Our stay at Hocking Hills Jellystone was extremely disappointing. The campground looked nothing like the photos on their website. The online pictures created expectations that simply were not met when we arrived. To make matters worse, campsites were not clearly labeled, which resulted in another camper taking our reserved site. Management was very disorganized and, instead of taking responsibility and resolving issues efficiently, seemed to have an excuse for everything. The site we were ultimately assigned was basically a mud pit and not suitable for the premium price we paid. Many of the amenities advertised were either under construction or unavailable during our stay, yet this was not adequately communicated beforehand. We chose this campground and paid the higher rates expecting the advertised experience, but what we received fell far short. For the amount of money spent, this campground was simply not worth it. Hocking Hills itself is beautiful, but we left feeling frustrated and misled. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this campground to others. read more

Cabin rental review: No just no. The rosebud cabin is absolutely disgusting. The laminate floor is bubbled up and loose, no blinds on a window and fly stripes hanging in the windows. The mattress are thin and space is tiny tiny. Overall wouldn't recommend this Jellystone site. You have to pay for an additional car (they only allow one at a site), price of wood is higher than other places and you have to pay to do the swimming obstacle course. False advertisement for pool on the premises. Shower house on a Friday evening was ridiculous. The first door was locked to a shower, second one shower head didn't work, and the 4th was draining improperly, leaving one working shower. Would not recommend at all. read more

Jellystone Hocking Hills is a disgrace to the Jellystone name. We have stayed at several other Jellystone parks and were impressed with the grounds, the upkeep and the professionalism of the staff. You will find none of that here. We discovered a great number of bugs crawling under every single mattress in our cabin. We were moved to another cabin and told that we could stay there for the duration of our stay. The next day, as we were enjoying the region, we were told we could no longer stay and we had to move back to the bug cabin. That was not an option as the cabin was not fit for human habitation. So, we drove 3.5 hours back home a day early as we refused to live like animals. The owner promised to refund us ALL of our money due to the major issues with our stay. However, we only received a partial refund because "the partners" decided that we were not worthy of the full refund because we stayed Friday. I guess we should have packed up our stuff and drove through the night back home. Do yourself a favor and do not fall into this trap. This park should be stripped of it's Jellystone name as it does not meet the brand standards and is an embarrassment to the brand. read more

First of all there was no one at the office but had our information and site number. The map was confusing and sites are not numbered so basically had to guess. Mo one was around us so we did the best we could on the site, did try to call but no answer. Thank goodness only one night. No sewer but from the map there is a dump station. The bathrooms were not clean. Elect and water was fine. Shocked that this is a Jelly Stone looks like they took over an old campground and are trying to renovate it but should be more forthcoming on the website. If you like primitive camping, it might be OK for you, but we will not be back and I would not suggest you stay here. read more

I won't repeat other's comments regarding the pool situation and the lack of shade for the pull through sites. All are accurate. If you have a small camper or like to tent camp, this place is perfect. The back half of the grounds are shaded very well. Also mentioned by others, there are plenty of pond related things to do. Not mentioned often is that there is a nice playset and a jump pad in the center of the camp which was nice for us to let the kids go play on with other kids. The restroom was clean and well stocked. The showers were decent. As with any camp bathouse, it was soupy inside. Negatives: The lack of shade for the cabins and pull through sites. The activities were hit or miss the weekend we stayed. We showed up for a couple of them to find the activity area abandoned, or were told that they didn't know if it was going to happen. We had to leave early morning the day we left. There is no night slot on the office so we had to slide our keys on top of the door and hope they were found. We called the after hours number which went to voicemail. We left a message to call us to confirm they received the message and found the keys... no call back... we called them later in the day and confirmed they found them. All and all our stay nets out as a 5 out of 10. Mediocre customer service, inconsistent camp activities, good bath house, great cabins, and great water activities, bad pool situation. I would have scored this much higher if not for the little problems. read more

As a family we make the best of a situation but we have experienced Jellystone Parks before and we couldn't believe this was one of their parks. The grass needed cut, it was a foot high, the sites we picked had a picture with trees and good shade, those trees had been cut down. These were high 80° to low 90° days and they had shut down the pool and taken down the lake obstacle course. We had to figure out the snowless tubing on our own because the office closed early on a Saturday. Wasn't worth what we paid. We did have full hookup and check in was easy. read more

