All have similar design and unique artistic flair. Fully furnished, nice comfortable furniture and they thought of almost everything. The kitchen had most everything you might need. Missing paper towels/napkins, wine glasses, ice cube trays, grill utensils. Our cabin, # 8, had nice bedrooms, comfortable beds and linens. Closets but no hangers. Bathroom modern and spacious. Plenty of towels but no shower soap or shampoo, so be sure to bring your own. A little odd that a couple of hall windows facing the parking lot had no window coverings. Two bedrooms share a bathroom so you had to walk through the hall to access bathroom, right past the viewing windows. Covered outdoor dining area was super nice. The only downside was there wasn't much to do. We were hoping for nice hiking trails in the park but they don't have developed trails. There may be some a short drive away but the ones we tried were not well kept, narrow with lots of poison ivy. Fairly close to The Wilds so it would be a great place for families to stay. They do have two pickleball courts, and a basketball hoop. No pool. WiFi in cabin but cell service is sketchy while driving through the area. Be prepared and download directions and info before you leave the cabin.

Sorry ya'll, I'm about to burst this bubble on one of Ohio's secret camping gems…read more Jesse Owens State Park started off originally as AEP land, which was used for it's natural resources (Coal, gas, etc), leaving larges gapes and dug out crevices in the Earth. Once AEP decided they had purge the natural resources enough, they stopped operations in the 90's and reclamation groups stepped in planting trees, scaping the land & turning pits into large beautiful lakes full of bountiful fish. For many years these were known as the AEP recreation lands, as they had campgrounds, fish access, etc. More recently though, the lands were purchased by Ohio and created as a 'state park'. Why don't you hear a lot of Jesse Owens? Well, most of that will be because it's all primitive camping. There are no shower houses, RV dump stations and the bathroom facilities are glorified out houses. Not exactly a 'glamping' paradise for those who need electricity & hook ups to thrive during camping. It however, ticked all the boxes we were looking for - some true authentic campsites. The sites vary & Jesse Owens has numerous campgrounds you can check out scattered around Morgan County. For my review purposes, I stayed in Sandy Hollow - Campground C. The sites in this campground varied - Some were great for pulling your car into, some were hike in (not far by any means) & some could accommodate the bigger 5th wheels or trailers on more leveled ground. Most spots have a gorgeous view of the man made lake, which makes for a peaceful time of relaxation. It's also important to note that most all campsites have access to the lake (more like walking paths). I DO believe there are a few with docks, but this isn't the place to bring the pontoon party boat. This IS however a place for kayaks, paddleboards & small fishing boats. Did I mention that the camping is FREE here? That's really unheard of in most of the eastern part of the United States. It's also FREE for up to 14 days, which is similar to most stay limits for Bureau of Land Management areas in the west. Every spot is first come- first serve & it fills up quickly on the weekends. Mid-summer might be a different story with the hot temps & humidity, but seriously, don't be that shmuck showing up at 9pm on a Friday even expecting to snag a spot. It's not going to happen. Each spot should have a circular fire pit with a cooking grate & there are dumpsters in different parts of each campground to dump garbage. Overall, this place is a gem, and is a short drive through the beautiful South Eastern part of Ohio. A true getaway from civilization.

The mattress are thin and space is tiny tiny. Overall wouldn't recommend this Jellystone site. You have to pay for an additional car (they only allow one at a site), price of wood is higher than other places and you have to pay to do the swimming obstacle course. False advertisement for pool on the premises. Shower house on a Friday evening was ridiculous. The first door was locked to a shower, second one shower head didn't work, and the 4th was draining improperly, leaving one working shower. Would not recommend at all.

We discovered a great number of bugs crawling under every single mattress in our cabin. We were moved to another cabin and told that we could stay there for the duration of our stay. The next day, as we were enjoying the region, we were told we could no longer stay and we had to move back to the bug cabin. That was not an option as the cabin was not fit for human habitation. So, we drove 3.5 hours back home a day early as we refused to live like animals. The owner promised to refund us ALL of our money due to the major issues with our stay. However, we only received a partial refund because "the partners" decided that we were not worthy of the full refund because we stayed Friday. I guess we should have packed up our stuff and drove through the night back home. Do yourself a favor and do not fall into this trap. This park should be stripped of it's Jellystone name as it does not meet the brand standards and is an embarrassment to the brand.

It almost feels like stepping into another environment entirely, especially knowing the area is dedicated to wildlife conservation. Our campsite was quiet and well spaced out, which made it easy to enjoy the surroundings without constant noise from nearby groups. At night, the sky was incredibly clear, and the lack of city lights made stargazing surprisingly good. Facilities were simple but adequate, which fits the outdoor-focused setting. Everything we needed was available, and the grounds were kept in good condition. The staff we encountered were welcoming and clearly proud of the property, offering helpful guidance about the area. Camping at The Wilds is more than just pitching a tent--it's an opportunity to spend time in a unique natural environment that feels both peaceful and expansive. It's a great destination if you're looking for something a little different from the usual campground experience.

Not one of them had anything but positive vibes and were very helpful. We spent the night in one of the Yurts. I'd suggest getting one of the 'hard to get to yurts' as the view isn't nearly as obstructed by mature trees. Our yurt #7 had an amazing view! We found out that late afternoon that the place can handle a torrential downpour with no issues. The after hours meal we got for being guests was incredible! Kudos to the entire food staff for their efforts. We took the horseback tour the day we got there and again, the handlers(Jalin(sp?) and Melissa) were incredible. The safari tour led by Simin(again, the nicest fella) was interesting and enjoyable. If you have back issues, please be aware that the windowless buses shift back and forth tremendously. Lots of animals. Lots of details given by Simon. Would we do this again? Heck yeah! There aren't a ton of extracurricular things to do here besides the safari, the horse or the zip line so if you're bringing kids, plan accordingly. The only bad thing is lack of playground and way too far in the middle of nowhere Ohio to go elsewhere for food.
