hardware on 3 frames and made them look so professional. He also educated my friend and I on how to add wires to existing frames and how to hang them evenly if the hardware doesn't come installed straight from the original framer. We also learned the pretzel knot and he gave great recommendations for the coated wire versus non-coated. Always a pleasant experience with the customer service. This also includes the cashiers. They do their best to make sure I have gotten the full discount and sale prices. I love Hobby Lobby at Southpark Meadows! read more

The actual products are great and I've had very good experiences when asking employees where to find things. But OMG, don't shop here unless you have plenty of time and patience. The checkout process takes forEVER. No scanners, everything has to be entered by hand and the cashiers move, I kid you not, in slow motion. HL- why no scanners? Why no express lanes or self-checkouts? I had one item to purchase. Four check stands were open and all had at least seven people waiting. A lady a few spots ahead of me abandoned a shopping cart full of items and left the store in frustration. Please update your checkout system. read more

Asking an artist if they like Hobby Lobby is like asking a fat kid if they like ice cream. Come on now! What is there not to love? They alway have SOMETHING I wasn't planning on buying on sale. I just love this store. I love the items they sell, to the people who work here, to the random conversations I strike up with strangers I meet in the store. It has so much artsy items and really well made furniture pieces. I can trust they will have any holiday items I need and always have great sales on frames. read more

Today I went in the store and remembered why I stopped going to this store. This store NEVER has enough cashiers and then when they get busy (and by busy I mean people 6 and 7 deep waiting to check out) then they throw some staff that don't know how to work the registers, on the registers. Stood in line for almost 20 minutes today to check out. Almost considered just leaving my cart full of stuff and walking out. This is not the first time the check out has been a major hassle at this time, it is almost always like this if you go during non-normal work hours (meaning times other than 9-5 monday through friday). Their selection is ok. Prices aren't that great. I have never once had a staff ask me if I needed any help. Going to stick with Target and Bed Bath and Beyond.... read more

I love hobby lobby...until I get to the checkout. It's always slow, all returns require a manager approval, the lines are so long & there never seem to be enough cashiers. They're friendly enough when you get to the front of the line, but they could use more checkstands open more often. read more

I've been going to this Hobby Lobby since its opening and have never been disappointed. They always have good deals going on, have good holiday selection, and nice staff to help with whatever is needed. The only occasional problem is when the checkout line can get a little long. read more

