I volunteered for the 'Disney Give a Day, Get a Day' program, and painted a house with Hands On…read moreOrlando. I used to volunteer a lot, then got out of it as I got older, and was happy to have volunteering put in the forefront of the news with Disney. I knew the volume of people signing up for events, and was pleasantly surprised when I painted a house with Hands On Orlando. The day consisted of painting four houses, with 100 volunteer expected. The HOO coordinator was very organized, arrived early and was very friendly. There was a HOO coordinator for each house, and one who monitored the whole project. They were very clear in their directions, and made a very humid day painting a house in not a great neighbor hood a great experience. Being an annual passholder for Disney, I wasn't worried about the processing time for the receipt of the Disney voucher, and yet it was in my email by Tuesday. Its kind of sad, the coordinator said that the month before, for the same event they had only twenty volunteers, and now all their events are full. While we appreciate all the Disney is doing to help communities, I sure wish more people would volunteer without having to be bribed, and I can't wait til we do it again!

They do have smaller items like clothes, books, electronics, and more, but not with the variety other thrift stores feature. They seem to have a lot of turnover, as I rarely see the same volunteer twice. They have several rooms and an outdoor area to explore, so be sure to wander around.

Everything inside is donated, all the profits go to charities, and the staff who work here are volunteers. We found a few items today for a great price. Today, all pictures were half off. My mom scored a beautiful picture of Jesus and Mary in an awesome wooden frame for $10, a Bible in a hand crafted wooden box for $10, and a decorative cross that lights up for $12; not bad. Although I didn't find anything for myself I would definitely return again because the inventory moves quick in this place meaning there is something new always coming in.

We were here to visit and only had time to visit with the cats. But there were so many cats but they all seemed happy. There was a porch on the cat building where the cats could hang out. I enjoyed supporting this company with their goals to help support cleanliness and wash away issues like diarrhea who co is the number one cause of death for adolescents. The warehouse was clean and the coordinator was excited and truly enjoyed his work.

I love volunteering at Clean the World. The manager there - Michael - is so passionate about the…read moreorganization. I enjoy the tour he gives of the soap museum before volunteering. They always play great music and we keep busy the whole time. The organization is making such a huge difference in the whole world by recycling hygiene products that would otherwise just end up in landfills.

CCI provides four types of highly trained assistance dogs (service, facility, skilled companion and…read morehearing dogs), free of charge, to those in need. They have a gorgeous 8 acre treed campus in Ocoee that serves the entire Southeast region of the United States. This is an organization you have probably seen and heard of, thanks in part to their massive backing by Anheuser-Busch/SeaWorld. You may have also seen their booth at a local event of even seen a puppy raiser out and about socializing and training a future service dog. Many years ago I volunteered for this organization and have worked with some of their "release dogs" (dogs that didn't make the cut and were adopted out). They utilize labs, goldens or mixes of the two. They do a great job in the community and provide a much needed service. It's great to have this organization in our backyard. You can tour the facility on Tuesdays at 10:30am or 2pm. Stop by for a tour, volunteer some time (raise a puppy, perhaps?!?) or give a gift of money. You'll be rewarded by becoming involved with this group.

This facility is home to furry heroes with big paws and even bigger hearts. The people that volunteer their time are some of the nicest people I have ever met. The staff (especially LeAnn) love their job and make you feel comfortable and confident if you ever have any questions. So happy to be on this journey and hope to make a difference in the future!