The people working here are so nice!! We stayed in the Yogi Bear cabin and our family had a pull through RV site. Great activities in the area including amazing hiking at Old Man's Cave. The bath house was under construction for our stay but it didn't matter much. Shower and hot water in the cabin was perfect. Kids loved the jump pad and tube slide. The lake water is blue with chemicals but the bounce slide was fun. Comfy futon bed also in this cabin! read more

Camped here in our fifth wheel for 4 nights. What a great campground! Beautiful wooded area with a stunning pond. Great and plentiful amenities, super friendly and responsive staff, fantastic stuff to keep the kiddos busy. Very close to Hocking Hills State Park ( wowza!) and lots of other cool stuff to do. We called the day of to get a site. I was a little nervous because we drove down from Cleveland on a Saturday and worried we would get stuck with slim pickins. The site was CLEAN! The little store at check in had everything one might need (last minute) on a camping trip! Even hot dog roasting sticks we got a great corner spot and got our tent up just in time to wAtch the sunset. It wasn't crowded the bathroom facilities were super clean and the family who ran the site were so pleasant! Great view of the stars too being situated on top of a hill/ravine. Only bad part? The raccoons who joined our star gazing! We shooed them away and back into the woods with a Tupperware container filled with change lol! Hilarious read more

We Stayed a weekend 6/11/21 I do not recommend this camp ground. The web site is miss leading . Hocking Hills attractions are not near by, they are over 30 minutes away from this camp ground. The restrooms and showers are not super clean, they are as bad as a state park camp ground. The swimming pool is not a commercial camp ground pool. The pool at this camp ground was and still is a residential home pool, that they tried to fix up to be a camp pool. The house that the pool is at, is the camp ground owners house. The pool is very unsafe for kids. No markings on the sides for depth of the pool, No rope between shallow end and deep end. No safety equipment at all. The sign says swim at your own risk, they are not lying. The owner of the house has four large dogs that tried to nip at one of the girls that was with us. I have more to say in the disappointment that I have with this camp ground, but I have said enough and will not be back. I have stayed at many Jelly stone camp grounds and this is not their standard of Jellystone Campgrounds. I'm really disappointed. read more

Nice place with onsite laundry. Site 48 is super secluded and cool but becomes a mud bog with a heavy rain. Showers were very nice but an a/c or exhaust fan would elevate this to a 5 star. Staff is off the chain friendly. read more

Cozy campground with GORGEOUS scenery and wildlife galore! We drove up from Cincinnati to camp around Hocking Hills and hike to Old Man's Cave. Happy Hills was a fabulous home base with a gorgeous lake and view of the rolling hills landscape. We went on a hike into the woods behind the campground and saw turtles, rabbits, chipmunks, gorgeous flowers and a raccoon! The hospitality can't be beat. We'll be back soon :) read more

I don't know why even someone recommend this place, 100 bulks for a very uncomfortable mattress, noisy AC, not safe lock. If not because I was too late to make a reservation, I would not choose this cabin. Horrible night. We had an absolutely wonderful time camping at Happy Hills this summer! The folks that ran it were very friendly and accomodating, going so far as to waive the early check-in fee for us and lend us coffee creamer when we ran out. The campground and surrounding areas were absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed a huge range of activities, including fishing, biking, shuffleboard, arcade games, swimming, and volleyball. The camp store was a nice touch, providing reasonably priced souvenirs and forgotten items. They delivered reasonably priced firewood directly to our camp site each evening, which was very convenient. I'll second the previous reviewer's comment about the raccoons. The little rascals had no fear, and spent half the night trying to steal beer from our cooler. We woke up to little muddy handprints everywhere. Hide your food! My one complaint would be the showers, although I think that has more to do with the hygiene of our fellow campers than camp staff. The showers were full of hair and a little yucky, but I saw staff cleaning them every day. read more

What a wonderful place! Clean, well run and Dave bends over backwards for the guests to make everything as perfect as he can. The views are spectacular, the fishing/swimming pond relaxing, games are plentiful, (heard) the pool was nice (although we didn't go) and the camp area itself was very clean. You can easily see they are constantly adding improvements, and making the lots better and larger. We had an amazing site (not going to share which one) and will definitely request it again when we come back with friends. I heard a couple people complain about the showers but I thought they were fine (You're camping people! This isn't the Hilton!) Plenty of hot water and cleaner than most camp sites I've been to. Nice area to wash dishes in outside the shower house, and if I had a suggestion, it would be to put in a couple to save on traffic backup. Dave said they plan to revamp the whole thing come winter anyway. Plan on wildlife also; the raccoons aren't shy. :) All in all, we spent a relaxing 3 day weekend that felt like an entire week of rest. Kuddos to Happy Hills :) read more