Very disappointed on Hobby Lobby's no pet policy. I usually don't have any problems bringing my Dog in with me. But yesterday I went in with my dog and some employee told me Dogs were not allowed in the store and there was a sign posted. Well of course I left the store. If my dog isn't good enough for Hobbly Lobby, then it's ceertainly not good enough for me and my money. Especially since their competitor "Michael's" has no problem with allowing Dogs in their stores... I drove straight to Michael's and me and my dog spent my money in their store. Austin is a very pro pet city and I think Hobby Lobby should reconsider their "No Pet Policy" My dog has never had an accident in any store I take her into. Today I went to this Hobby Lobby location with my four year old twins in tow. I was trying to get someone to come cut some fabric for me. There was a woman wearing a red shirt, with no nametag or way for me to identify her as an employee, doing what appeared to be inventory by the sewing notions. The twins were being really good, but they were not quiet by any means. She looked right at me at least twice, and then at one point she walked by us on her way to the front of the store and then walked back by us and went back to what she was doing. I assumed she was from some outside inventory agency, so I thought nothing of it. After I had stood there for TEN MINUTES, a man, woman, and teenaged girl came to the department. I had gone down a couple of aisles trying to find some help, to no avail. As I rounded the corner back to the fabric cutting counter, the new customer was asking the woman in the red shirt for some help and the woman in the red shirt walked over and started to answer her questions. I said out loud, "you've got to be kidding me." When the question was answered, the woman in the red shirt started back to do whatever it was she was doing again, and didn't even acknowledge me. I said, "Excuse me! I have been standing here for 10 minutes waiting for someone to cut some fabric for me." She walked over and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you." I said, "Really? You looked at me three times and walked by me twice, and my kids aren't exactly quiet." She said, "well, I never heard the bell ring, and we expect people to ring the bell when they need help." The bell to which she referred was on the other side of the fabric cutting station, about 10 feet away from where we were standing, and I hadn't seen it or noticed a sign on my side of the table. We were purposefully standing on that side so that the twins weren't close to the ribbon and other small objects they might have been tempted to grab. I said, "Well, I didn't see the bell" and she said, "Well that's why I didn't help you." I did a little more complaining (I was pretty mad) and basically tried to take the fabric away from her to go put it back on the shelf. "You don't want me to cut that?" "No, I don't. I'm not buying anything from here today." "Well, I'm the manager..." and literally the second she said that, I heard nothing else. I said, "well, if you're the manager, then I am definitely not shopping here ever again. And I'm posting this to Facebook, and I'm also going to write a letter to your corporate management to complain. What is your name?" She told me it was Nelda. Afterwards, I was telling a friend about my experience, and she told me that she took her kids in the public restrooms in that store a few weeks ago and they were appallingly foul and disgusting. Is it not also the manager's job to be sure that the store cleanliness is up to par? This, to me, is just another sign of the attitude this manager has about customer service. I worked in retail for many years and we were taught that the first lesson of retail is "The customer is always right" and the second lesson is "If you see someone standing around, offer them help, even if it is not your department." Nelda did not follow either of these models of retail service. I am really surprised that she is the manager. I have always enjoyed shopping at Hobby Lobby stores, and I have never had a negative experience until today. In fact, usually I find the employees to be incredibly attentive and helpful, as in the instance last spring when I shopped in the store at 8000 Research Blvd. On that occasion, the woman working in the fabric department came over almost immediately to offer help, and she took the time to ask me questions about what I needed and guide me to the correct product. This is the type of service I have grown to expect at Hobby Lobby over the years and is one of the main reasons I continue to shop at Hobby Lobby stores. I have already posted my story to Facebook, and also sent an email to corporate management to let them know that Nelda the manager has this kind of attitude towards customers. I believe she is doing their business a disservice with her attitude and unwillingness to assist others, and according to my friend, she is not big on restroom cleanliness, either. I will not be shopping at that location again; it's the closest one to my house, so most likely the next time I need to purchase craft supplies, I will be taking my business to JoAnn or Michael's, which are both closer to my house than the next nearest Hobby Lobby. read more

Went in to the store on 2/21 with the intent on purchasing one item I could carry in my hand, at least that was the plan. Instead of buying one of bag of rocks I ended up buying 14 bags of crafting rocks. Completely check out when I realize I am out of my area and that I should have brought in my bags. I fill my purse up with the rocks only to figure out that method is not going to work out. I ask the checker for a bag when she informs me they are.43, which is not a problem but I wonder out loud to the lady checking me out, why they wouldn't ask you if you want a bag at the time they are checking you out. She explained "because that isn't how we do it", she goes on to explain that I should have known I needed a bag. The main point is that the lady watched me fill my purse completely up with the stupid bags of rocks and then expected me to empty them all back out to get her .43 to buy a bag. Maybe it was the delivery, maybe it was her tone or maybe just maybe I am tired of the lack of customer service at all of the local Hobby Lobby locations (with the exception of the 183-Lamar location). NAOMI was rude and inconsiderate. She or THEY should learn to ask people before giving them their total if they will need to purchase a bag. Not everyone that walks in those doors in from Austin so it would seem to be a fitting questions based on the plastic bag ordinance. read more

So disappointed and to be honest angry. I am reupholtering my dinning room chairs and went in search of fabric to do so.I selected three fabric rolls and stood at the fabric cutting station for 15 minutes! I rang that darn bell like a thousand times and NOTHING!! My husband went to go ask for assistance (took forever to find an associate) and they said they would get someone for us. They never came. I felt like almost cutting my own fabric BUT why should I pay for horrible service?! I left all three rolls on the table and we left to Joanns. Never coming here again. read more
