This review speaks to their customer service and initial quoting; I would not pay their exorbitant rates, therefore this review does not reflect the level of their craftsmanship. They arrived on-time. That was nice. They sent two, very young plumbers for a small, one-man job, then quoted me nearly $600 for a job that would take about one hour, at best, for replacing a pair of valves which themselves cost only $62 in total. Nine times the price of the part to perform an hour's work, at best. Ridiculous. At least they left promptly after I declined their services. P.S. I hired Huven Plumbing to do this job for $180 - A full two-thirds less than what Hockers quoted. read more

Avoid this company, they immediate try the up-sale when making the appointment. To start with, they told me that the service truck was fully stocked, and the replacement of my leaking water heater could be done at the time of the appointment. It was fully disclosed that there was a fee to come to the house, waived if I approved of the work. The service person arrived within a short time. That's when things started going South. I was informed that a similar replacement unit was not available. That was a lie. Home Depot has 55 of the units (indirect water heater) available. The service person said that a IBC brand was available could be installed but they don't carry indirect water heaters on the truck, absolutely the opposite was told to me when booking the service... "Our service trucks are fully stocked, and the work can be done right away, once approved". Just as a note, if I was to buy the unit on my own the price would be around $1500 delivered (but not from these guys). The service person immediately told me that my existing installation was not to code. This was a lie, and a deliberate misinterpretation of the code in order to justify extra work that was not necessary. I only received a verbal quote of $6050 but I could get 10% off by joining some kind of yearly Hocker's subscription B.S. for $250 /yr or something like that. Again, noting was written down in a quote, and I declined the work. Then the service guy tried to get me to sign to approve the work that was done. Wanted signatures 2 different places!, I refused. This is a basic ripoff, misleading the customer, attempting to up-sale with additional trips. and misinterpreting the codes to confuse the customer. With the actual cost of the unit, in reality being around $1500 and attempting to give bill of around $6000 to be paid immediately, or financed. read more

Had a pipe leaking from my kitchen sink into the basement. Service showed up found the problem and quoted 850 to repair. I agreed and paid. They replaced the pipes and then let me know there was a blockage in the pipe they couldn't fix, but they could get someone out the next day to repair. The next day a new person came and snaked the pipes. I then received a bill for an additional 350. I called and complained but they only lowered it to 250. I then came home to a really bad smell. They apparently didn't examine the pipes as they broke something while clearing the clog. I now have a hole in the wall that the invoice said would be covered, sludge all over my basement wall and floor, and a brand new completely different leaking pipe. read more

Called them to install a small vanity that I had purchased to replace a similer sized vanity in that spot. Connections were there but he had to leave and get another tail piece. Doors on vanity were not adjusted and handle on vanity was not installed. I was charged $550.76 for this work which took less than 2 hours (and included estimates for other projects, sic.) I had also wanted him to switch out older fixtures on a tub shower. He looked at it briefly and suggested I replace the tub . I said ok (I'm open to suggestions and money is not an issue) but then he looks and says he can't do it but an outfit like Tundraland might. Duh? The plumber that I had in for recommendations before didn't see any problem switching out the faucet....and he didn't suggest pulling the tub and he DEFINITELY did not suggest using another company. I had also wanted information on converting a third bedroom into a bathroom. He didnt volunteer the info so as he was going out the door I asked him....too expensive, he says. Lol. He lost that remodel immediately. Thennnnnn....i received unsolicited text messages Saturday, SUNDAY, Tuesday, Wednesday ,and Friday wanting to know if I wanted to proceed. Huh? Proceed with what? I was still waiting for the RECEIPT! Requested the receipt, received the recept only to have the wrong service address on it. I texted back that despite using their services on and off over the past 20 years I would be using a different provider and to not contact me agaIn!!! Within 2 hours Hockers was calling me. Sooo we started out with 5 stars and subtracted one for their $250 per hour charge. Lost another star when he didn't install faucet on tub and suggested I contact another provider. Lost another star when he started walking out the door before he had given me BASIC info about converting a third bedroom into a second bath. Lost another star for 5 unsolicited texts before sending a receipt. Lost another star for calling me when I very clearly asked him not to contact me again. We're out of stars? That's too bad because I had more to say. I own and manage multi-family properties and can use a good plumbing provider. Hockers does not meet my needs and I won't be using them. read more

A simple kitchen fixture installation became a nightmare. Canceled appointments. Unprofessional and expensive.

We have called Hockers for our plumbing issues for 19 years. They have always been curious, friendly and very reliable. I had a plumbing issue yesterday and they were here today. I had a scheduling conflict today. I called them early and told the friendly ladies at the office. She got ahold of the plumber he switched his schedule to fit me in earlier. Thank you very much for your outstanding service over the years. You want to call these people. You won't regret it. read more

$200 to get a new main shutoff valve installed. Nice staff, easy booking process. Quick service and they worked directly with the city to get it shutoff to work on. Garrett, the plumber, was efficient and timely. Recommended highly. read more

We had a fire involving our sump pump. Our homeowners' insurance brought in a restoration company to handle the clean up and repairs. Clean up was great. The sump pump and piping was replaced, but the pit itself had burned and the plumber said that could not be fixed and it would not be an issue. But it was. The spring rains came and ground water was seeping into the pit area. That water was also washing dirt and small gravel away from the side of the hole. I got nowhere with the restoration company plumber and called our insurance. After reviewing the file, we were told to call another plumber. It took a few calls to find a company that understood our problem. Hockers sent an estimator out within 48 hours. We got a written estimate, which was forwarded to the insurance. The work was approved by insurance and the job was scheduled in about 10 days. The 2 men arrived on time. They had to remove the pump, etc. in order to replace the pit. The concrete around the old pit was removed. The area was cleaned of debris from fire and erosion. They installed a new pit, put down new concrete and the area looks great. We have to replace a piece of drywall, but they did all this work around a furnace, without issue. They area actually looks cleaner than when they started. All concrete and debris was carried out. Our carpets and stairs had coverings for protection. The 2 men were finished with this job by 3 pm. Wow! A great job . Very professional, very clean, and very courteous. This was my first time using them and it just wasn't the best impression. It did seem the owner and the plumber seemed to do decent work. The plumber was able to work on a really old fixture that most plumbers were only able to put temporary fixes on, so it was nice to have someone who looked like they could do a solid job. However, dealing with some of their people just isn't worth the headache. When I talked to them about the work I needed done, I asked for the quote in writing. It seems like common sense to me, and I rarely do business without one. We were using e-mails for this communication. I was dealing with Terry for the quote and billing. In the communications I was asked if it was ok to move forward. I replied asking for confirmation of the quote. I never got a reply but they moved forward with the work. (the tenant living there was handling the meetings with the plumber). I didn't even know things were done until I got an invoice, which was for a lot more than was discussed. I pointed this out to Terry as I had it in writing....I don't think she handled it very well and I was really, really, unprofessional. I think it's more than fair to ask someone about an incorrect bill, ( especially when you have the discussions in writing) without having them get that way. I know times are tough but she definately didn't win a new customer. ( I initally asked them to quote out some additional work but since then have changed my mind). read more