We stayed here over labor day weekend. Owners were amazing. It was raining, they were flexible with out sites letting us put multiple tents on one site due to the rain. The owner was very involved with the kids. Finding things for them to do during the rain. Bathrooms were really nice and clean for a campground, especially given all the mud and rain. This place is set in some nice scenery but it is a poorly-run dump and completely over-priced. The pool is far from the campsites and is actually the owner's backyard pool. Campsites are uneven and there is no pavement. Trash dumpsters were loaded and spilling out onto the ground. Absolutely the worst campsite I have ever stayed in with an RV. If you are looking for a place to tent camp, then go for it. You have my sympathies. There is a "lake" filled with green scum and that smells like a swamp. read more

I highly recommend Happy Hills Campground. I recently spend a manly bachelor weekend at Happy Hills Campground. The owners were gracious hosts and made us feel right at home. We were washed out by the rain, but we were able to take cover and entertain ourselves with shuffleboard, bean bags, and pool in the pavilion. The primitive lots were a little small, but we were allowed to choose our own space. Way to go Happy Hills, we'll see you next year! read more

A group of girls went for moms weekend away. We had a beautiful site on the lake with a great view. Owners were super accommodating, bathrooms were clean, and sites were spacious. Only complaint would be the pool is far away from the campground and a little dirty. Arrived to an extremely muddy and rutty campsite. The men's bathroom was revolting , where I almost vomitted. Smelly, filthy with gobs of wet organic unidentifiable material on the floor. Left the campground immediately. Owner was not reasonable, would offer NO refund. Lost over $500. read more

My family and I are primitive campers but staying in the cozier atmosphere of Happy Hills was a nice change of scenery as the owners were complete sweethearts, and the facilities were so fun we never got bored! We came for Hocking Hills beautiful sites and ended up enjoying our campsite just as much! We kayaked, watched an outdoor film, played in the arcade room, swam in the lake & pool, and our 3 teen boys enjoyed making new friends at the basketball court/playground. While we usually enjoy our solitude, this camp made us want to be social! I love the sense of community at Happy Hills & would recommend staying here even to nature-loving recluses like us :). read more

We have been campers for over 30 years and have owned several campers and this is one of the nicest place we have ever stayed. The lake, campgrounds and restroom were very clean and we'll maintained. My daughter and I decided to go camping with a popup in Hocking Hills, Ohio this year. We pulled up several campgrounds in the area and decided to go with Happy Hills. Their website is easy to navigate but what I really liked about it was how it showed you which sites were available on the campground map. We arrived at 9 pm on Friday night and were greeted by the owner, who directed us to our site. Our site had plenty of room and was well shaded. The water and electric hookups were well within reach and newer/ well maintained. There is a large pond for fishing and they also rent paddleboats. There is a medium sized pool. Some of the campers we hung out with complained that the pool wasn't close enough to the campground but we didn't mind. The owners were present everyday and friendly. Overall we had a great time and will definitely return. read more

By far the worst camp ground I've ever been to. Showers are horrible, bathrooms are dirty, the campsite didn't even offer free wifi. We went there expecting 50 amp hookups like the website showed and the owner said they wouldn't be available until the next year. He wouldn't even give us a refund. I'll never be back!! read more

I wouldn't say it's a dump like some others have said. It would definitely use some work. Campsites are uneven with poor drainage. Our fire pit, which was practically located on the gravel roadway, was covered with 6-8 inches of water after some storms, leaving it unusable the remainder of the weekend. I personally wasn't comfortable using the pool located in the owner's back yard, but found the lake to be much more enjoyable. The campground is expensive and charges extra fees for everything. It's far from the typical Hocking Hills popular hiking spots. The sign upon arrival saying NO REFUNDS is worded in a way that makes it sound like the owners don't want to be bothered with your problems. Bathroom garbage was always overflowing and wasn't cleaned everyday like they say it is. Despite the need for improvements, it's not all bad. It was very quiet and secluded. But after seeing the owners responses to poor reviews on other websites, I decided I wouldn't likely go back. I can handle certain shortcomings as I know all fixes can't be done at once, but I can't handle poor customer service and downright rude and nasty behavior from the owners. read more
