Yogi bear cabin

The people working here are so nice!! We stayed in the Yogi Bear cabin and our family had a pull through RV site. Great activities in the area including amazing hiking at Old Man's Cave. The bath house was under construction for our stay but it didn't matter much. Shower and hot water in the cabin was perfect. Kids loved the jump pad and tube slide. The lake water is blue with chemicals but the bounce slide was fun. Comfy futon bed also in this cabin!

We called the day of to get a site. I was a little nervous because we drove down from Cleveland on a Saturday and worried we would get stuck with slim pickins. The site was CLEAN! The little store at check in had everything one might need (last minute) on a camping trip! Even hot dog roasting sticks we got a great corner spot and got our tent up just in time to wAtch the sunset. It wasn't crowded the bathroom facilities were super clean and the family who ran the site were so pleasant! Great view of the stars too being situated on top of a hill/ravine. Only bad part? The raccoons who joined our star gazing! We shooed them away and back into the woods with a Tupperware container filled with change lol! Hilarious

We camped in many sites from Ohio to Florida and points in between and this is a great one! As a family-owned campground, Happy Hills really cares about their visitors. This place is constantly improving their facilities so stick around as it just keeps getting better! Near many hiking sites and nestled in the Wayne National Forest area, this place has it all within reach!

You are almost relegated to smaller coves as you try to escape the waves caused by power boats. Not at Lake Hope State Park as boaters are restricted to electric motors only. My wife is all about the well maintained mountain bike trails. We were both all about the small camping pads and many non electric sites. This meant that as tent campers we were not back to back with massive RVs. And our dog was all about all of it, especially since a state park means that he gets to hang out with his pack!  On the down side, there was only one water spigot, one near the check in, that was marked as potable. Perhaps the others throughout the campground are and are not marked. However, we chose to only get water from that spigot. The spigot that was closest to our campsite was way too close to the pit toilet for me to feel comfortable drinking without filtering/boiling.  While we didn't get the chance to actually take our boats off the car, thanks to thunderstorms, we did drive around and find some spots that would work perfectly as put ins. There's a space just off the main road that would work for those who are kayaking, canoeing, or SUPing. The drive to and from LHSP was beautiful, with the visual elevation changes. I loved that it was almost in the HHills area but lacked all the folks (and the restrictions on dogs)! Lake Hope State Park is a place that we will hands down visit again. Although, our first visit there was filled with thunderstorms- we managed to stay dry and camped anyway!

The cabin was small, cozy and spotlessly clean - we had a great time and loved the hot tub and hiking the surrounding area. Loved how close it was to all the major attractions and hiking spots - and liked the fact that there's no cell service or Internet so it's truly a tech-free getaway. This time, we came down for some winter hiking and stayed in cabin #3. We loved it even more! Slightly bigger with a separate upstairs loft bedroom that our daughter just LOVED. I don't know how Cindy and her team of cleaning elves keep these cabins so spotless - truly cleaner than home! Loved the slightly larger kitchen in #3 and adorable eat-in breakfast nook. We hiked down to Ash Cave and Cedar Falls and enjoyed the gorgeous frozen waterfalls even without any snow in sight. This is a little slice of heaven - so close to Columbus, so pet friendly and SUCH a true getaway deep in the heart of natural beauty. We'll be back!

We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit roasting marshmallows for s'mores. The only two complaints are that the bed was very uncomfortable and we each were only given ONE wash cloth to use for the entire time we were there. I hiked 13 miles on Saturday. More towels would have been nice.
