I ventured in HL today in search of a multi-generational craft. I settled on painting metal containers that we can fill with candy. I decided against painting on glass because, well, breakable. I think the painting/candy eating activity will be just fine. I found all that I needed here, along with other things I don't (see toaster, above) and most of it on sale (sometimes up to 70 percent off). Surprisingly, most of the Easter items were already cleared away for patriotic red white and blue items (Memorial Day? Flag Day? Fourth of July ?). read more

As a crafting gal, Hobby Lobby and really any craft store are stores I frequent. However, I don't often come to this location. Today, my husband and I decided to swing to look for some fun light switch and electrical outlet covers, and hooks for keys. When I tell you the possibilities are endless. But before I got into that, I was SHOCKED to see fall decor already on super sale, and Christmas decor was already taking over half of the store. I guess it makes sense because I too start decorating for Christmas November 1st which is just a month away. But I was super surprised when I saw it in stores today. After wandering for a bit, we finally found what we were looking for and ended up with these metal/clay covers & hooks with a blue/grey design to add some extra umpf into our walls. So why the removal of 1 star? I'd say was the help from the staff. When I asked staff for help looking for the right aisle, it was as though I was burdening her. She just said "it's over there, if you walk and keep looking you'll find it." I mean technically did what she said and found it... but I just wished save gave us a general aisle rather than a general direction. Overall, this hobby lobby is stalked with all the things, more than I could ever dream of using or needing. I also need to remember that I need to stop by on days that are NOT Sundays. read more

I was at their store in Vernon Hills and it was closed, it didn't say that on their website, so maybe they need to update it! I am here at their Deerfield location and the store is very organized and clean! They have a big sale all over the different departments, their sketch pads are 40% off without coupon, baking stuff are 30% off, books are 40-50% off and etc! You can also download a coupon from their website for 40% off on a regular price item! The coupon expires today 8.15.20! So go and buy! read more

Well, it seems as though I vowed not to come back here in my last review. Well, guess what? When I'm on a tight budget and have an event to plan, I'll go wherever I need to in order to get what it is that I'm on the hunt for. Let me tell you something...the customer service was off the charts incredible, and I swear the entire store was on sale! Everything I needed was 40% off, and I found a better deal on something I had just purchased at the Party Store, so my stop was a huge win. This is where I will go for foamboard in the future. They had all sizes in stock, and everything was 40% off. I was super unhappy with the yellow plastic champagne glasses I purchased somewhere else, and at Hobby Lobby they had clear ones for half the price! Major score, since that's what I was looking for initially. Oh, if you didn't know, they have a pretty decent party planning section, and they also sell helium balloon kits. In my search for super cheap water pitchers, they didn't have what I was looking for in the end, but two people actually stopped to help me find them. In our search, I was led to the spring section that was in the process of being stocked. Cuuuute things to look forward to. So, it seems as though there's a chance that this place redeemed itself with it's customer service. That means in a pinch I'll most likely be back at some point in time. read more

Can in here yesterday, there was only one cashier and at least 7 people waiting in line. Main issue was the customer currently at the register was returning items one bag a a damn time. So another employee was trying to help her and instead of opening another register and was just walking around the dang store. They didn't even acknowledge anyone in the line till I said something. Then she called Over the PA system for a guy named mike, who obviously has hearing issues cause he never came. So I, being the very vocal man that I am, yelled for this so called MIKE guy, who eventually came 10 mins later. Never seen such unprofessional, lazy, worthless people in a store in my life. Corporate should get involved and see what the disconnect is with whomever is managing this location and send her packing. I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt this way that day, just not afraid to be vocal. read more

How is it possible that I haven't reviewed this hobby lobby? Having so many kids, I love love love Hobby lobby for school stuff to home decorating. this location is always friendly and stocked with lots of stuff that's usually on sale. My most favorite time to go is after a holiday because all products are marked heavily down I've gotten many home decor items and seasonal stuff here to decorate in and outside of my house. If you haven't checked out the store yet, I recommend it. read more

This is the second time this has happened to me where a sign for 50% off an item was on an item, but when I took it to the cash register, I was told the item wasn't included. I asked to see the manager-who said that is corporate and they said it was ok to do that?! What? False advertising. Will not be returning. read more

