    Gabe is the most hospitable shop owner in Hobe Sound!! But he wants customers to know that he no…read morelonger repairs antique clocks. Gave it up about 10 years ago. He continues to work on watches (from changing batteries on Timex, etc.) to repairs on Rolex and Patek Philippe. He sells and repairs fine jewelry. He also works on French and English shelf clocks (small carriage size and larger). We met him the other the other day when we brought in an antique wall clock and he politely said that he stopped working on antique clocks about 10 years ago because they take so much time. All the while he was talking, he was unscrewing the clock works and telling us interesting things about it's age, the maker, and about working on time pieces. In the hour we were there having a fun conversation, he unbent a spindle, oiled everything that could have been keeping the clock from working, and explained how to hang it so that it had the best chance of keeping good time. We took it home, hung it on the wall and with a couple small adjustments to make it level, it has been keeping good time ever since. He asked that if I could get the word out that he doesn't fix old spring or weight driven clocks anymore, and I said I would. So there you have it. He'll work on wrist watches, pocket watches, pieces of jewelry or French carriage clock size or larger. GABE WAS WONDERFUL. I would trust him implicitly if I had a valuable watch. Alas, I only have an old wooden wall clock that is working again after 35 years of just hanging around being pretty.
