History
Established in 1903.
Hodge Insurance was established in the late 1800s by the Hodge family of Danbury, Connecticut. In 1903, Hodge was reformed under the current, insurance-exclusive entity that exists today. Some years before his untimely death, Mr. Hodge brought on Perry R. Salvagne II as his partner. With Mr. Hodge's passing, full ownership of the business was purchased by the Salvagne family, and in 1980 Perry III took the helm from his father, perpetuating the agency for yet another generation. At the time, Danbury Fire Insurance Company operated out of the shared office space that Hodge now fully occupies today. As president of the company, Perry R. Salvagne III was responsible for the demutualization of Danbury Insurance, the first of its kind for a property and casualty company in Connecticut. In 2010, upon his graduation from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, Perry IV joined his father in the family business, fully committed to the improvement and growth of Hodge in the future.
Meet the Business Owner: Perry S.
Perry is a Connecticut native and graduated from Norwich University, the oldest private military college in the United States, with a BS in Business Administration. He proudly served in the Army as a M60 tank company commander and retired as a Captain. Before joining his father at Hodge, Mr. Salvagne worked as an underwriter and in marketing for the Commercial Union (now One Beacon) insurance company throughout Southern New England. Upon his return to Danbury in 1980, he took the helm of both Hodge Insurance Agency and the Danbury Insurance Company, which was headquartered in Hodge's former Main Street Danbury location. After 11 profitable years, Mr. Salvagne was responsible for the demutualization (the first of its kind in CT) and sale of the company, choosing to focus on Hodge's growth for the future.