I try to avoid Hobby Lobby at all costs due to personal reasons, but I was in a bit of a pickle, and the location was convenient for a last minute craft. Although this store has everything to offer, I'm not sure anyone actually works here. I popped in yesterday to pickup a few items for a DIY project for an upcoming Great Gatsby party and I was having a hard time finding solid colored feathers, and low and behold, I couldn't find ANYONE to help! Once you find someone working here, they either ignore you or act super busy and rush off in the opposite direction. I did finally find the feathers at the back of the store, and then proceeded to the check out and the line was ridiculous due to an issue with a return. The cashier called for backup, but no one was coming. This clearly left the long line of North Shore mom's very upset. When one of the women asked if someone else could jump on, one of the employees who was just standing there was rather rude when she responded that they had called someone from the back. Said employee FINALLY jumped on a cash register, but COME ON. During the 10 minute wait, I was speaking to one of the other women in line and I guess Hobby Lobby had just received a huge shipment so everyone was off the floor to help with that - great customer service practices ... not. Bathrooms also smelled like death and the soap bag was out of the broken dispenser and just laying on the sink. Can we also discuss the prehistoric cash registers?! Why are they incapable of just scanning the items? It literally takes an eternity to check out once you even get through the line! I'm just grateful I only have to pop in once in a blue moon - always a headache here unless you're not in a hurry and know where to find your items. read more

I love the prices and selection at hobby lobby but honestly hate this location. It's clean and always have what I need but the workers here make every visit an inconvenience. There is ALWAYS a line and usually a long one. I've never seen more than 2 people working the register. Never seen an employee walking around to help people find anything. If your coming here for fabric it is a pain 1) to find an employee 2) get them to actually roll out and cut the fabric for you. You'll spend double the time here then Micheals but save sooo much money. A nice plus though is that the cashiers are sloppy and forgotten to charge me for items multiple times. read more

This craft store is the largest and most inexpensive in the area. That being said, it does also have some minor draw backs. They are consistently running with the minimal amount of employees as possible. I can run in for one quick item, yet spend 12-15 minutes just waiting in line at the register. read more

I really like this Hobby Lobby. Friendly, helpful staff and it is huge! The aisles are very organized. Great deals for art supplies and home decor! I especially like their framing department where I got a custom frame for a nice print I bought in Italy last Summer. Since they buy in bulk here, the price is right, even for a custom frame job. I had a very weird size to frame and got the frame with glass for $44. I was amazed. They're prompt about calling you when it's ready for pick up. The only thing I really would improve about this location are the registers. They have 5-6 registers in the front, but rarely do they have more than 1 or 2 open at a time so it doesn't take much for a line of people to accumulate. read more

This location opened in 2016. So the store is bright & in better condition than other HL's I've been to. Store is always understaffed. Those who are working, act as though they are doing you a favor by checking you out. You will wait in line at check out because they have only 1 or 2 employees at the register. Floor help is non existent. Employees have a zombie like quality and aren't familiar with the term " customer service". What keeps me coming back is the huge selection, good quality and fair prices of wrapping paper, ribbon & ornaments. read more

They have 8 registers and only had 2 open on a busy Saturday afternoon. I spent more time in the checkout line than in the store itself. The store was clean and had a good selection of items. They just need to keep an eye on the lines and open more registers when they see more than 3 people in line! read more

Really upset because I love arts and crafts. This store has terrible management. Every single time I come, there's a huge line of customers and one person at the register. The other employees are kind of rude, unhelpful, and have mischarged me for my purchases multiple times. I'm upset because I love their merchandise, hate the way it's run. Good stuff and good price. This store in particular though, had a bad experience. Went to register with two pieces of furniture and told them I called in advance and was told I can come in and order bulk vases (for my wedding). She rang me up on two pieces of furniture and told me to go get the vases and bring em. Waited in line again, she rang up those vases and wrote the rain check for the remaining not in stock - but I told her there were two different sizes that werent in store and were online that I also wanted to order. Granted there were long lines, and this wasn't going to be easy, still.. she sad she was going on break and the next person would help. The next woman, with "customer service manager" (irony) came with the worst attitude. It's not my fault the stores raincheck process is completely by hand with pen and paper. The whole time she was commenting "this is ridiculous" and after I gave her the first item SKU#, said "how many do you have?!" after I was pulling up my second vase SKU#. Like I said though, good price cause it was 50% off really modern and good quality stuff. Too bad stores like hobby lobby are stuck in their old retail ways, with miserable employees, and are driving the retail industry under. She'll be unemployed in a few months unfortunately, cause hobby lobby doesn't read this and an amazon drone will be delivering wedding vases in bulk without a sour ass attitude. read more

this location is very unhelpful I have been there 4 times when I ask where some thing is they just tell me an area. or that everything they have is out. no one is willing to check or show me anything plus I have to repeat my self several times (I speak perfect English)no one will listen. read more
